Travellers' Choice
We offer well-appointed, self-catering cottages in the wonderous gateway to Chillagoe-Mungana Caves National Park. Escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life and transport yourself into a breathtaking landscape where time appears to have stood still. Chillagoe Cabins are based on the design of old miners’ huts and you'll feel as if you have drifted back in time - there is even an array of historical memorabilia in each cabin to complement the old-fashioned exterior. However, this is where the kinship with the past ends - each cabin is decked out with comfortable beds and luxury linen that lures you even during the daytime, fully equipped bathrooms, kitchen facilities, and digital television. If self-catering is off your bucket list, then join other dinner guests for some real sumptuous home-cooked Aussie Tucker, and don't fret over breakfast either, because that is all part of the package too, with a great continental breakfast poolside every morning that will set you up for the whole day. For those who wish to self-cater, a barbeque near the pool offers another opportunity to engage with the surrounding tropical gardens. Chillagoe is located on the Tableland 2.5 hours west of Cairns and is accessible by normal vehicles while there is the weekly Savannahlander Train just down the road. Chillagoe is a world re-known tourist destination for its above-ground limestone caves formed from the great Coral Reef some 400 million years ago. There are between 600 and 1000 caves located in the area of the Chillagoe – Mungana National Park. The Heritage Listed Refinery / Smelter once produced lead, silver, copper, and gold for the economy. There are many ruins around the town to be researched and investigated as well as native trees for visitors to wander about and they provide a habitat for an abundance of wildlife or take a personally catered tour, where you can explore some of the most interesting sites in Chillagoe.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Thank you Wendy and Colin for a great stay . The cabin was very comfortable, noiseproof and lots of extras such as filtered water and homemade biscuits . Breakfast (that was included ) we enjoyed and would recommend a visit to the cabins to visitors to Chillagoe.

Chillagoe is a lovely little town on the edge of the savannah in North Queensland. It has a bundle of things to see and experience and there is no better place to rest your head than here. Hosts Colin and Wendy are just incredible. Colin took us on a wonderful little tour around the sights while Wendy cooked us up a magical dinner. Just two great people who love where they live and sharing it with you. And their cabins are just so sweet - comfortable and well appointed - even a freshly cooked biscuit to have with your cuppa seals the deal. Just stay here - you'll be glad you did!

We stayed 3 nights in these delightful little cabins . Wonderful hosts Colin and Wendy made it so enjoyable for us. The cabins have everything you could want, breakfast was so good and information about the town and attractions was so informative. Could not recommend more to people who want to experience this little piece of history. Thanks to our hosts.

A fabulous personalised experience. Wendy and Colin are superior Hosts. Check-In was smooth. We were personally escorted to our cabins, which were wonderful and full of small details to make our stay all the more enjoyable. Beautiful toiletries, fluffy towels, home-made cookies - those little touches that make a difference. Lovely, private verandah area where we enjoyed drinks while bird-watching! The included, pool-side Continental Breakfast, was another surprise. All personalised, not buffet style, right down to the type of bread you would prefer! Outstanding. Next time I would stay two nights as it is the perfect place to just chill and relax with a good book!

Perfect. Enough said really. I can not fault a thing - well perhaps not having Foxtel but I can live without that but encouraged me to get to the and meet the locals which was great. Fantastic host - Wendy (sorry hubby we did not meet), great location, well appointed cabins and just a general bloody good vibe. I will be back.

My highest praises cant express how great this place is and how amazing the hosts are. I had some car trouble while sightseeing in Chillagoe and was more than happy to stay an extra day. The cabins are very well kept, comfortable, and have all the essentials. There is a relaxing pool in an undercover communal area where you can chill to some music. The breakfast service has you more than covered for a day of sightseeing. And even if you get used to all that, Collin and Wendy will still surprise you with how friendly, helpful and informative they are! I really cant express that point enough. I have been recommending this place to everyone I can and will keep doing so.

We stayed at Chillagoe Cabins and Tours in June and we are so glad we chose them. Wendy and Colin were great hosts who made us feel very welcome right from the start. The complimentary Continental Breakfast each morning was amazing! The Cabins were excellent with attention to detail. The beds were comfortable. We would be very happy to stay here again and recommend anyone looking at staying in Chillagoe to stay at Chillagoe Cabins and Tours A+++

Lovely cabins, linen, beds and comfort. What makes this place exceptional is the warm and helpful hosts. Delicious personally served breakfast beside the little pool. Special touches like freshly baked coconut shortbread warm from the oven. Wendy and Colin are outstanding hosts doing the little things to a very high standard. Thank you!!
