I was headed over for a one night work trip and thought I could stay at a local motel or try the Bed and Breakfast thing. Glad I chose the latter. Decided to call the Davis Brook Retreat directly instead of book impersonally through a travel site. Rosette was pleasant and welcoming. I was uncertain about windy weather and possible ferry delays. She was kind enough to hold my reservation and not bill me until I could confirm. I was greeted by her husband Bob a charming English gentleman who showed me the room and gave me keys and some tips for my day outing. I ended up working out and swimming at the close by aquatic centre. Then out for a nice dinner at The Shift Kitchen Tapas Bar. A great day. I returned home to enjoy a beverage and some great conversation with Bob and Rosette who were very nice people and gracious hosts. I can wholeheartedly recommend this as an alternative to typical travel. The bed was cozy and comfortable and the home is set in an idyllic setting on a quiet road in the wilderness. Clean, Private room and bathroom. Top notch! Thanks for a great stay!

This secluded gem is not to be missed! It sits on 3+ acres just a few miles from Sechelt and you couldn't ask for nicer accommodations or a friendlier host. Lili goes out of her way to make you feel comfortable, relaxed and welcomed.

We enjoyed our short, 2-night stay and wish we could've stayed longer. Our room was bright, clean and had everything we needed. There's even a pool and hot tub out back, and we took advantage of the hot tub on our first night there.
The mornings are a true delight. Our first morning, Lili served a great continental breakfast with juice, fruit, yogurt, cheese and a small muffin. Our second morning, Lili pulled out all the stops: she served pancakes, bacon, eggs and a few other items which I can’t remember. But it was all delicious and filled us up for a day of hiking. Do yourself a favor: go to Sechelt, and treat yourself to this retreat. (My Expedia review omitted this description.)

It's such a quiet peaceful setting, surrounded by very tall cedar trees and overlooking Porpoise Bay. The house and our guest room were absolutely lovely. The breakfast was delicious and again the setting superb and all through our gracious Host, Lili.

My mother lived in Sechelt and she passed away late last year. As Executor for her Estate, I had cause to visit Sechelt in April of 2019. I booked into a different B&B but I needed to book for my eldest sister as well and she was traveling with her dog. The place I was staying in didn’t take pets. I did a search and found Davis Brook, they had vacancy and they accept pets so I booked my sister in there.

My sister RAVED about Rosette and Bob, about their kindness and hospitality and about how great the property is. She said that Rosette and Bob wanted to host the family when we returned to Sechelt in the fall for our mother’s memorial.

My wife and I booked into Davis Brook along with my eldest sister and her husband and we stayed there in mid October 2019.

The property is located near the Sechelt Inlet and I will attach a photo of the view from the dining room window to this review.

It rained the whole time we were out there on The Sunshine Coast, so we didn’t roam around the outside of the property. It was very nice though. Recently renovated and clean with en-suite bathrooms on the two main rooms and access to a shared bathroom for a third room. The two main rooms are located on the second floor - The Taj Mahal (Rosette is of Indian heritage) being the larger one and The Windsor (Bob is of British heritage) being the smaller one. We were in The Windsor and it was perfect for a couple. My sister, her husband and their Doberman stayed in The Taj Mahal.

A challenge for some visitors to B&B’s is the fact that, unlike in a hotel, you interact with the hosts. We stayed in a B&B once where the host talked and talked and we really didn’t have any way to politely get out of the conversation and that wasn’t a pleasant experience.

Bob and Rosette will give you the space you need, with limited interaction, if that is your preference. But I would recommend that visitors don’t cheat themselves out of the opportunity to get to know Rosette and Bob. They are fascinating people, highly intelligent and knowledgeable, each with their own rich histories and talents.
My sister was right when she raved about them.
Our youngest sister and her husband stayed in a motel in Sechelt but, throughout the few days we were there, they came up to spend time with us and Bob and Rosette as much as possible. We all went out for dinner together on the night before my mom’s memorial and, the next day, Rosette and Bob attended the memorial with us. We all went back to Davis Brook after the memorial and I played guitar and Rosette, who is a beautiful singer, and I sang songs together. It was quite a “wake” for my mom and a great party all around.

My wife and I were out for dinner last weekend with my youngest sister and her husband (we all live in Ontario) and we all talked about how much we loved Rosette and Bob and how we all miss them.

These are the things in life that you can’t plan for, they just happen naturally, so I’m not saying you’re going to visit Davis Brook and repeat our experience. I am saying that, with Bob and Rosette, you will be well cared for and the opportunity for a rich interaction is there if you want to engage and get to know them.

If you just want peace and quiet in a nice, clean place there is an abundance of that available at Davis Brook as well.

And, though we didn’t get to enjoy it first hand, the pool looked very nice too!

