Beautiful downtown B&B run by friendly locals. This is truly a family business & the small touches and quality show through. I had room 208, a double bed room overlooking the beautiful stone church across the street. There is some road noise, which is easily overcome by the TV or the fan on the ac. This is the price for the convenience of being able to easily walk to the downtown Hendersonville shopping and dining district. There is radiator heat & a quiet electric heater in addition to a gas log fireplace. The bathroom is tight, but otherwise the room is very comfortable. The bed was especially cozy. The furnishings & seasonal decorations throughout the B&B were extra special-authentic antiques & very tasteful decorations. The breakfast was buffet style & many things were individually wrapped, presumably in an effort to minimize germ spread. I enjoyed the “social hour” very much, which includes up to two adult beverages & light snacks. The house sangria was very refreshing. Free off street parking. I highly recommend this B&B.

We needed a break from all of the lockdowns and so we booked a room for the weekend. Because my wife suffers from asthma and other conditions we were very concerned with a place that would have a safe Covid compliant policy. Before we booked, we checked with the North Carolina Department of health and found the protocols associated with Covid. I cannot tell you how pleased we were when we arrived at the Charleston. It was obvious from the moment we stepped in that the place was spotless and that the proprietors took great care to comply with North Carolina’s recommendations. For example, we were told that masks were required if we could not maintain a 6 foot distance between other visitors but that was no problem as the Inn is very large and can easily provide safe spaces for visitors. Another example of their concern was evident during the wine and cheese hour where all of the great snacks were separately bagged so as to avoid any cross-contamination by other guests . Our hosts Tommy and Kathy were great and made us feel right at home. I explained my wife’s condition to them and they assured me that they would do everything necessary to accommodate her needs which they did. The breakfast was outstanding as a matter of fact we are booking another stay just to have another great breakfast. We were pleasantly surprised to see the property decorated for Christmas. It looked like something straight out of Better Homes & Gardens magazine or better yet a Norman Rockwell painting from the 1940s. Take it from concerned travelers this place is not only Covid safe it is a haven of cleanliness during these times. Do yourself a favor and book a weekend soon.

A friend of mine told me about a beautiful Inn in historic Hendersonville, North Carolina, I do not normally post reviews, I always mean to and then get busy and don’t do it. We stayed four days at this Inn and I’ve never felt more at home or like family anyplace. When we arrived we were met by the owners Tommy and Kathy who checked us in and showed us around the inn. My husband and I are both in our 80s so of course Covid is of importance to us and we felt very comfortable as this is an extremely clean place who goes to the highest levels to make sure everyone is safe and it is also quite large allowing as much distance as you choose. I was quite surprised reading a couple of the previous reviews and wondered if we even stayed at the same place. I would like to say that if this place isn’t Covid compliant then perhaps you should stay home as I don’t think a better job could be done by anyone. Thank you Tommy and Kathy and staff for an excellent stay, we will return and we hope this craziness gets over soon. I cannot end this without mentioning what a fantastic breakfast that was served, we have stayed at many inns in the past and I have never had such a gourmet breakfast👏

I wish buenvino had written her review before we booked our stay at the Charleston Inn. If I had known that masks were not worn I would have not made the reservation. We too arrived to find that not only were Kathy and Tommy, the proprietors not wearing masks but neither was the couple checking in before us. I was also told I could do whatever made me comfortable but the staff or guests were not required to wear masks. I too was offered the opportunity to leave without penalty especially if I was going to write a negative review. Since we were only staying one night we decided to stay. We were reluctant to have breakfast but since there was only 2 other couples in the large dining room we did stay and eat. The tables were set up with adequate social distancing. I was not particularly comfortable that guests served themselves beverages.

I will not be returning to the Charleston Inn even after COVID due the disregard for my safety. It is a beautiful Victorian home that was well maintained and clean, but I was disappointed by the lack of graciousness of the hostess as well as her snarky comments to the former reviewer.

Hi Jane......Again I would like to say that we follow the NC guidelines for Covid. At the time of your stay mask were required if you could not practice social distancing. We have over 15,000 sq. ft. inside the Inn so social distancing is not a problem. As of Wednesday, November 24th the guidelines have changed and mask must be worn inside all business and we are now following those NEW guidelines. The question I have for you is, If you were uncomfortable staying at the Inn, why did you stay? We offered to cancel the reservation for free with no cost or penalty to you. You chose to stay here and by choosing to stay that means you accepted our terms and arrangements. You are correct, I did say that if you were not comfortable and were going to write a negative review it would be best to cancel you reservation. You replied that you would be writing a negative review. Again, I ask you why did you choose to stay if you felt you were not safe and participated in our social activities? The only reason I can think of for you to stay, was because you wanted to write the review and hurt a business that has been greatly affected by Covid. If you care to read our other reviews you will find we are not ungracious or snarky. Stay Safe!

What more can we say. We had a wonderful stay at The Charleston Inn. Fully would advise that anyone coming to Hendersonville, North Carolina stay here at this historical Victorian home.

The furnishings were spot on and the room we had was clean, comfortable, and spacious with a lovely clawfoot tub. In the morning we had a great breakfast that was included with our stay and during the evening we were given complimentary wine which was a perfect end to our delightful days in Hendersonville.

The staff are very friendly and everyone was wearing masks when we walked in. We felt safe during our entire visit. The owners were a delight and full of information on what to do while we were in town.

