Incredibly little hotel - nothing is too much trouble. The decor in the common areas may be a little old fashioned for some but I thought it warm and inviting. The rooms are different (well the one we stayed in was) recently redecorated very tastefully. Facilities and attention to detail beyond most luxury hotels. Very comfortable bed - amazing bathroom facilities. Excellent breakfast - Peter is a create cook. I almost want an excuse to go to Clacton to stay there again. Personally I think they could charge more but perhaps the Clacton market won't tolerate an increase.

Hotel's Favourite
this has never happened before where we've stayed somewhere where everything was great , people who ran it and the staff were very friendly and helpful , the room was big ,warm , peaceful , large and luxurious en suite , massive comfortable bed , spotlessly clean but not bland and clinical , the hotel had loads of charming original features and the breakfast was huge and tasty , our dog bingo had great fun playing with the owners lab and spaniel , parking no problem right at the front door and the chudleigh is a stones throw from the sea next to the pier. price very reasonable at 70 quid all in . 10 out of 10 ;

This is old school. Hotels like this are a dying breed. Peter and Anne have been running this super friendly hotel for years and they clearly know what they are doing. The room and bathroom was spotlessly clean attention to detail was everywhere. The towels were the fluffiest ever and and the bed was huge and crisp ensuring one of the best nights sleeps I have had in ages. The breakfast has been bigged up on reviews and rightly so. If you are looking for a hotel in Clacton go here. They don't make 'em like this anymore.

This is the only place to stay in Clacton. Carol and Peter really excel as hosts and Amy the Springer spaniel and her lab friend make you so welcome!! It is easy to see why Doddy returned time and again! We had room 3 which had the most enormous and comfortable bed. The complimentary toiletries are exceptional. Bottled water is provided along with biscuits and chocolate. Hand sanitiser was also in the room. The bathroom is superb, both bath and shower. The towels are enormous and wonderfully fluffy and soft, even face cloths are provided!! Breakfast is everything anyone could want, from fruit juices, fresh fruit, cereals, full English, smoked salmon, and every conceivable jam, marmalade, and spread. The Chudleigh is highly recommended indeed. Nothing is too much trouble, and everything is just that more thoughtful and attention to detail is faultless. Thank you again!

I'm walking the England and Wales coast path and over the last two or three years have stayed in around 25 + hotels and B and Bs. Many have been excellent but none have been better. I won't repeat all the great reviews except to say that I thoroughly endorse them + spades. My only personal suggestion, as I like to get up early and start walking is that I would prefer breakfast to start a little earlier.
