We were greeted at reception by friendly staff and luggage taken to our room. We stayed in a Lakeview Suite (73) for 3 nights. The suite consisted of a spacious bedroom with extra large comfortable bed and separate sitting room. Both rooms overlooked the lake. The bathroom had a bath with over rain shower. A negative point about the shower is firstly, I detest rain showers. Not everyone wants to wash their hair each time they take a shower but also I found it strange that there was no little hand shower in the set up. The bathroom was also very hot but on speaking to reception a delightful engineer appeared and adjusted the radiator for us. There is no fridge in the room but having enquired at reception a small (quiet and efficient) fridge was provided. The hotel is a little bit tired but very clean. It is an old building and one would not expect everything to be in pristine condition. General housekeeping in the rooms is currently carried out every other day but we were happy for someone to come in and tidy up daily and change towels etc. We had booked to stay on a B&B basis but with the hotel being a bit remote we decided to book for dinner on two of our three nights. I would say dinner bookings were made 2-3 weeks before our visit and it was just as well because if we had waited until arrival we would have been very hard pushed to get a table. Dinner was an absolute delight with plenty of choice both from the food menu and wine list. Breakfast was also first class with plenty of choice from hot and cold buffets and food to order. The staff were generally helpful and very pleasant and if there was something you wanted they did their best to meet the request. I did not use the spa myself but my husband had a swim every morning in what he said was an excellent pool. A stone's throw from the hotel is where you get the ferry to Windermere and beyond. This is ideal if you did not want to drive as parking in Windermere is quite difficult. Would we stay here again? I think the answer to that is Yes.

We stayed 4 nights in a Woodland View room, which was spacious, had two comfortable armchairs and a lovely comfortable bed. We had ordered dinner each night, included in the deal, and it was very good. On Wednesday, the dinner was a buffet, but equally good. The spa is impressive, although there are currently limitations on numbers due to Covid. The staff were all helpful and friendly, without exception. The atmosphere was informal and welcoming. The only downside was the weather. It rained 2 days solid, so we just had to chill out. There are lake cruises and a steam railway on the doorstep, and of course, the Spa. A perfect destination really for relaxing, so perhaps not for those who like high intensity active holidays, but for us seniors, it was bliss. We can't wait to go again.

Beautiful hotel in a beautiful location overlooking the lake. Our room was large, clean and had a lovely seating area in an alcove by the window. Plenty of tea and coffee and bottled water in the room. The ginger shortbread biscuits were very yummy. We also had robes and slippers. Shower was brilliant very powerful and always lots of hot water. We couldn’t fault the staff, very attentive from the minute you arrived, helping you with the luggage and even parking the car for you. We had a tour of the hotel so we knew where everything was. The breakfast were superb, you could tell they used good quality produce. Lovely fresh orange juice everything was top notch. The buffet dinner on the Wednesday evening was again superb. The only criticism I would make is there are no prices on the menu. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would recommend this hotel.

The whole place LOOKS amazing, on a beautiful day it feels as if your in another country! The truffle fries we had were delicious, the coffee was good, the ambiance relaxing and classy. The young lady that greeted us and served us was exceptional, professional, and warm (Leama). This will definitely be on our list has a place to visit. If your contemplating going, do!!!

We stayed at Lakeside Hotel to celebrate my wife’s birthday and our anniversary. We got there in the rain on Friday night and the receptionist came outside to greet us. We didn’t touch the luggage again until it was in our room and the car was parked for us. This excellent service continued throughout our 2 night break in the restaurant, spa and conservatory. The food was incredible too and attention to detail first class. Yes the decor was dated and mixed in parts of the hotel but the views more than made up for it. The spa treatment was perfect to de-stress and everywhere clean. The woodland view room and patio were ideal for what we wanted, being picky the pillows were a bit soft! Finally, breakfast served until 11.30 and check out at 12 really add to the service! Would definitely stay again….it’s not modern but should a country house hotel be that!!
