From the moment I rang to the end of our stay John and Amanda made us feel like part of the family! The rooms are in the process of being renovated so we given the gorgeous penthouse overlooking the estuary! What a sight to wake up to! It was so peaceful and quiet it was hard to believe we were staying close to shops and restaurants. The rooms were beautifully decorated, lovely open plan living and super comfy beds. We would recommend this place for sure! Prices very reasonable considering prices charged elsewhere in town!
Room was a bit cosy with a queen and a single in a fairly small space. However, was well equipped and the pool area is excellent. A bit pricey but considering it was Whitianga between Xmas and New Year that was to be expected.
Our host were super friendly, rooms were very clean and tidy. Motel back onto an estuary with stunning views of the harbour, have great facilities, pool and is well equipped with kayaks which my family use everyday. Would highly recommend to any family looking for a relaxing break.
Lovely motel, close to town. The rooms are beautifully decorated, excetionally clean with good quality beeding and towels provided. The kitchen is well equipped with good utensils and modern appliances. Everything you need. Lovely helpful staff
Retro style motel - with modern rooms and a warm homely feel. Wonderful waterfront aspect on the estuary. The swimming pool and bbq area makes you feel as if you are in your own home. The owners are friendly and couldn't be more obliging. Shearwater is within an easy walk of Whitianga township and the beach and we recommend a visit to the Mercury Bay Club to meet the very friendly locals.
Great location, only a short walk to the main town centre. Greeted by Dick who was friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean and comfortable in this small and friendly establishment. Maybe a little dated and in the height of summer would imagine the rooms would get rather hot as no air conditioning.
We stayed at Shearwater for the Scallop Festival. The greeting we received was very warm and friendly and welcoming. The accommodation is traditional but presented beautifully and spotlessly clean. Excellent size unit and well located for a short walk to the township. Parking right in front of the unit makes life very easy. We've stayed in Whitianga before and this would be the number one pick for us.
Very comfortable modernized rooms in a retro motel, with a wonderful waterfront position to enjoy the heated pool, kayaks, fishing from the jetty and drinks by the estuary. Friendly attentive managers with good knowledge and tips for enjoying this beautiful part of the world. Love the pillows, sheets and best bed!
Nice old fashioned motel, very clean and friendly with a comfortable bed. The large bed means there is only one bedside table. The large fan is efficient but noisy. The location is very central and our room was very quiet.
I was here for only one night during a road trip with my dad. The staff was extremely helpful and the room was bigger than expected, for an extremely honest price. They lent us a shovel for the hot water beach what was a nice touch.
