Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stayed here while visiting our daughter at OSU. Staff was very friendly, facilities were great and room was very clean. They have an excellent gym. Drinks at the hotel bar were a bit expensive, Would definitely stay here again.

We were concerned about staying in a hotel during the COVID-19 pandemic, but this location made us feel safe. The room was large, clean and comfortable as we enjoyed the views of downtown, and being able to just relax without any noise. It seemed very safe even with most shops closed, and I felt the price was very good for a weekend evening right downtown.

Rooms have been remodeled since last year, like new design except for bar stools in room they are to tall for counter, laminated floors are much cleaner. Elevators are still slow and don’t really meet needs for peek times. Bell desk and valet was well staffed and employees very attentive. Th Starbucks coffee in room and full bistro downstairs is a plus. Additional trash cans are needed on 5th floor in the evenings. Two hundred word as a minimum is excessive when doing a survey. I believe I have shared the pros and cons of our journey to the Hyatt Regency we look forward to staying there every year as we attend 5he GOSA/OFMA convention.

The hotel was nice as well as the service workers but everything was too expensive for the average working citizen. The food was overpriced as far as the quality or just in general.$50 bucks for two burgers and two fries is ridiculous. The little gift shop store , everything in there was way overpriced, it was like $40 bucks for a six pack of beer a couple of V8jucies and two small bags of chips. Everyone that worked there was very nice just everything too expensive for normal working households.

Stayed here for a Blue Jackets game on NYE. It's nice enough for the money. Good view of the city and parking is included in the room price so taking that into consideration it's not a bad value. Room was clean but it looked like the housekeeper only gave it a good once over. Plus we could hear the people partying around us through the walls. I'd stay here again but they definitely have room for improvement.

The whole parking situation was a mess. We were told to park in the E. Chestnut garage , bring ticket back to get validated so that we can go in and out for that day and the next day. We got our parking ticket validated. Later on that exact night we went out for dinner, scanned the parking ticket and we were able to get out of the garage. The same parking ticket would not scan when we tried to enter the garage after our dinner. It said Invalid ticket. After playing around with the machine thinking something must be wrong with the machine we just got another ticket to enter the garage and went straight to the front desk. The front desk lady said that the person who checked us in charged out room for the parking but never associated the parking ticket with our room? I am not sure how that's even possible but ok. At the end of our conversation she said that now moving forward we should not have any issues getting in and out because she has associated the parking ticket with our room. Next morning I went out to get my car out of the garage and upon scanning the parking ticket it said I owed $16 even though my room was being charged for it ! I ended up paying $16 from my credit card for parking there overnight. After I got my car I went to check out to front desk. After explaining the front desk lady this whole situation she charged me additional $4 for parking. I was just frustrated by the end of the discussion and just wanted to be out of the lobby. Her exact words were "I am confused so I will only charge you $4 instead of $20". In my head whole time I was like please don't say this like you are doing me a favor.

Stay Report - 10/31 to 11/1

Location: The hotel is located in the north part of Downtown Columbus right next to the massive Columbus Convention Center to which it's directly connected.  It's near I-670 so getting to CMH is really easy and it's close to I-71 as well.  Location wise it works great though the area around it is pretty quiet.

Hotel: The hotel is a massive convention center high rise of 20 stories.  There's a huge lobby with its own meeting space and direct access to the convention center, a large bar on the 2nd floor along with a breakfast and dinner restaurant and a coffee shop.  Dining at the hotel isn't great and the kitchen closes at 10 PM.  Parking is valet only and the valet company isn't very quick about car retrieval.

Check In: Handled really well.  I had been preemptively upgraded to a VIP suite and I was also given a coupon for a free appetizer and non alcoholic drink at the bar.

Room: Amazing.  A true suite in the truest of forms with a massive living room which had a kitchen and dining area as well as a powder room.  There was also a large bedroom with large bathroom.  I encountered no issues with noise or with the Wifi either.

Dining: The bar was well stocked and had a great bartender.  Breakfast was ala carte off a menu and while the breakfast restaurant is kind of dingy, service was great and the food was out quick.

Overall a great stay.  I'd be back.

Staff was friendly. Valet was prompt. Breakfast was fresh and a great, clean buffet selection. We will definitely be back to stay again. The room cleaning for an express cleaning to get the trash, toiletries, towels etc was a perfect option for a weekend stay.

Ten-day stay for Gay Softball World Series (Aug-Sept 2021). Welcoming, friendly staff, but...

Beds advertised as queens were an odd-size: like slightly doubles, at most. Bed covering had the thickness of three bed sheets stitched together.
Low lighting/dark room.
Small bathroom with older bathtub/shower/curtain combo. More bad lighting.
A/C worked more like a sump pump, removing humidity from the room.
WiFi was fine until about 9 p.m. every night when it slowed to a snail's pace, if you were even able to access it.

It's unclear whether a renovation would fix this, especially with a massive new Hilton complex going in just next door.

All in all, this was everything you don't expect a Hyatt Regency to be.

Hotel staff was friendly, attentive and professional. Hotel lobby was clean, well lit and I liked how the plastic/shield was installed to protect front desk staff. There were multiple sanitizer "stations" for guests to use. Rooms were clean and stocked with plenty of towels. I loved there were 2 thermostats in the room, one by the bed and other by the entrance.

Valet is $33 per day but you can park on your own for $16 overnight on Chestnut street which is the next street over to the south and is affiliated with Hyatt.
