At Rodd Crowbush Golf & Beach Resort, guests revel in the pristine cleanliness of the rooms and facilities, although some areas could use a touch-up. The service receives mixed reviews, ranging from highly accommodating to disappointingly untrained. The resort's location is lauded for its breathtaking views and idyllic setting for beach weddings. However, the rooms are often criticized for being out-of-date and occasionally uncomfortable. While the amenities, including the golf course and beach access, garner high praise, some travelers question the value, pointing to the need for renovations and the high cost of food and accommodations.

Spent a wonderful weekend in the cottages with a group of 8 couples. Cottages are designed for sharing with two couples easily providing privacy and separate washrooms for each bedroom. Cottages were clean, spacious and contained everything that was needed. Resort was quiet and staff were available and willing to help with any Assistance needed. We enjoyed the large backyard areas for socializing with our group. Lovely beach for soaking up the rays and great for those who love a nice beach walk. Shuttle service to and from the beach was quick and efficient. We enjoyed a beautiful supper at David’s restaurant, meals were delicious and staff very accommodating. Only suggestion would be additional lawn furniture such as picnic tables for outdoor eating.

Beautiful location and beach, but everything else was a very poor experience!

1) at check-in, no one wanted to help us with luggage. We were told that we can use their trolley to bring our luggage to our room! I expect better from a hotel 3 stars or higher.

2) I understand that you have to schedule room service (given COVID), but when we asked for room service - we got told we have to put the dirty towels, glasses and garbage outside! The room only got cleaned once I complained that it might have been easier to stay at AirBnb!

3) on a rainy day, we order some food/room service. It was some of the worst food we’ve had at hotels. How can you get flatbread wrong!? The pasta was horrible as well!

My family was biking across PEI on the Confederation Trail and needed a place to stay on the east side, the hotel was a few kms off the trail network but proved to be worth the extra peddle! They stored our bikes inside overnight, we didn't golf, but we used their shuttle service to visit the beach, sit by the tended campfire and watch the sunset. We booked early at a spring promotion rate and stayed mid July for a very fair price, especially considering the facilities, location, service and view!!! We would definitely stay again.

Our king suite did not match the description of that particular room on their website. They mention accessible features. Alas ours had none. The bathtub as a 1980s jetted tub, close to 4 ft high with a shower head. We were offered an accessible room, not a suite and we declined it. One person could not manage entry into the shower and had to use the spa/pool shower with nary a hook on walls for towels or gowns. The dining room was only open from Thursday to Sunday, but on our day of arrival, a Saturday, the chef hadn't shown up. The furniture is date and uncomfortable to say the least. There was no daily cleaning of the suite and we had to purchase materials for bathroom and kitchenette. They said this due to Covid protocols, but seemed more likely due to a shortage of staff.

The 3 golf courses in the package were very good and a great experience.

Unless you want fried, overpriced, and a tired bar food menu - do not eat at the restaurant. Unfortunately, due to location there are no close alternatives, so if you want a satisfying dining experience, stay somewhere else. Room service phone line was not picked up - staff were disorganised. The plethora of wetlands on the golf course generate millions of mosquitoes, so you cannot enjoy the outdoors. Merely walking around kicks them up. Your room will be indundated. The front desk staff are golden.

In general, for what I paid (about $350 CAD per night not including golf), the rooms were unmaintained dumps with horrible décor from the 70s. Wood finishes were worn out, the bath tub had a huge crack in the side of it, the shower control lever felt like it was about to fall off and it was hard to adjust the temperature. A suite should always have a small microwave (a $100 expense to the property!) and this did not. Lord only knows how old the carpet was and what grows in it, but it looked more than 20 years old. The toilet shook and rattled every time I sat on it and would barely flush a turd. The outside of the building had sheets of paint falling off. Rodd obviously is glad to take your money but provide no value for it. Too bad that our group of a dozen enjoyed the golf, but we all agreed we'd never stay at a Rodd resort ever again. I frequently stay at the Quality Inn in Summerside and for $130, they offer far better rooms that are modernized and maintained, just to put your $350 room charge in perspective in a similar location. The food was ok but we were really tired of the menu after 5 days.... change it up a bit or even have a cheeseburger or club sandwich as an alternative fare. Rodd should be ashamed of how badly the rooms and building furnishings are maintained and not modernized.

