#2 of 2 hotels in Cartmel
Travellers' Choice
Uplands Inn offers stunning views of the Leven Estuary and Morecambe Bay due to being 1 mile (or a 15 minute walk downhill) from the village of Cartmel on the fell. Originally a large residential house, the Hotel benefits from two acres of peaceful gardens which are perfect for walking dogs, al fresco dining, summer sunbathing or just taking in the views. The hotel is in the ideal location for visiting South Lakeland and the stunning Cumbrian coast. It is also a top choice for those visiting local events such as the Cartmel Races, the Steam Gathering Festival and the many events held by Holker Hall to name but a few. Furthermore, as the Inn is only a short drive from the M6 Motorway guests travel comfortably from a range of locations between Scotland and London. For guests, there is a choice of 8 comfortable bedrooms, 5 of which benefit from the stunning countryside views.

We arrived at 11.50am , knocked on the door to be greeted by " we dont open until 12pm" . The gentleman was incredibly rude and not welcoming at all. We decided not to stay in the Uplands inn and book into another bed and breakfast in Cartmel square which were far more accommodating and much friendlier. We would definitely not recommend this place. Awful customer service

Wanted to have a couple of nights break, didn't really mind where! Chose Uplands at random - so glad we did. We had a fantastic room in the annex which was big, airy, clean and had a big bathroom, with more cupboards than we've ever seen in a hotel before! There was a great breakfast selection with everything being locally sourced, cooked and presented to perfection. We had also booked two evening meals in the restaurant, again the food was excellent with a decent choice. All staff were very friendly and most helpful while remaining professional at all times.
