This was a wonderful place for a short getaway. Shelter Cove is an isolated area that requires a difficult drive, however the end result is worth it. The innkeepers were very accommodating. We went to bed hearing the waves crashing and woke up to the sound of seals barking.
Incredible place!!! We were nervous after reading some negative reviews and the warnings about the drive to get to Shelter Cove, but decided to give it a shot. Figured worst case it would be a Scooby Doo type adventure. I give this place “Zero Ghosts”. Some commented / complained that the front desk wasn’t staffed and keys were left out for you. True, but it worked wonderfully. And when we wanted to get a couple more coffee pods, a ring of the bell and we had them super quick. Room was beautiful and well appointed. Yes, the sliding door and screen were a little hard to open, but WOW what a view once outside! Restaurant options may be fewer, but we loved the places we stopped at. As for the road to get there, I imagined far worse! Glad we arrived in the daylight, and it was twisty turny, but not as difficult as the road to Yosemite. Only stayed one night, but can picture staying more and really relaxing!…
Great customer service! Donna and Jen were amazing. The views from the room are outstanding. The room was very nicely decorated, and clean. Microwave, mini fridge and Keurig were all clean and worked great. Flatscreen with Dish network for entertainment (when you are not gazing at the surf or walking on the beach). WiFi signal was solid and modern electrical connections in the night stands with AC plugs and USB charging built in. The hotel is decorated with lots of flowers and plants. The hotel directory in the room has everything you need for a great stay. Restaurant menus, maps and tide schedules.
Amazing location, mesmerizing views, tide pools and wildlife everywhere. Bring binoculars to view elephant seal colony, whales and sharks stalking prey. Dramatic! Limited food options so we appreciated kitchenette. We loved our room 21. Helpful and knowledgeable innkeeper. Shelter Cove definitely worth effort of the drive. So much scenery to take in
Wonderful location right on the ocean - fell asleep to the sound of the waves. Exceptionally clean and comfortable room with great sea views. Donna the innkeeper was very helpful. Highly recommend. Shelter Cove is a a small remote town on the Northern California coast.
The Oceanfront Inn is a nice little hotel in the town of Shelter Cove along Northern California's Lost Coast. It is very secluded with one winding road in and out and about an hour east to the nearest town. Travelers should take note that cell service is spotty ( i have Verizon and had 4G LTE coverage but it was really slow). The Town has a few Food/Drink Options (shout out to Gyppo Ale Mill and The Fish Tank Coffee Shop) and a General Store as you come into town. The Oceanfront Inn is easy to find and check in/out was a breeze. The room (#21) was nice and clean and the bed was comfortable. I liked that every room has a beautiful view of the Pacific ocean, i also liked the binder inside the room that had info about the town and the surrounding areas. My only (small) gripe is the Keurig didn't work. Other than that, i will be back soon! Sorry i didn't leave a tip, i didn't have any cash on me :\...thank you!…
We highly recommend this location. The innkeeper was very welcoming and informative. The room was wonderful! The bed and furniture were very comfortable. Everything was clean and it was so tastefully decorated. And the view from our balcony was nothing short of amazing! Absolutely loved seeing all of the seals and sea lions. The beach was just short walk away. If we ever return to the area, we will check in here again!
Shelter Cove is a little out of the way, but Wow! We just got here and already can’t wait to come back. The innkeeper is so welcoming and the room is perfect with a private balcony and an amazing view.
What a great place. The room was big and nicely furnished. Bed was very comfy. We really enjoyed sitting on the balcony and watching the ocean. The whirlpool tub was great. We had a chance to meet Donna, one of the innkeepers. She was very nice and friendly - even when I interrupted her dinner prep to get some ice. We explored the beach below the hotel at low tide and found several tide pools. Restaurants were easily walking distance. This is on our "do this again" list. And they are a motorcycle friendly hotel.
The location of this hotel is beautiful. Right on the water, amazing views from your room. The problem is the Innkeeper Lauren. She is unkind and scolded us the entire stay. The rooms need remodeling.
