Property's Favourite Review
We headed to Hendersonville for a spontaneous get away. Decided to look for a room on the way. We found the Inn on a google search. It was easy to book online. Later, Lindsay from the front desk called to see when we would arrive because check ins after 8:30 incur an extra charge. We were appreciative of her call as our ETA would be right around that time. As we approached, we missed the turn due to road construction and called back to get directions. Lindsay "talked us" there and checked us in. She was TOTALLY DELIGHTFUL!. Our room was cozy and quiet. The bathroom was well-lit and spacious. Good shower. Bed and pillows were comfy. Breakfast was AMAZING! Try the yogurt parfait! We loved picking out our breakfast items the night before. Check-out was easy. Just placed the keys in the bowl.

This is our 5th or 6th stay at the Waverly Inn and each time is better than the last! The owners Tracey and Mike are friendly and helpful and want to make your stay the best in every way. They are taking all necessary safety precautions during Covid but it doesn’t make the Inn feel any less warm and inviting. Masks were worn by all the staff all the time, plenty of hand sanitizing stations could be found, and the afternoon appetizers and drinks were served beautifully wrapped for each guest room. We can’t wait to come back next year!

Stayed two nights at 1898 Waverly. Enjoyed the hospitality, the great breakfast and the wine and cheese in the evening. It was a pleasure to visit with the other guests and the owners on the front porch. I felt they were doing a great job with the Covid protocols. You select your breakfast from a menu the night before and are given some choices as to the time you wish to dine. The evening cheese tray was served on individual plates wrapped in plastic. The Inn is old, of course, and is very charming, but could definitely use some upgrade. The outdoor furniture is worn and some painting could make everything brighter. I was not given a choice of a specific room when I made the reservation on line, only a choice of bed size or configuration. The room we were given was in need of some TLC. Evidence of previous leaks - maybe a fresh coat of paint would help. Carpet is a little worn and slightly soiled. Air conditioner did not do a very good job of cooling the room. Overall the room was clean, bed was comfy and bathroom was well supplied with towels and toiletries. I was able to see into some of the other rooms on the 1st and 2nd floors and they appeared to have received upgrades. Even though I was not totally satisfied with the room, I would consider staying here again but I would try to be selective on the room. Generally we were pleased with our stay and did not make any complaint to the owners.

Thanks for your feedback! We are continuing to upgrade the property and have made improvements in 13 of our 15 rooms to date. Your room, the Silverbell Tree room is our most popular king room but is scheduled for new flooring before the year is out. New porch furniture has also been ordered so you'll certainly see more improvement with your next visit. Safe travels and we hope to see you again real soon.

The Waverly is situated just at the edge of downtown; snow had caused many shops and restaurants to close but Tracey and Mike cleared the parking lot and walkway for safe arrival. Tracy was warm and welcoming when we arrived; provided menus for breakfast; updates on dining options; and invited us to join the other guest for a social hour...and we did. We had a very pleasant afternoon meeting new friends and sharing a couple (premium) beverages...in the house.
Our room was comfortable; like older homes the add-on bathroom is a bit cramped but sufficient for all of our needs. Quiet, comfortable, and private.
Breakfast was just as ordered and presented by two lovely staff ladies. Always available to refresh your coffee or juice.
We highly recommend the Waverly Inn for places to stay in Hendersonville; we look forward to our return visit with famy and friends. Thank you!

We are two sexagenarian couples who travel Europe and the US extensively with the associated meals! Thus our reviews are sometimes a little more critical than some you may read. And in regarding B&B's we are reluctant to be critical. Owner's really work hard and it is a tough business. The owner's were very nice and accommodating. However, we also believe that constructive criticism is good for the consumer and owners. Having said that....
The Inn was once a boarding house and is very charming with an inviting front porch with sitting. It has 15 rooms and also offers massages. The first floor has some nice period pieces in the hallway and sitting areas.
Our room was on the second floor and featured a four post, carved oak bed. It also had end tables, a chest of drawers, desk and a sitting area with table. The bathroom included a footed tub with shower. There is a balcony just off the second floor hallway with rocking chairs that is very nice. With the exception of the bed, the room was cheaply furnished. The bedding was very comfortable however the Inn is located on the main street so the road noise was unpleasant and disturbed our sleep.
The Inn, being located on the main street, makes the downtown very accessible by walking which we enjoyed. There are many fine places to shop and eat just a few minutes walk away. The town is attractively decorated with plants and trees and is very inviting.
The Inn serves a full breakfast each morning as well as a wine and cheese in the late afternoon. The dining room is continually set with ice water and tea, hot coffee and several teas, and an assortment of drinks, as well as snacks. However, it has been our experience that the breakfasts are notable and are one of the things we look forward too. The breakfast at the Inn was nice but nothing you couldn't get at the local Waffle House or Dennys. That was a disappointment. Oh, did I mention you pay extra for the breakfast!
The afternoon wine down was very nice with a glass of wine or beer to you liking, and a small charcuterie board of cheese, crackers and fruit. The pimento cheese is their own recipe and is very good. Oh, did I mention you pay extra for this too!
For us the Inn was just OK; nothing special to make the visit really memorable.

