The Henderson offers warm hospitality in a historic downtown setting. Proprietors Michael and Jeanne Gilligan couldn't be more welcoming and are always available to make guests feel right at home.

Rooms are affordable, comfortable, and decorated much like early 20th century accommodations would have been. Harvey's restaurant, located conveniently on site, excels in fine dining options, thanks to Chef Michael's excellent training and experience. Daily breakfast, included in room cost, is a delicious start to the day.

Be sure to put The Henderson on your list of historic inns to visit when you're traveling the beautiful North Carolina mountains.

Where can one travel during a pandemic? The Henderson, of course !!. We drove 11 hrs and spent 4 nights there leaf peeping and were not disappointed. Jeanne and Michael run a tight ship and spare no expense in keeping guests safe and comfortable. Hospitals can take a cleaning lesson from them. The breakfasts were fantastic and we ended up eating most dinners at Harvey's on the veranda and went through the entire menu. Location is in the heart of town, and 30 minutes in any direction to hike, bike, boat or just explore. WE SHALL RETURN

My husband and I stayed at the Henderson for 3 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The hosts, the Gilligan’s, were gracious and met our every need. We felt the B&B was covid-safe, especially since they had this huge wraparound porch for our B&B breakfast every morning, We made reservations for dinner one night and both the service and meals were excellent. While the room felt a bit small, the bathroom was spacious and updated. We hope to return someday, and when we do, we’ll ask for a larger room. This B&B is an easy walking distance into town where you can find fun stores to shop in. It’s also a great place to stay if you want to visit some of the waterfalls in western N.C. We highly recommend this B&B!

First, this Bed & Breakfast property is located so that you can easily walk to all shops and restaurants on Main Street. Their restaurant located within this property is just wonderful and the outside seating on the wrap around porch is great, even in cold weather (they have propane heaters everywhere. The breakfast they serve is also awesome. Our room was on the 1st floor and it was everything we needed. The owners were very, very nice and accommodating. We will be back to stay here if we get back to Hendersonville. This 100 year old home/hotel was just wonderful.

We found this place at the end of 2019 and have happily stayed, on average, once per month since that time. The location is convenient to hiking trails, wineries, breweries, and Lake Lure or Asheville. When COVID hit, we missed them for a few months. When COVID restrictions were lifted and they were allowed to reopen, we were there that weekend to see how our friends in the mountains had fared. It has been different post-COVID, due to the new requirements to re-open and stay open, but what hasn't changed is the warm and welcoming greeting we get from Jeanne and Michael when we arrive and throughout our stay.
We live about 2 hours away and come to stay at The Henderson to relax and explore new locations in the area. We love the charm of the B&B. We love the owners and staff. Jeanne and Michael are great people who take a vast amount of pride in pleasing their customers. Jeanne is very knowledgeable of the local area and provides multiple options for things to try every time we come up there. Michael is always cooking delicious dinners and breakfasts and Jeanne makes the best dinner cocktails and nightcaps. I highly recommend this place for all of my friends to stay.

Great location walkable to shops and restaurants downtown. Lots of character and great service as this is owned and operated by a young family. Each room is decorated uniquely so you can have a different experience each time you visit.

Michael and Jeanne were super welcoming from the first confirmation email though our entire visit. After a long drive from Florida, we arranged to have a bottle of wine and their charcuterie plate waiting for us in our room. We had no expectations, choosing a hotel because it was 5 min away from family.

Raise your expectations! The room was adorable, and the bed was extremely comfortable, the wine was deeeeelicious, as was the platter. Breakfast felt super pandemic-safe on the outdoor porch, with lots of heaters keeping the chill away and yummy pancakes my sweetie is still taking about a few hours later.

They have a great sense of low-key humor with the film-based hallway decor. And they’re super accommodating.

The restaurant at the Henderson (Harvey's) is one of our favorites so to celebrate a special occasion I decided to book a room along with Saturday dinner and Sunday Brunch reservations. The hotel is cute as a button and we were very comfortable. Michael and Jeanne run the property and restaurant in a uniquely personal manner with attention to the right details.

We live fairly close so we do not need to stay in Hendersonville, but experiencing the town, Harvey's and The Henderson for a staycation allowed us to take everything in much the same way we would when touring a new vacation spot. We don't often do that in the cities we live and I highly recommend it. We will certainly do it again in the future.

Love old historic B&B's with friendly innkeepers/ owners. Excellent breakfast to boot. This building has lots of character to it and you have to appreciate that. We took a 3rd floor room that was large with little entryway and bath and bedroom separate though within the room. With me being an early riser i can get ready without disturbing my wife. Our room did not have a shower but a big whirlpool tub with a handheld also so not a normal shower setup but worked for us. Right in downtown Hendersonville and would stay there next time we visit.

Location was great and the reason for the 3rd star. Female ‘staff’ member, maybe the innkeeper, no introduction, was friendly. Breakfast was mediocre. I am admittedly a picky eater but even my husband, who eats everything, couldn’t eat the turkey bacon. The building was cool with nice character though a bit worse for the wear. The primary reason that I gave it the 2 stars was that it really needs to have higher end linens to include bedding, window coverings and bathroom accessories. Less of the bargain decor would allow one to see the cuteness of the space. By the way… I am a thrift store shopper so I don’t have expectations of high end home decor. The Inn has so much potential. Good Luck❣️

Thank you for your feedback. We are so happy that you enjoyed our location but were surprised that you were unsatisfied with breakfast which we pride ourselves on. From your reservation we saw that you didn't eat pork or beef, so we picked up some organic uncured local turkey bacon from butcher which I see you didn't like. We hope you did enjoy the omelets, waffles, fresh fruit, smoothies and homemade muffins. Our bed lines are of the highest quality and our Inn reflects the quirkiness of the owners and various items are picked up on their travels, and we are sorry this did not suite your taste.

Yes, they accept children. Not sure about walking distance to breweries, but downtown is walking distance and they have nice restaurants. Harvey’s will have beer and wonderful specialty drinks. You will love staying here.

Hi. I am not the manager but I have stayed here a few times. I doubt that they are pet friendly due to the beautiful antique furnishings. There is a good deal of potpourri that bothers some people with allergies. I'm sure Joe & Stephanie would be happy to answer your questions.
