We booked a superior double room for a weekend stay and were very disappointed. it was very tired and dated . Very dark old furniture and a huge dark wood four poster bed which dominated the room making it very dark. Felt uncomfortable all the time in the room as every part of the floor was extremely squeaky as was the bed every time you moved and every move could be heard by neighbouring room…..which also had the same problem. The bathroom was also desperately in need of refurbishment . The spa bath was very worn but I have to say it worked very well. No means of drying wet towels as no heated towel rail and no heat from radiator. Having seen pictures of some of the standard rooms we were expecting better in a superior room. The rest of the hotel was ok . Quite a nice bar area and a nice dining room. The dinner menu was ‘pub grub’ but very nice and well presented and the buffet breakfast was lovely. My ideal break is mostly about the room which is why I was so disappointed .

Stayed for 4 nights in a double room . Room decent size plenty storage for clothes nice bathroom with powerful shower over Bath. Iron&board tea&coffee. Comfy bed&pillows.. Only thing was no hairdryer. As its a older Hotel there's no lifts we were on first floor Room 5 so only one set stairs .. if any health conditions I would ask for ground (near pool or first floor rooms). We had read was on a very busy road that could be noisy on front rooms so we asked for a quiet room &we had a nice large window we could open overlooking garden &new Pods. Breakfast is buffet style which I prefer it's from 8-11. Full English. Cereals Toast, croissants fruit salad . Tea coffee &fruit Juices. We had 2 evening meals in restauranr Sunday dinner on Sunday &then braised beef &fish... food is good only suggestion I would make is they have 3 choices each night meat fish or veggie &it's same choice &price in bar as restaurant. I think the bar would be better offering more simple pub style doors even if just one dish a night Lasagne, Fish, chips Burger ,pie etc.as if u don't like fish or veggie u really only have choice of one meal. Staff are so friendly &will help u with anything we came on train &they helped us with finding nearby steam train to get to Lakeside so go aquarium or get ferry to Ambleside or bowness for few hours. The station for it is 10 min walk from hotel. I believe u can work to lakeland past Swan hotel approx 20 min walk but it rained so we got train which was 1 stop. . There's bus stop either side of hotel runs quite regular . I think young fella behind bar is called Callum he's a great fella, very helpful &friendly 🍸🍺 Theres nice garden back of restaurant but due to rain we didn't get to use it. There's a nice lake opposite side of road u can walk by, very scenic . The pool area is little dated but clean &functional only suggestion I would make is the jacuzzi needs replacing as u have to get out walk across pool to switch it on when it times out &it's all tiles round jacuzzi quite dated. Pool was nice not freezing . Theres a steam room to &a small gym . The ladles change room again is very dated shower with old shower curtain in these times dosent seem hygienic .. There's nice large quiet lounge to with open fire &TV if u want Read r Relax. Would return.

I stayed in the Newby Bridge Hotel for 2 nights last week. The room with fine, with an amazing four post bed. I enjoyed using the swimming pool and sauna on the a rainy day in the Lakes. Evenings at the hotel were very enjoyable, with good food in the restaurant, and then good beer and chat in the Huntsmans Bar after. Would happily stay at this hotel again.

We stayed in one of new cabins with an outside jacuzzi for the weekend and it was a really lovely weekend break. Firstly the staff are so helpful, Alex was brilliant. The cabins are really well thought out, we were traveling with teenagers so plenty of plug sockets for all of the devices, wood burning stove, a sofa bed that could be folded away during the day for more space, nest of tables for snacks, smart TV etc and the place was spotless. When we ran out of firelighters and someone from housekeeping brought more in a couple of minutes so more great service. We booked direct and were surprised with a box of chocolates, some nice crisps and a bottle of Prosecco wine. It was a really nice touch after the drive and unexpected. The cabins are also quite private with plants etc between each of them. There’s an outside patio area with seating too. We had breakfast in the main hotel and it was great, good selection, catered for all dietary needs and the food was tasty. Staff in the restaurant were also really friendly. It’s a great location for exploring further into the lakes too.

Tired rooms. No working shower in en-suite. Sink didn’t actually hold any water. Dressing table missing most of its handles. No WiFi forthwith majority of our stay. Would we stay again….absolutely not
