We stayed here for 8 nights for a bit of R and R. Location is great- 10 minutes flat walk to the huge Sunshine Plaza which has everything you could possibly need and is right on the river's edge looking out over the ocean. Spectacular views!
Our unit had been recently renovated, was spotlessly clean and had everything you could ask for. All the appliances were near new, AC worked extremely well, bed was very comfy and the kitchen was well equipped with utensils.
The building is an older security building with 2 lifts servicing all floors including the garage level.
Management and staff were very welcoming, easy to deal with and very efficient at resolving a number of issues we had at first.
There is construction underway on the southern side of the building and a unit on the floor below us was being renovated resulting in very disturbing noise for the first day and a half of our stay but after that the noise was minimal.
We had a great stay here and will certainly look to return next year but I will ask about planned unit renovations before confirming our dates.
Minus the noise issue, I would happily have given 5 stars.

My family and I have stayed here every Summer for 5 years.
Britt and Grant are very welcoming, helpful and amazing. The rooms are always clean and homey, providing all the necessities for a family holiday including full kitchen and laundry facilities. The view is spectacular and the pool and spa are beautiful.
The location is wonderful as it’s close to Sunshine Plaza, Big Top shopping centre, Cotton Tree, playgrounds and Ocean St which has great bars and restaurants.
I highly recommend Trafalgar Towers for a family holiday and we’ll be returning again next year.

Trafalgar Towers was built in the early 80s on the edge of the Maroochy river, the 60 or so units (4 to a floor) are all individually owned, the place is in tip top condition. Units are spacious and very clean, beds are comfortable, shower is hot.
Location is good, there is a heap of eateries a little further south on Duporth Ave, there is an enormous shopping centre 500m away and a convenience store just around the corner. This is probably the best value place I’ve stayed in on the Sunshine Coast.

Unfortunately our time at Trafalgar was short and rather stressful. We booked a room at Trafalgar Towers and the room we were allocated was shocking. Cupboard doors in main bedroom loose on the hinges, both single doonas in second bedroom were soiled with stains underneath, dining table and chairs were old and rickety - did not want to sit down for fear of it falling apart, tv cabinet scratched beyond belief, couch dirty, shower screens had horizontal cracks in them, door stop was hanging by one nail, the unit smelt musty and was not of a clean standard. After complaining to management we were shifted to another room, which was slightly better, but still, regarding cleanliness, was not up to par. Upon complaining to management, we were told by the lady that we had been fully warned as to the state of the room, which was not the case. We have 2 family members who dealt with Trafalgar - on the initial enquiry we were not once told about the state of the room (management actually told us the rate we were quoted was a clerical error by the staff - when in reality it was cheap because the room is shocking - this was not disclosed!!). On actual booking, we were only told the walls were in need of a lick of paint and the carpets were worn. A week before we arrived we asked Trafalgar to send us pictures of the room which they could not provide. We were told by the management that the owner of the apartment (they are individually owned) likes the apartment that way, as if there was something wrong with us! Who is the paying customer here? Needless to say in the end Management kindly gave us a refund and we were able to find alternate accommodation after staying only 1 night at Trafalgar. Just BE AWARE - if you are given a room on floor 8 - do not commit until you inspect the room first!

Response from Britt L L, Manager at Trafalgar Towers
Responded 30 Aug 2012
My name is Britt (the lady referred to in the review). My husband, Grant and I have run Trafalgar Waterfront Apartments (Trafalgar Towers), for six years now and have never had such an unfair and, in parts, untrue review. So here’s our side of the story… When the enquiry came through on the internet, my junior receptionist called the guest directly and told her that we only had an economy apartment left for her requested dates. As manager, I then asked to speak with the woman directly to ensure she was fully aware of the condition of the apartment, telling her that it was “in desperate need of a renovation, but with stunning views, new appliances, new lounge and new bed.” She agreed to go ahead with the booking at the discounted rate offered to all clients for economy apartments. There was an error in the price - she was quoted for 14 nights instead of 15, but we honored that as we had put it in the quote. Later I received an email from the woman’s father that acknowledged not only the state of the apartment, but the reason for the discount when he said “We remember being informed that the room we have been allocated is not the best, hence a discounted rate.” So, yes, they were told about the condition of the apartment and they knew that was why they were charged an economy price. He also asked for photos, which we could not take as the apartment was fully booked up until his arrival. I explained this in my written reply and once again confirmed the condition of the apartment, this time saying “the bathrooms and the kitchen are original condition. It needs new carpet and a good paint, but lounge, bed and appliances are all great.” Anyway, it seems that while many of our regular guests actually request this apartment, saying that they find it great value for money with stunning views, we understand that this is not always the case; it just wasn’t suitable for these guests; and, after relocating them for the first night, we gave them a full refund as we were fully booked in all other apartments. I guess the hardest thing is that my husband and I pride ourselves in operating a great business with honesty and integrity. We aim to provide excellent customer service so it is difficult to read such an exaggerated and untrue account of events. For those reading this there are only 3 economy apartments in our pool, the other 33 range from standard to totally refurbished deluxe apartments as well as two 3 bedroom penthouses. Each apartment is individually owned and the level of refurbishment lies with the owner. We take responsibility for cleaning and give our guarantee our apartments are clean. If something is overlooked (and that can happen), we guarantee to fix it asap. To the people who wrote this, I apologize for your dissatisfaction and hope that the rest of your stay on the Sunshine Coast was what you were looking for. To the others reading this response, I guess in hospitality, you can’t please everyone all the time, but that doesn’t stop us from trying! Economy apartments are only ever sold to those who are well informed of their condition and are priced accordingly. They are not offered to customers or last minute sites such as WOTIF or special deals like Living Social. Please read our other reviews : )))

