I booked this hotel through Priceline and paid in full with PayPal (I did the surprise online exclusive option on Priceline, not knowing ahead of time exactly which hotel I would be booking) and the Rodeway Inn was what I ended up with. This hotel is in shambles, it is decrepit and filthy! Upon checking in, they required a $150 deposit, and I did not bring cash with me, so they would not let me check in, despite my room already being paid in full. I was from out of state, so I had to call my daughter and have her put the $150 deposit on her credit card. The clerk said the deposit information was in my confirmation email from Priceline, and N O it was not! The swimming pool was closed, they stated it was because of COVID, yet every hotel surrounding Rodeway Inn had their pools open and fully operational. The main clerk "QUEEN" was rude and totally unprofessional, unpleasant, and said inappropriate things to guests. She was outside in the front of the hotel smoking cigarettes her entire shift and was blatantly dismayed when she had to get up from her rocking chair to assist guests with check•in or check•out. Since I had already paid for the hotel reservation in full via PayPal, I would have walked right out of there, but I had no extra money with me, so I was stuck in an awful situation. The room was tidy, but the TV didn't work, there was someone's leftover food in the refrigerator, the bathroom towels had black stains on them, and the bathroom ceiling was literally crumbling and falling apart, even though I could see obvious patch marks in the plaster. Everything in the bathroom that had metal on it had rust spots all over it, and the bottom inch of the mirror was corroded on the back. The floors in the main room had some sort of laminate flooring, and it was so dirty that my clean bare feet were filthy after walking around on it, so I had to wear shoes in the room and wash my feet before I went to bed. Their website also said free breakfast was included, but again, they claimed they can't serve breakfast due to COVID, but would provide coffee and juice. They provided NOTHING. I have many other complaints with photos to prove my claims, but I'll just leave it at this.

I booked online through choice hotels.com for a prepaid non refundable stay. I was going to see my son for his Birthday who is stationed at New River Marine Base. I drove about 13 hours from NY with my 17 and 6 year old daughters. I knew check in wasn't until 3pm but we arrived earlier than expected and thought I would ask about possibly checking in early. When we pulled up to hotel we parked in front of the building and noticed a man in the huge window on the 2nd floor right in front of our vehicle smoking something from a pipe(not a tobacco pipe) my 17 year old was concerned but I told her not to worry just lock the doors while I went in to ask about an early check in. I went into lobby to ask women at desk about possibly getting into our room early, she was very rude and told me not at all any earlier than 3. So I said ok no problem I will come back later. Upon walking out my 17 year old daughter is screaming for me to hurry back to the car. I ask what is wrong and she points to the window where we saw the man who is now naked from the waist down masterbating in plain view staring right at us. He wasn't at all concerned about the death stare I gave him, in fact it seemed to further excite him. I got in the driver's seat and backed away as fast as I could so my daughter's didn't have to see any more. I pulled into the Walmart parking lot next door and called the hotel to let her know what happened. She asked me what room # the man was in which I didn't have the answer to, I told her it was the 3rd window from office on 2nd floor. I was offered no apology or any kind of remorse for what my children had just witnessed, she just asked what would you like me to do about it? I replied that we didn't feel safe staying there and that I would like a refund so we could find a safer place to stay. I was told that I booked with no refunds and I would not be given one. I then asked to speak with a manager and was told that there wasn't one available. I then informed her that I would be calling the police and her reply was "go ahead, they won't do anything ". I then called Choice hotels and explained what happened and they told me it was up to the hotel to issue the refund and put me on hold while they called the hotel only to hear that the hotel refused to give me a refund and sorry that happened to you but there is nothing we can do. I was about to call the police department when I noticed 3 police cars across the street, so I pulled over there and asked to speak to one of the police officers. I explained what happened only to hear the officer say "what can I tell you, it is payday weekend in Jacksonville NC", and then he walked away back to what he was doing. I was shocked by the response that I got, as if it was a normal occurrence. I called the police department who sent another officer to speak with me only to find d out that because the man that exposed himself to my daughters and I was inside of his hotel room at the time that there was nothing they could do, and advised me not to stay in the city of Jacksonville at all. This happened on July 30th, my sons Birthday. Being a Friday I was unable to find another room until Saturday afternoon in Topsail an hour away and 2x the price (another Choice Hotel). I have spoke with managers from Choice hotels and the Rodeway Inn and both refuse to give me a refund for my 3 night stay . Extremely dissatisfied and highly recommend not bringing your family to this hotel. I will definitely never stay at Rodeway Inn again and will never book again with Choice hotels.

NO STARS...Reserved online a king suite for one night. Got a king room with palmetto bugs on the floor. Definitely not a suite. Elongated toilet with round seat. Found vape pipe on loveseat. Coffee pot in room no coffee. Asked for extra pillows (2) and a blanket, got one pillow and a bedspread. Telephone didn't work. Towels were very dingy and old. Not our idea of a $106 stay. Pool closed due to covid. No breakfast, just coffee and juice, also due to covid. Are they cutting corners or what? NEVER AGAIN WILL WE DO A RODEWAY INN.

The room stunk to high heaven as if it has not been cleaned in a month. There were dead flies on the window sill and the side of the mattress had mold on it. The clerk at the desk was not helpful and didn't seem to know what she was doing. Very disappointed.

Every metal surface full of rust. Weird goop on wall. Hair on wrinkled, stained sheets. Tv turns on but doesn’t work. No hand towel. Half the lightbulbs don’t work. WiFi warning site doesn’t belong to owner.
