Reviews summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.

Grand Hotel Holiday Resort is lauded for its exceptional cleanliness, with guests appreciating the pristine condition of the rooms and the well-maintained grounds, thanks to the diligent staff. While the rooms receive mixed reviews—some guests find them spacious with stunning views, others consider them basic and occasionally encounter cleanliness issues. The variety of pools, including one with a water slide, and the convenience of on-site transport services earn rave reviews. Value perceptions vary, with transport and amenities generally seen as fairly priced, though opinions on drink prices and the overall experience are split. Service at the hotel is frequently commended, with many visitors finding the staff to be friendly and dedicated to providing a memorable stay. However, feelings about the hotel's atmosphere are divided; the live music is a hit for some but doesn't resonate with all guests.

Our second trip to Grand Hotel and we were not disappointed. The hotel is super clean, the staff are friendly and helpful and the facilities are fantastic. The fun pool has been updated with a massive water feature now included and the views from there are absolutely breathtaking. Socratis in that bar is an absolute gentleman and works so hard. The adult pool was stricter this year, no children allowed, which was lovely if you wanted some quiet time sunbathing and the main pool still had the games and classes, but they are not pushy. The food is freshly cooked, hot and varied. I have seen some reviews on here saying it is samey, but of course it is, we were there for two weeks, so it is wise to plan a break out of the hotel. Romantic Corner in Stalis is a great restaurant, stunning and great food. In the main restaurant, I would recommend eating outside, feels much more restaurant like. Table service is still available, and our experience is we never waited for more than five minutes and were always offered more wine and water to take back to our room. George also deserves a special mention, what a gent. He greeted us like family, we were surprised he would even remember us, but he is an absolute credit to the hotel. Most of the staff are. Four a 4* family hotel, it hits all the spots. We will be back one day, thanks for a great couple of weeks !

Let me first say that the only reason for not achieving five star review are for the two negative points:

1. Appalling slow and intermittent internet, high data files pdfs Facebook and similar do not work on the Free WiFi, even the premium WiFi which you have to pay for is abysmal in this day an age of world wide communication, even those of us on holiday require reliable and stable WiFi.

2. British/ English speaking customer’s unevenly treated in relation to the German and french contingent, ably demonstrated when we visited the Aegean restaurant as the no English menus only french and German. To view the menu in English you needed to download the hotel app and view through WiFi,!!!!!!!!!! Please refer to my first point Doh.

Now for the positives fantastic pools, 3 in number and 1 for adults only with the additional independent water park/chutes adjoining the hotel and within there grounds for guests only. Life guards present at all pools and water park up to 1800hrs, clean and tested regularly.

All restaurant staff 10 out of 10 , mask and glove wearing all…..hand sanitiser available at a staggering amount areas for the customers.

Quality and choice of food superb and the Aegean restaurant steps up a notch to unbelievable.

Room service cleanliness and hotel cleaning staggeringly superb, pool sides jet washed every day at 7 am.

The transfer service to the beach is regular but I believe the size of the mini bus seating 7 needs to a larger vehicle along with the last time returning from the beach at 1545 needs to be pushed to 1700hrs.

The transfer service at the lower level of the hotel up the HILL is fantastic but finishes far to early around 1100pm.

The rooms are large and comfortable we had 3 beds in our room which was not crammed and the mattresses very comfortable.

As some of the first British people to visit here since the COVID 19 lockdown we were pretty nervous about our holiday but we needn’t have been - the hotel and all its staff have gone above and beyond to ensure the safety of its guests. We had a fantastic holiday and the restrictions didn’t effect our enjoyment at all. The main difference is in the dining room where you are served all your food by the staff rather than it being self service, this wasn’t a problem at all for us and ensured a high level of hygiene. Temperatures of visitors are taken when you arrive at the hotel and you are encouraged to sanitise your hands. Activities such as aqua Zumba, kids club, darts etc. all took place. The pools are great and there were plenty of sun beds. All the staff and the local business owners are very welcoming. The only place you have to wear a mask is in a supermarket or on public transport. All in all we had a great holiday, the hotel is spotless and we felt safe and well looked after. Highly recommended.

