Stayed here for four nights whilst visiting friends in the area. Good location witi easy access to Eastbourne even if using public transport. Hotel itself is a little tired but perfectly functionable - not unsurprising given its age. Clean enough without being excessive and good service throughout our stay
Me and my friend stayed here for a few nights as we were visting Eastbourne. The hotel is nice, basic but nice The guy who works behind reception was really great host and very helpful. We stayed in a family room which had a double bed and 2 single beds it was very spacious but a very small ensuite. The whole room is on a wonk/slant when you sit on the toilet you slide into the shower wall. Our only issues whilst here was the breakfast. It wasnt very good, small portions, low quality ingredients and very greasy everything tastes of oil. I wouldnt recommend paying the extra for the breakfast package. We only ate the breakfast once and left without breakfast in our last day snd got it somewhere else.
Nice, quiet location ,gardens looked good, too but let down by poor quality mattress and very squeaky bed! When we arrived I had to use our phone flash light,as there's no outside lighting. Bed squeaked at every turn,so sadly I hardly slept, mattress was thin and not the usual hotel quality I am used to.Toilet was so narrow that if you're bit taller than average you'll bang your head on the ceiling. Shower was the same ,I am 5ft4 and my head touched the ceiling in the shower cubicle. Not powerful either.I wouldn't stay again as comfort when it comes to sleep is vital in any hotel establishment.
We spent the night at Chalk farm in the deluxe room for our anniversary. Beautiful room, very clean and lots of amenities. Very comfortable and quiet. Very welcoming staff and a great breakfast. A little gem!
We had a lovely stay. The room was ideal more than comfortable. Our kids really enjoyed it. So much nicer staying at a place with lots of history and our party was at the British Queen Pub which was walking distance away. Beautiful Gardens amazing views and friendly staff. The breakfast was delicious we will definitely come back for a other visit.
I stayed at this hotel for three nights so that could see my family who live in Eastbourne, I do a lot of visiting to see family, and have stayed in several hotels in the past few years in Eastbourne. This farm hotel is three things, it is an old place that has a lot of history i was there late November this year, the rooms are very, very clean and the bed i slept in was in the bridal suite, really nice lay out, again it is an old building and to change anything would be a sin. The place reminds of my early years and took back long forgotten memories. The breakfast they serve is one of the best i have had in some time, and the man who serves it is a very nice guy, he even looked my family name so he could tell me where it came from. Had the water pressure been higher this would have been a 5 plus great place ( AND QUIET ) SHHHHHH An honest review as always Ronald …
We needed an hotel for one night this month near Hampden Park and after reading the glowing reviews we booked. When arrived we had to use our phones to light our way to the front door because there was no outside lighting. One of the glass panes by the lock in the entrance door was broken and covered with a bit of cardboard. The 'reception desk' was the least welcoming thing I've ever seen. We were given a key and told where to find the room which was in the eaves of the house. I tried to wash my hands but in the tiny trickle of water I had to move my hands to make them wet. We relaxed for a short while before going out to one of the local pubs for dinner. Before we left I thought I'd use the loo. When I lifted the lid I was faced with a smear of excrement. Yes, really. I'll spare you the photo we took. We also tried the shower and realised that there was barely any water arriving so my partner went to see the man on reception who offered another room - no water in the shower at all,; a second room - again no water and finally the family room which appeared to have both a clean loo and water coming out of the bath taps. We transferred to this room. The next morning we tried to shower but no matter what the water temperature was flowing from the bath taps, as soon as you directed the flow to shower the water was scalding hot or cold. Not a great experience. Breakfast was ok, although I would have preferred the staff to be wearing masks. When we came to settle the bill we explained the problems to the girl on the desk and suggested she might like to adjust the bill. She claimed to be unable to do that because the owner was away for three weeks and only he could make that decision. I'll be writing to him direct. Summary: The place is run down, dirty and the service is poor. Find somewhere else to stay.…
Really like this place,so quiet surrounded by trees and beautiful flowers.Very friendly and helpful staff.Room very clean and spacious .The breakfast is amazing..I can say the best scramble eggs. 💯🙏❤🌹
The hotel may not be to everyone’s taste, but we quite liked it, it is set on a farm with pretty impressive views all around. There was room to pack and it was a good spot for us as we were visiting family in Eastbourne. I try to rate with the cost of room in mind and feel it represented value. We booked with breakfast. The greeting was warm and friendly on our arrival and we were given room 9. This was up and was very much an attic style room with low ceilings. This is part of the reason this did not achieve a five star review. The room was clean and spacious but because of the slopes ceilings it did mean a bit of mild contortion was required for parts of the room and the bathroom. That said it was serviceable and would not necessarily stop us staying again. I think if you were under 6ft you would probably be less effected as my wife was more comfortable with the height. The shower was a bit cramped and pressure was average at best but you were able to have a good wash. From the room the views were good of both the farm and the surrounding area. We arrived a bit late so a lot of the local eateries and pubs had closed for food or were due to. As such we ordered a pizza. Upon speaking to reception I explained we had ordered food and asked if there was anywhere they would prefer us to eat rather to an eating on our room. It was suggested we could use the bar area (which we did) which was nice and far more comfortable. It was a nice gesture as the bar was not open at the i time. I would also say the breakfast was very good! Full English was a delight. We would and probably will stay again, I’m sure there are some great walks in the area based on what we could see and it would have been nice to see a bit more of the farm had we not arrived late and then had to head off.…
Wow when we first pulled up to this beautiful hotel. It really is so beautiful like the photos. We booked a family room. We had 3 signal beds and double bed. The room was huge. Had a lovely big ensuite with bath. Plenty of tea and coffee in the room. Big bottle of water. The location of this hotel is in a beautiful spot. On a lovely quite road. Has two pubs in walking distance. Behind the hotel there is a footpath which leads to the south downs. We had a lovely walk with the kids. The staff at this hotel are so friendly and nice. We have two daughters and the staff always made a fuss of them. The breakfast in the morning was so delicious. Will definitely be returning. Well done guys keep up the good work.