If you are looking for a clean, friendly, beautiful and COVID friendly place to stay in Hendersonville this is the place. We felt at home and part of the family during our entire visit.

Booking in to this Inn for only the second time in ten years was sadly not quite as agreeable as the first.

At the height if the Covid-19 pandemic, new arrivals were already queuing with their masks on to check in when we arrived to hear the proprietress, Kathy, shouting out instructions for the free Happy Hour, breakfast hours etc. – and then adding that guests only had to wear masks if they wanted to.

She was not wearing one and neither were her husband or daughter. Our turn came to check in and I asked why she was not wearing a mask (as mandated in NC) and she said it was because she and her family had “had it” and therefore did not have to.

This is actually not the perceived medical advice, especially for those in the hospitality business.

And seeing my surprise, she added:” If you want to stay somewhere else, you can!”

We decided stay – observing our own mask protection and social distancing, as did some other guests.

On the positive side, Kathy and Tommy serve an excellent breakfast – we enjoyed Eggs Benedict with Apple Salad as well as Eggs Ranchero. And for the afternoon Happy Hour the drinks and snacks were generous. Plenty of places to sit well apart on the nice porch.

We stayed in the same room as I had done ten years previously, Room 9 on the second floor. It was the same old fashioned, no frills, bedroom as before with the quaint bathtub-shower that requires extreme caution to use. The same advice is suggested for any visit during the current pandemic situation.

Our Inn prides itself on following the directives of the state of North Carolina. In particular, careful attention was given to the mandate by the governor of the state of North Carolina which indicates that masks are to be worn as a preventative measure when social distancing is not available or appropriate. As such and because our facility is over 15,000 sq. ft., it is very easy to accommodate the directive of the governor to maintain a distance of at least 6 feet, which our staff does at all times. For example, in our social hour every snack has been individually sealed so as to prevent any cross-contamination by guests. Guests maintain an appropriate space between each other at all times with little or no difficulty. What is disturbing is that it appears you were given an opportunity to settle any apprehension you might have related to a stay by way of allowing you to leave our facility; however, you elected to stay and in particular, you elected to stay on a private vacation during a time when the governor has issued a directive to stay home if at all possible. We take great pride in the cleanliness of our property and we take great offense at misguided innuendo. We will continue to strive to provide our guest with not only a safe but an enjoyable experience; however, we understand there are always folks who would speak out of both sides of their masks.

This is my second stay at The Charleston Inn!!

My sister and I truly enjoyed an extended weekend, at this lovely B&B! The Christmas decor was so beautiful & festive- we enjoyed exploring each room to take it all in!!

Our room was very clean (as were all common areas) & the staff was genuinely friendly, helping us plan hiking expeditions, wine tastings & dinner reservations. Our included breakfast was absolutely delicious!!

We felt very safe (during this Covid season) and comfortable that our health was a priority.

I can’t wait to visit again!!!

After many years of visits to Hendersonville, we switched our accommodations from another B&B to the Charleston Inn. Our group occupied 6 rooms and found the rooms to be spacious, the bathrooms to be updated, and the hosts to be fun, friendly and accommodating. Social Hour was fun and breakfast each morning was yummy. Our group unanimously felt that the Charleston Inn was a great alternative and agreed that the planning for all future visits would start with a call to Kathy and Tommy, the owners. We didn’t know what to expect, but found Charleston Inn to be a WONDERFUL SURPRISE.

My mom and I stayed here for a mom-daughter getaway. She had stayed here once previously when it was under different ownership. We loved every bit of our stay. The innkeepers are charming and provided great local recommendations. They've included many thoughtful touches that are sometimes missing from bed & breakfasts. Speaking of breakfast, I'm still thinking about the breakfast bowl with Cajun cream that we enjoyed on our first morning. Everything was well-prepared, hardy, and delicious. This was a great place to start during COVID due to the small number of guests rooms, wide hallways/big rooms, open doors, and ceiling fans. Hope to return someday!

After having a problem with the original B & B we booked we went to the Charleston to see if they had any rooms available. The owners Tommy and Cathy were so gracious and showed us a few rooms to choose from. We chose a beautiful king room on the second floor (207). The Inn is decorated very nicely and felt homey. They offer a wine reception every day which we enjoyed. The owners even gave us a voucher for a wine tasting for a local winery, Saint Paul Mountain Vineyards which was nice. The first morning we had a continental breakfast which had a wide variety of items. The second morning we had French toast topped with ice cream, scrambled eggs and bacon which were cooked upon our arrival in the dining room. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Charleston and will definitely go back. Thanks to Tommy and Cathy for making us feel so welcome!

According to our concierge who took your booking he gave the option of a smaller room but you told him to leave it . As a king on the weekends is 179 a night which is 200.48 after taxes. That is our rate for a King bedroom and our apologies it was not an enjoyable stay for you and that you did not get a hotel tour. Our usual host Tim needed the night off and he is usually the one who does the tour also as it was a weekend stay with full booking we were stretched pretty thin. We are incredibly sorry that we didn't tell you about the fridge in the hallway is for guests however we will take into consideration the juice option. We were in fact stocking juice in there early on but it would mostly just end up taking space in the fridge so we had stopped doing that if there ever was an issue about anything with your room or pricing or wanting a tour or anything please do approach the front desk we would have loved to have made your stay better sincerest apologies.