A really lovely stay at the Grand Hotel, despite the weather changing for the worse practically as soon as our week started. The food and drink were always first class with plentiful choice and variety for every meal. There was always more wine, cocktails and soft drinks on offer, and when something wasn’t all-inclusive, staff made this very clear, and offered us alternatives, for example bottled water for free with dinner, or the packed lunches being available for the next day.
Negatives were all beyond the hotel’s control: the distance to the beach (but the hotel offered a free shuttle service), the temperature of the pools (but usually this would have been ideal if more sunny), the indoor pool and outdoor theatre both being closed (because of Covid).
A couple of members of staff deserve special mention: George and Kostas both went out of there way to serve, and both appeared genuinely proud to work there. Little things like remembering salt and pepper sachets, or the cocktail choices despite the multitude of other customers.
One more thing about the drinks: the spirits for the most part were proper brands, and the juices were proper juices and not squashes saturated with sugar. Lemonade was Sprite from bottles for cocktails and not cheap on-tap stuff.
Overall a lovely room, lovely staff, and a great chance to relax; just a shame the sunshine was absent for most of the half term break.

Stayed here May half-term with our 13year old son. Hotel was lovely, spotlessly clean and great pools /water park. There was always a bed free around the water park, and generally beds around the main pool still free 9/10am. The adult pool was very quiet and beds easier to get there.

All-inclusive was good quality, ate in both A la carted. Puddings were gorgeous!! Wines ok, only slight gripe was why we couldn’t purchase better quality wine outside the Aegean restaurant. They had some lovely wines there that you could pay extra for, but you could only buy and consume them in that restaurant. Having the option to purchase better quality wine would seem sensible.

My wife had a lovely massage, and would definitely recommend the spa. She also did yoga with Maria and highly recommended it.

We went into Stalis one night, and had a lovely meal over-looking the sea.

The hotel is on a hill, but unless you have real problems with mobility it’s literally a 5 min walk from the main pool to the snack bar/ kids pool. From reading previous reviews I assumed it was much further. We asked for a room on the top floor and overlooking main pool and got this. Very handy for everything.

Overall, it was a great week.

This hotel staff is among the friendliest and most helpful ,I have come across in the hospitality industry.
The establishment at this place , is really taking the whole corona issue seriously. They are making sure that everyone is following the rules and we noticed already at arrival.

The buffet restaurant serves food in a very militant way ,however , we appreciated this way of doing things since we understand the times we are living. Huge variety of food delicious and a lot of flavor.

A: The facilities, infrastructure and deco are up to par with what you would expect in a 4 star hotel.

B: Entertainment in general for me was a big minus; especially regarding the Kids’ Club because of the following reasons.

1. Unclear information on where and when the kids’ activities would occur ie the mini disco + the Kids’ Club program. ( viral information for parents with kids) l would have loved to receive this information at check in.

2. The Mini Disco location could have been closer to the restaurants and more effort could be put by the animation team for the Disco to invite all kids for the disco.

3 .The best entertainment was a trio band ( 2 men and a lady). Great Music

C: Amazing staff, l wish l could mention all of them by name but they were all so friendly and went out of their way to help. The lifeguard at the kids’ pool Katarina was amazing. She was really nice with all the children.

D: We treated ourselves to The Wellness Spa treatments. We highly recommend their treatments.

Al in all it was a great holiday, food and weather

This has got to be by far one of the best all inclusive we have stayed in for value for money, the all inclusive does end at 10:30pm, but this was never a problem for us. It was great that everything was available between these items, and even got nuts/nibbles to go with your drinks, never had this before. The foods here is outstanding, something different everyday, and was very good quality, lamb chops one day and they were amazing. The staff could not do enough for you, from the gentleman that see you into the restaurant and set you, they also asked how we were and said hello, to the wait staff, there were two young ladies, George and a young gentleman, I think his name was Demetiri, who deserve a special mention, they went above and beyond, even though the restaurant could get very busy! Even in Covid times I felt completely at ease in this hotel, with them giving you gloves to do the food at the buffet, which was great as then you could have as much or as little as you like, and the mini bottles of wine in the evening, just made the whole place seem so much more than a standard all inclusive hotel. The only let down for this hotel was the room, which is why the review has been knocked down a star, we booked a superior room, although the room was large, and the view was nice of the sea, we did not get the tea and coffee making facilities that were advertised when booked, and I do not believe the room warranted the extra money. Other than that we would definitely return to this hotel, but would just book standard.