We recently spent 11 nights at the Trafalgar Towers Apartments in Duporth Road, Maroochydore. The Towers are in a great location, right on the river, with it's own jetty (no roads to cross). Unfortunately though the building is by no means new although our apartment, 8D, had recently been refurbished with new carpet and paint (though I think my 11 yr old could have done a better job with the paint!) When I booked the aparmtent I was told it was a three bedroom apartment but on our arrival (and AFTER paying the balance) I discovered that the back balcony had been enclosed and a single bed put there hence the original 2bd apartment became a 3 bd apartment for which we were charged. And at $250.00 a night I thought this was outrageous considering you had to walk through the second bedroom with only 8 inches between the bed and the wall to get to the "3rd" bedroom. After discussing this with the manager she did waiver the kayak and tennis raquet hire fees from our bill at the end of our stay!! Though I would like to have thought all equipment was complimentary and that the kids didn't have to hunt high and low every evening for 2 x $1.00 coins so they could have a game of pool. Also beware of the three inch gap between the lift and the floor ..... my oldest son accidently dropped the car keys into this gap and we were charged a $220.00 maintenance fee to have them recovered. Overall though, the Towers are in a great location, with good security and parking. The grounds are beautifully kept, and the views across the rivers of the everchanging tides are wonderfull. I would recommend this accommodation BUT JUST make sure you know exactly what you are getting BEFORE you pay for it.

Lovely views from this Unit but having stayed at Trafalgar Towers every year for 11 years and in this unit many times it's annoying when you report maintenance issues and they don't get actioned. This time we reported that there were no chairs on the balcony and it too 2 mentions before some appeared. Units should be checked before the guests arrive to ensure everything is ok.

My sincere apologies for the inconvenience. My husband and I were on annual leave when you arrived. Replacement outdoor furniture had been ordered prior and was due before your arrival. Obviously this didn't happen as scheduled. The relief managers told me they were able to find you a substitute setting as soon as possible. I am sorry you had to ask for it. It was an oversight on my part not to inform the relief managers of the situation before we left. If I had have explained this to them, I am sure they would have had a setting in place before your check in.

We discovered Trafalgar Towers around 2007 and have returned every year. The service provided from the Managers has always been exceptional. Their commitment to giving you a good holiday shows in the amenities which are kept in tip top condition. The location along Maroochy River offers a peaceful view of coast line with no traffic noise. The new pool area, full tennis court and kayaks are always enjoyed. Easy walk to Sunshine Plaza and walking distance to some good restaurants.