My husband and I came up for the weekend and we were blown away by The Waverly Inn. Mike took us in as walk ins and showed us a couple rooms they had available, we chose one right next to the second floor patio, Spring Beauty. It was perfect for us! Nice and clean, comfy bed, everything we needed and more. They offer social (distance) hour which includes two drinks every evening and then a five star breakfast every morning, that alone was worth it to me. I will dream about that banana pecan french toast probably for the rest of my life, lol. I can't tell you how refreshing it was to feel truly taken care of, Tracy, Mike and their sweet dog Daisy were all so amazing!! So welcoming and friendly! We loved our time there and can't wait for the next time we get to come up to Hendersonville, we won't be able to stay anywhere else!

With a view of Covid 19 in our minds, we were very careful in choosing this B&B and we were well rewarded. It was our 50th Anniversary. We had a beautiful room with a great walk in shower. Everyone wore masks, all guests were separated in the dining area or big southern porch. The hosts were gracious and we visited little Daisy the dog as often as she was there in the office. There is a Putt-Putt golf course across the street. The historic town of Henderson was plentiful with shops and eateries. Also the inn is close to national forests for hiking. We really enjoyed ourselves.

We have stayed at the 1898 Waverly Inn on a number of occasions for the past six years. For a bed and breakfast to be successful, it must have great innkeepers. Mike and Tracey meet the high standards and expectations for a successful bed and breakfast. Indeed, they are exemplary innkeepers.
The Inn is centrally located in Hendersonville and within walking distance of restaurants, shops, and the downtown area. The Inn has character and charm. The size of the rooms is adequate. If you have difficulty walking or climbing, however, I would avoid securing a room on the third floor.
As a bonus, if you want to visit Asheville, it is only within a 35-45 minutes drive depending upon traffic of course.
For breakfast, you have a wide choice of many items and meals, including but not limited to eggs (made to order to your own liking) , homemade sausage, crispy and tasty bacon fruit bowl, toast, jams and butter, oatmeal, and daily specials. You can have different types of juices. Your coffee cups are regularly filled. Service is excellent and prompt.
Happy hour is between 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and exceeds expectations. You are offered two drinks of wine and/or beer for no cost. There is a wide assortment of beers and wines to choose from. And if you want to pay a little extra, you can order a specialized beer or wine. Tracey and Mike are wonderful hosts and stay with guests into the evening. They are both very accommodating and helpful. And sitting out on the porch allows you to meet other guests and perhaps start new friendships. There is also a sitting area on the first floor in the front of the Inn where guests congregate and chat as well.
I would highly recommend staying at the 1898 Waverly Inn when visiting Hendersonville or the surrounding beautiful mountain areas in North Carolina.

Our company has rented this B&B for our annual retreat for the least 3 or 4 years and it's always a great stay. The breakfasts are a-mazing and so are the baked goodies and the nightly cheese/wine assortment. They also keep a wide variety of K-Cup beverages and a large tea assortment for guests. The Inn is quite charming and the hosts are super friendly. We really feel at home here and have enjoyed our visits each and every year! It's also right downtown near very good restaurants, bars, and charming shops. It's highly walkable which is also a bonus.

This Historic Bed and Breakfast is ideal for all. The Innkeepers and all the staff make you feel at home and are there for any thing you need. Breakfast was delicious and social hour provides a great selection of local beer, wines and yummy assortment if cheese, crackers, meats and homemade Pimento cheese.

Wanting to come to the area for Thanksgiving. Can you please answer the following questions?
1. Will there be restaurants in the area serving Thanksgiving day meals?
2. What time is breakfast served?

Thanks for your inquiry. Breakfast at the inn is from 7:30-9am on weekdays and 7:30-9:30am on weekends. We will likely have a Thanksgiving meal here at the inn this year as we have the past three years. You can call us directly at 828.693.9193 if you'd like further information. All the best!