Some of the Hotel descriptions and amenities mentioned by some holiday firms are incorrect. The hotel is nice, but it lacks a private internet room, two terminals are provided for those without smart devices, and the whole time people just walk in and out. My room at the top of a hill in a concrete block, with thin walls was spoilt by either workmen having their tea breaks next door, or someone playing tennis on the roof. I was woken up several times by cigarettes' smoke wafting around. There was a nice view of the sea, but the local beach is hidden by a concrete wall of developments. There is a spar facility center next door which costs fifty euro for a half hour session. The food and drink was nice, although the cut of point at 10pm for the all inclusive package was a little early. There was evening entertainment, including an outside theatre. The tea and coffee in the room also seemed to be rationed. Several outdoor pools. Very friendly staff. Lots of mosquitoes around at night. I got bitten to pieces even with a plug in insect repellent. Very close to the airport.

This was my first trip to Crete and Greece in general. I had done some research for the hotel and the resort in hersonissos and therefore I was aware the hotel was built into the side of hill, so I emailed the hotel prior to my arrival to request a room that didn't involve climbing too many steps. Upon my arrival at 2am and a seemless check in process, I had my all inclusive bracelet placed on my arm and I was taken to my room and my suitcase placed in my room for me. FYI the safety deposit box is €3 per day and I paid tourist tax of €20 for the week. So first day, up and ready for breakfast. I made my way towards reception, as no idea where the restaurant was, luckily to find it just around the corner from the staircase. Upon entering the restaurant, with no idea of the process I was meant to follow, I was rudely called back by Maria (short lady with blonde plaited hair) to scan my bracelet. No one informed me there was a chip inside the bracelet that needed scanning and she assumed I knew what to do. After figuring it out, she then continued the rudeness demanding I sanitise my hands before I could proceed. This set the tone for every day and every meal time for the week ahead. Restaurant staff worked tirelessly and effortlessly at every meal time and were very friendly and welcoming, unlike Maria on the door. Food was a little repetitive, even across 1 week. Cleaning staff seemed to work relentlessly as well all day. There are two A la Carte restaurants, 1 Italian and one Agaen. I didn't try the Italian, but the Agaen was absolutely exquisite and would recommend this to anyone and everyone!! Sunbeds were plentiful and no need to reserve them in advance. A shuttle car will take you to the beach (if you don't fancy the walk) and runs every 10 minutes from 10am until 6pm. Reception staff were helpful most of the time.....I requested a kettle for my room (as i had taken my own coffee and tea bags) which was delivered promptly, however I wasn't allowed a proper cup due to covid. Not sure what the difference is drinking from a cup at breakfast or from one in my room. I was allowed a takeaway cup instead...yuk!! Lobby bar nice to have a couple of drinks after dinner. All in all a lovely week away. Special mention to George in the restaurant who was just amazing, unlike Maria on the door who was rude and unwelcoming.

We booked last minute and went to the hotel with another family.
In times of COVID the staff were amazing and took our safety so seriously!! Exceptional cleanliness and help.
The Wellness centre staff were brilliant (Anastasia & Katherina) at helping us to relax.
The restaurant staff were attentive (George especially) and very strict on the PPE.
At the fun pool the life guard Katerina, was brilliant and friendly even helping with the kids swimming to give tips and advice.
The staff Panos and Socratis were brilliant and amazing with our kids at giving them that little bit of freedom.
Make sure and take your own tennis balls as despite Maria’s best efforts we had too climb the fence to get them, and the thorns are sharp!!
Also watch out for the shop keeper, he can be a little difficult.
But the hotel was great!! Highly recommended!!

I’d guess there were 120 or so around the main pool, 40 at the bottom of the slides, 40 around the toddler pool and I dont know around the adult pool. But I doubt the hotel would have many more people than beds to be honest.