Purchased a swing and stay package. This included a night stay, a round of golf per person and food vouchers. Upon arrival, we were told our room was not ready and would call us when it was. It was pouring rain, so we drove around for 2 hours waiting for a phone call. We never did receive one, so we drove back to the resort and had to wait 15 - 20 minutes in line to check due to the long lines. We asked for our golf, and food /beverage vouchers and they stated they had none left but to check back later.

When we got to our room, we were putting things away when we noticed dead beetles in the nightstand.

Later that evening we went back to the front desk to inquire about the vouchers when we were told we would have to call the clubhouse - which was closed. We called in the morning and we were told to talk to the front desk. The front desk then printed off our golf vouchers but said there were no food or beverage coupons and just to charge it to our room and they would make the adjustment and promised we would not be charged for it. When we went to get our food and beverages at the clubhouse they had no idea what was going on. No surprise, $58.00 was charged to our credit card for the food.

The restaurant at the resort was also closed, and the only place to eat was the clubhouse.

While we were golfing, the girls driving the beverage cart drove by us several times and not once did they ask if we would like anything.

Dead bugs and poor service made the experience disappointing

This was a very good value- a low rate to stay, and vouchers for food, spa products and golf were included. The pool was open and available , not crowded. Beach access was close and the food was good. We didn't play golf, but lots of people were using the course, and it looked beautiful. Their pet policy is amazing, no extra charge and the entire resort (other than pool or restaurant) is pet friendly. We had a lovely time. The ground floor rooms with patio doors were amazing. Having fridge in room was great, although it was quite noisy. The ice machine on our floor was broken, but it was easy to go up a floor to access another one. Not crowded. Very quiet.

We are a family if 4 + dog. This is a very dog friendly property. We stayed at the very beginning of September, and it was lovely. Every staff member we encountered was professional and incredibly friendly. The 2 bedroom cottage was exceptionally clean and very well appointed. Features include an electric fireplace, A/C, full kitchenette (w/fridge/ stove, pots and pans) a BBQ, screened in porch, 3 flat screen tv’s, WIFI, a king size bedroom with en-suite and jacuzzi tub, and a second bedroom with 2 beds. The beds and pillows are the best I have every experienced. The beach is beautiful, and we had it mostly to ourselves. The kids loved the pool and the complimentary ride to the beach on a golf cart for an evening bonfire. We can’t wait to go back!

We booked a two nite stay at the Rodd Crowbush and upgraded to a King Suite based on the webpage advertising a full patio deck with views of the Links. We were given Room 101 with a view of the side of the hotel driveway. The room was dark and dated. We asked to be moved and we’re informed the hotel was full and they wouldn’t guarantee we would be moved the next day. I had to keep calling to check the following and it was not confirmed until 4:00 the following afternoon. I was made to feel like I was not only inconveniencing them but that I was being unreasonable.
They did eventually move us the second day and included an upgrade but it was a very disappointing experience.

Hi, do the one bedroom cottages have barbeques on the deck or balcony.

The bbqs were on the ground level. Our one room cottage was the upper level. We would have had to go downstairs with everything if we wanted to bbq.

Hi - you probably don't know this, but the questions you ask via this method go to the people who reviewed the property. Anyway, with regards to distance, Google Map is a good source of information. Between the resort and the airport, distance is about 30 km; between downtown Charlottetown and the resort, it's about 38 km. [To use Google Maps, go to DIRECTIONS then plug in the from and to locations, it will give you the driving route, distance and anticipated travel time] I can't help with the taxi rates since I didn't use a cab. The best thing to do is to contact the hotel directly with your question. There's a contact box on the right hand side of the Tripadvisor webpage and should have a link to the hotel's web site etc. Good luck and enjoy your trip!