THE wedding for daughter Kellie and fiancé Steve was at Flaxton in the Sunshine Coast hinterland. Kellie was spending her wedding eve at the Maroochydore Sebel Hotel which meant as Father of the Bride, I had to be in the wedding limo the following day with bride and bridesmaids.
So my party, wife Deanne, daughter Miranda from the UK and her son Benjy had to be close by, but not too close. As we were staying on for two nights to do some sightseeing we also needed a self catering place with a good kitchen and plenty of living space.
So after a bit of checking on Tripadvisor we settled on a two bedroom apartment at the 50-roomed Trafalgar Towers at 120 Duporth Avenue, Maroochydore, just a three minute drive from the Sebel.
It proved to be a good choice, smoke-free for a start and underground parking as well.
We were up on the 13th floor in a deluxe unit that faced the Maroochy River and the ocean, which provided pretty spectacular view from the huge balconies once the rain stopped.
It was a good first impression when we entered the apartment. It was sparkling clean with gleaming tiles throughout and was spacious enough for out party of four. The bathroom which doubled as a laundry, with automatic washing machine and dryer set neatly out of the way. It was a good sized bath too. No toiletries though, just a small bar of soap.
The furniture in the lounge area consisted of comfortable settees and glass topped dining table. There was also a coffee table and a big flat screen TV.
The beds were comfortable too and the master bedroom was huge with a roomy en-suite. The second room was smaller with two single beds, but both had heaps of wardrobe space. The linen was clean and crisp and the beds comfortable. I could have done with a firmer pillow though.
The kitchen however was the big hit. It was house-sized. No tiny microwave or two ring cook tops at Trafalgar, but a full sized electric oven and four-ring top and a full sized fridge-freezer. The microwave was big enough to cook a meal in
The pots and pan department was excellent plus there was good quality crockery, plenty of glasses including champagne flutes, which are all too often are missing from self-catering units and no shortage of kitchen implements.
Provisions include all linen and bath towels and a starter pack including toilet paper, a sachet each of dishwashing liquid, dishwasher powder and laundry detergent, as well as tea, coffee, sugar and milk. It’s not a lot, but it gives holiday-makers chance to make a cup of coffee before provisioning for the holiday break
Sound insulation was perfect. We were close to the lift well, but not a sound penetrated the unit.
The whole set-up was very impressive.
The heated pool and spa on the ground floor saw good use from young Benjy and even the tennis court saw action. There is a $2 per person charge if you want to borrow equipment, but BYO and the use of court, in hour bookings, is free.
There is also a pool table ($2 a game) and also internet connection for a fee.
On top of that the complex hires out canoes for trips down the Maroochy River, which lies at the bottom of the garden. The complex also has a marina berth, which can be hired for $40 a week or $20 for three days or less – oh yes you can fish from the jetty too.
There is no immediate beach, but it only a short walk to the surf beach and a big shopping centre complete with a good supermarket.
The apartments are also a good jumping off spot for touring the picturesque hinterland towns and when we visited in March 2012 the countryside was looking breathtakingly beautiful and green. Most places are within a 30 minute drive – as is Australia Zoo.
After the excitement of the wedding it was like coming home as we sat in the lounge room supping cold champagne in celebration.
Rates vary from around $160 a night, but change according to length of stay - the longer the cheaper - and get on the Trafalgar mailing list because managers Grant and Britt Lundgren send out regular newsletters with special deals throughout the year.
There were no complaints at all from our varied age group party.

Not so much a comedy , more of a Drama. First the breakfast cooking set off the smoke alarm and instructions to stop were out of date, new alarms fitted recently and if not stopped ,Fire Brigade attends at great cost. Next the air-con began leaking and soaked half the lounge carpet. This required carpet lifting and large noisy fans going day and night for 2 days to dry floor and carpet and of course no a/c. Then a power point blew out cutting the circuit to all power points and appliances, caused by a faulty electric frypan, which was taken away but not replaced. Lounge lights began flickering. Also on our first day the water was cut off without notice or explanation, for 2 hours at breakfast time. We put up with all of this without complaint, but were disappointed when no apologies were offered by management. This was the third time we have stayed here with no previous problems and location is wonderful.

Responded 17 Nov 2014
First of all, my sincere apologies. All that you have said really did somehow happen to you and for that, aside from being terribly embarrassed, we are so sorry. How could all of these things happen in such a short period of time and all in the one apartment? I have never seen anything like it. We would like to offer you compensation for the disruption caused and would have done so on checkout, but you handed in the keys before the office was attended. You are a regular and valued guest and we would love to have you back. Please call me directly and I will discuss this with you. Before I finish, though, I would like to explain to you (and all that read this), is that in each and every case these incidents were unrelated and more importantly, unforeseeable. The water pump failed the entire building, without warning. The electric frypan shorted after being used without incident for many years; the air condition pipe blocked suddenly, also without any indication that there was a problem and the same with the flickering lights in the living room. As for the smoke detector instructions, the detectors were brand new and the correct smoke detector instructions were on a page attached to the welcome letter. I am sorry we forgot to cross out the old paragraph. This was an oversight on our part. In any case, I was also sure that we not only attended to every issue promptly (even those out of hours), but that we did apologise profusely each time. Maybe we were so focussed on dealing with the problems that we weren’t clear, but my husband and I were (and still are) really sorry and wish that there had been a way to avoid all of these things happening to you and impacting on your stay. We take the management and maintenance of Trafalgar very seriously and thank you for your feedback.
