My wife and I were traveling in the Coromandel Peninsula a few hours outside of Auckland, New Zealand. The is are three guest rooms in a house separate from the main house, each sleeping 3 people, and a cottage that sleeps more. The place was built by the owners Paul and Chris, and shows their personal attention to detail. Each...

We arrived just after noon which is way too early for check in and just wanted to ask about restaurants for lunch. Chris and Paul met us at the door and were very cordial about our early arrival. Chris showed us our suite and said it was ready to go so, we moved in. We were in theVictorian suite with...

We had a spacious room with a spare bed upstairs with all mod cons including fresh milk in the fridge and cake each afternoon. The breakfasts are brought to your room and they are excellent with plenty of choice. The croissants are better than many in France. It is a quiet setting despite being on the road to the Whitianga...

The Mussel Bed is a peaceful place to stay. It's in a lovely area and a short walk to Cooks Beach which is unspoilt. The Bay here has clear water for swimming and lovely soft sand. Chris and Paul were very warm and welcoming hosts. We stayed in a room with a veranda, where we sat to eat the excellent...

Great location for walking and relaxing. Cooks Beach itself is unspoilt and very quiet with golden soft sand and good swimming. The place is quiet with a little road noise from passing local traffic. This did not spoil it for us and the veranda overlooking gardens was lovely, the hosts were friendly, breakfast is generous and served in your room...

The Mussel Bay B&B is near Cathedral Cove and Hot Water Beach. We had a nice and clean room with view into the garden just next to Chris and Paul‘s house, our hosts. Paul even brought us a lovley breakfast to the room. It had a comfortable double bed, a new bathroom and toilets, was nicely decorated, had an electric...

What a great start to our month in New Zealand. Chrissie and Paul gave us inside information for our local and excursion trips that made our journey that much more memorable. Loved the whole area, the house and the garden, construction discussions with Paul, cake recipe from Chris, we slept great... sigh, We had a wonderful experience and hope to...

My husband and I stayed at the cottage for 3 nights after a busy 6 days in Auckland. It was the perfect place to recharge for the rest of our month in New Zealand. Chris and Paul generously stocked the cottage with breakfast makings (including fresh eggs and bacon to cook and wonderful breads and treats!) Although quirky, the cottage...

We thoroughly enjoyed staying at Mussel Bed and would recommend it to anyone. However, we were expecting a sea view and perhaps a glimpse of the mussel beds but there was none as the rooms are located in the owner's extensive garden. The accommodation was very comfortable and charming. Breakfast delivered by Paul was a treat every day - as...
