One night stay (thankfully just the one!) the walls are made of cardboard, we had a raver next door and were kept awake by a wailing child upstairs for 2 hours. It wasn’t particularly clean and the decor is very dated. The corridors are littered with brown takeaway bags. We complained as there was NO HOT WATER for the morning of our stay and were told it was an old building with a lot of demand. I tried again at 10 still no water . Nice staff, decent breakfast. Would never stay again

Dear Joda1988, I was most concerned to read your recent review and must apologise that your recent stay did not live up to your expectations. Please accept my sincere apologies for any dissatisfaction experienced; I was concerned to learn you felt the room wasn't clean particularly as we operate under the IHG Clean Promise programme. I am only sorry you did not contact Reception to request an alternative bedroom. Regrettably during your stay we had an issue with the water boiler serving the bedrooms on the ground and first floor which has since been restored. I am sorry for any inconvenience caused. I was pleased to note you felt the staff were nice and that you enjoyed the breakfast. Do get in touch on gm@hieastleigh,com so I can restore your faith in the Holiday Inn Eastleigh. I booked an executive room for one night and arrived about 8pm on a busy Saturday evening. First impressions were good- smart entrance hall and a lovely family atmosphere. I was attended to by a courteous receptionist and booking in was efficient and swift. Unfortunately, it all went downhill from there. I opened the door to my executive room and my first impression was of a tired and rundown room. I went into the bathroom to wash my hands and I noticed the sink had what looked like makeup smeared on it. I got some loo roll and wiped some of it off. When I opened the pedal bin , I saw that it had rubbish in from the previous occupants. At this point I began to feel a bit uneasy as in these Covid times, cleanliness is of the utmost importance. I then noticed hairs on the bathroom floor, in the bath and the grouting around the bath was not just mouldy, but absolutely filthy. Realising that the bathroom had not been properly cleaned, I rang reception, but got no answer. I then went down to the reception area and voiced my concerns. One of the receptionists apologised and said she'd cleaned the bathroom and done her best, but she wasn't " professionally trained". Well I'm sorry, but it doesn't take a professional to empty a bin or wipe dirt off a sink! The IHG cleanliness promise clearly meant nothing. The receptionist said the hotel was full and offered to show me an accessible room. I looked at it, but it was on the ground floor and looked like something you'd see in s hospital. At this point I said I'd check out and asked for a refund. Another receptionist, a more mature lady, offered to speak to the manager. She came back , said the duty manager would clean my bathroom and offered me a complimentary glass of wine. I was so tired at this point, I agreed to the offer. When the cleaning had been done, I inspected the bathroom and it was as you'd expect to find a hotel bathroom- clean. It was when I went to make a cup of tea that I noticed the hospitality tray was dirty, there were no teaspoons and the bathrobe ( promised in the spec for executive rooms) was not in the wardrobe. I had to ring down to reception to get said items. The bed was comfortable, bedding was clean and I slept well. The room was not up to the standard I'd expect of an executive room though. I would not recommend this hotel at all.

Dear DebsW215, I am absolutely horrified to hear the account of your recent stay at the hotel. Please be assured this is not typical of our usual standards of cleanliness and guest care. We operate under the IHG Clean Promise programme and I must sincerely apologise that we failed to deliver the expected standards on this occasion. Our Receptionists do not normally clean the bedrooms however I understand on this particular day the evening housekeeper was unwell and as the hotel was fully booked the team on duty cleaned the room to ensure all guests could be accommodated. Whilst they tried their best it would appear the room was not cleaned to the IHG standard which is unacceptable. I would like to express my sincere apologies for the dissatisfaction experienced, this is certainly not the welcome our guests should receive. This is the first time we have stayed at a Holiday Inn and booked as a deal whilst visiting Poulton Park. I was really impressed with the cleanliness right off. But the the thing that impressed us the most was the friendliness of ALL the staff. No one let the side down and every time we interacted with the staff they went above and beyond normal expectations. I stayed with my daughter and my granddaughter. In a family room. My 3 year old granddaughter was most impressed with the complimentary milk and cookie at bedtime and the buffet breakfast! If you are booking a similar trip, don't hesitate to book here. Very highly recommended. VERY child friendly too!

The positives and there are many, great entrance, ground floor facilities and dining room. Staff exemplary, everyone we met, couldn’t fault each and everyone and being an employer, I’m fussy! Excellent staff thank you so much. Breakfast great and everything we’ll set up so children feel catered for and not a menace which I found helped everyone chill out, especially parents. Room, bedding was clean, nothing missed. Not so good … bathroom fusty and damp needs updating, towels good. Water was literally boiling!! Very worrying when bathing kiddies, way too hot, maybe needs looking at, accident waiting to happen. Dinner menu ok but very overpriced. Thanks 😊 great easy stay.