Dear John and Lisa, How very kind of you to give us this rave review, thank you ever so much. Allow us to assure you that it was such a real pleasure to meet you both together with the family. Every so often people come into our lives and make memories and as we responded to Kath, your entire family did that for us. We really appreciate the kind and most thoughtful words, it means a lot to us. To share our home with beautiful people is totally our pleasure. Thanks ever so much once again and we so look forward to welcoming you back. We do try to ensure that our guests are comfortable, happy and try to create a "home away from home" experience. Feedback such as yours that makes us know that all the hard work and customer service we put in, is all so worth it. We fondly speak of all of you and Bob says if you lived in Sechelt, there would be great music together. Thank you for taking the time to play for us. We sincerely hope that you will return and give us the opportunity to host you again. Thank you ever so much and stay blessed and hope to see you soon. Merry Christmas and a very happy New Year. Bob and Rosette Best wishes for a great, safe and Merry Christmas and may 2020 bring only good health, peace and joy. Bob and Rosette

We stayed for 2 nights and had an absolutely wonderful experience. The house and room were immaculately clean and well laid out. We booked on fairly short notice (a few hours to arrival) but our room was still well prepped and ready for our arrival. The property is serene and picture perfect - Nestled in a secluded wooded area with views of the mountains and ocean. I probably had one of best nights sleep here that I've had in as long as I can remember. Aside from the great room and picturesque setting, perhaps the best part of our stay was our gracious hosts Bob and Rosette. They made every effort to make us feel welcome and that we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We even enjoyed an evening just conversing over wine with them. We are happy about the great stay, but are delighted having left making new friends... Davis Brooke Retreat will be our go-to place whenever we're on the Sunshine Coast.

It is such a pleasure for us to write a review for the Davis Brook B&B. If you are interested in staying at a beautiful B&B with a homely atmosphere, nestled away and hosted by two individuals who genuinely love running a retreat - then read further!

We were lucky enough to find ourselves on the Island and at this B&B this past summer (2016). We stayed in one of the two rooms they offered, complete with its own bathroom and plenty of storage.. along with all the small things that one might need (towels, slippers, spare sheets, etc.). Everything was clean and tidy and Bob and Rosette were keen to check up on whatever we needed.

Bob and Rosette also offered use of the living room, their kitchen and dinning area as we needed and were so gracious in terms of respecting whether we wanted some "down time" alone on our own, or if we were interested in some "social time", looking for their company and that of other guests...

It is worth noting that this couple share a very interesting history with Sechelt as they are well in tune with the community and have been in the area for quite some time. They had some great recommendations for things to do and places to eat.

Lastly, it was our wedding anniversary the week we came to stay at the B&B and I kindly asked if it would be possible to organize a small breakfast for my husband. Bob and Rosette went above and beyond to help me plan a surprise spread for my husband and when requested, they even joined in the celebration for a bit! It is a memory that we will both cherish for a very long time.

If you are looking for a place that will offer you a retreat and you enjoy meeting new and intriguing people, this is the place and these are the people you want to stay with. Thank you Bob and Rosette for the memory of a lifetime. Can't wait to see you next summer! T&J

It was such a pleasure to have you both, we felt like we had met you some where in our past, suffice it to say we both enjoyed your company too. It was entirely our pleasure to be able to join in your celebration, being away from family we have precious few occasions, so we thoroughly enjoyed it. Hope you do come back soon. We look forward to welcoming you both again. Best wishes, Rosette and Bob

I stayed at the Davis Brook Retreat for four nights while visiting Sechelt on business. I have never slept better away from home; the bed was that comfortable! The room was large and immaculate, and the property is lovely. Rosette and Bob were wonderful, friendly hosts. The food was simply amazing, especially Rosette's authentic Indian cooking. I highly recommend staying here, and am looking forward to returning with my husband next time!

Although my husband (Brian) and I did not stay at Davis Brook Retreat we were welcomed to come and visit family that was staying there. I didn't want to leave
it was so warm and welcoming, the grounds are beautiful so full of nature, peaceful, a true retreat. A place you just want to read a book, take a long walk or even better visit with Bob and Rosette as they are the real treat in the package. So worldly and knowledgeable on so many levels but you have to ask the questions they do not want to impose on you. They are just as interested in your stories too so don't hesitate to engage, share a glass of wine and maybe even get Rosette to sing, she has a gift she doesn't share enough. They really are most interesting so really you don't need to pack a book. I hope to bring my daughter to Davis Brook Retreat in the near future as she suffers from anxiety and to me this is the perfect place to disconnect from your life and reconnect with yourself the perfect place to go and just "BE" We arrived as strangers and left as Family! Bob and Rosette will forever stay in my heart.
