The boutique beachfront accommodation is really located just on the beachfront. There is only a street between the beach and the guesthouse. During the day there is some traffic at night none. The room we had in the basement was freshly renovated. Not big with a very small kitchen but sufficient. The terrasse is big enough for all guests and there is a guest bbq that we used several times. So everything was fine except the free wifi. Sometimes the accommodation was free of wifi and when there was some, it was really slow.

The review is only a four star because of the room size.
The room itself was lovely, comfy bed , nice modern decor, along with the bathroom. Kitchen more dated but not enough to make it feel out of place.

Great location with a fantastic view. The road outside was very quiet after about 8 and until roughly 8 the following morning.

All in all a nice stay and a shout out to Kelly for being a gracious host.

My wife and I are on a 2 week make it up as you go roadtrip. We booking.comed available places then did drive bys like the 50+ year old gangsters we arent, but a great way to compare places from the outside, we settled on Nana Glads because of our perception of price for location. And what a great choice for us !!!. The room does everything we want, very clean, tidy, 2 beers in the fridge, 2 better than hotel milk bottles, tea and coffee selection, a stocked utilities kitchen pantry, access to a commercial BBQ, firm bed, airconditioning (farenheight reading which I cant even spell so had no idea what the temp was bit it worked a treat !!!), a great location, so great we drove to the laundromat and when my wife forgot the powder, we walked back to get it !!!!. Bars and restaurants in abundance half a beer a way (my measuring stick) but absolutely times infinity plus one, the heart of this place is the view. That damn unforgettable, memory inducing view. Christy, the onsite staff is as much as you need, a bubbly, happy girl. And Roly who was prompt and responsive. This is Kauri Cliffs for commoners. O for awesome team Nana Glads. Kia haerere haurora, travel well. Raymond and Ning

Booked a room for my brother for 3 nights Through Booking .com and paid in full. All no problem. The booking was for my brother and wife and there 9 month year old grandson. I rang a couple of days before there arrival just to confirm, we were staying next door at another Motel for 12 days. I was very rudely told no they can't stay here we don't let kids stay here. and that your booking is not my problem go to who you made the booking with to try and get a refund. no where did it mention no kid policy and we took note while we were staying next door that there were children and babies staying there . More the fact is the way this horrible man spoke to me. It was the only place in Whitianga with vacancy's over Christmas too which tells you a lot how bad they are . In the end with help from other Motels found 4 night available just around the corner who had just had a cancelation. We say in Whitianga 2 or 3 times a year and can assure you I would never stay at Nana Glads after that experience and after watching this horrible person from next door. I highly recommend The Anchorage and Motel 6 in Whitinga

Terrible stay. Bad smell in the room and balcony that affected our breathing. Beds are not comfartable. So we could not sleep properly. The room is very small. Service is bad as manager / owner is not onsite and is unreachable. Only view is beautiful. Too bad as Whitianga is an amazing placel !

Nana Glads was a gorgeous little find. We enjoyed the views the comfort of bed and our own contained little apartment. We will definitely be back. Easy location to walk to restaurants nearby. Worth paying the extra. Thank you Rowly

Fortunately when we arrived in Whitianga, this accommodation was available, and we are glad :) The owner is lovely :) (I'm sorry I have forgotten your name!) Very friendly and helpful :) The rooms are set up very nicely and have all that you need :) You can go for a short stroll for food :) The view is beautiful :) Great value for money :) We will probably stay there again :) What you get for the price you pay, I don't think you can beat that in this area. Plus the view! :) No, you cannot beat it. Just stay here :) Thank you very much to the owner :) :)

A couple of days before my trip to Whitianga I decided the accommodation I had booked wasn't suitable therefore was desperate for a replacement. I just happened on Nana Glads by chance and I'm so very glad I did! It was perfect in every way; price, location, facilities and the view. The view is to absolutely die for! I must have been so very lucky to get a room at the last minute. Jane, the manager, went out of her way to make sure I and the other guests were comfortable. There was only one small hiccup (the hot water was temporarily off one morning) and Jane resolved it as soon as she was informed. Simply perfect; I will definitely be back.

2 days, $300+ per day, over priced for a drab, poorly finished unit with mis-matched furniture. No sea views or sunlight.

Sadly the building is tired and dated, lacking any style or finesse to the interior or exterior. [Poor] Renovations of our room had been undertaken some time recently however it's been undertaken cheaply with no attention to detail (the painting was so bad it looked like a child had done it, there were carpet "tiles" on the floor!), a home handyman when even a little pride could would have achieved a better result.

On night 1 we had an ant invasion in the kitchen, the sistema container with powered coffee in it was just one hard lump of instant coffee, there was SB adhesive stuck on the kitchen bench where it had been glued together, the TV didn't work, the microwave was kept level with a coaster! Again for "boutique accommodation" this was certainly below average.

For the price, it was super disappointing to see things like "Palmolive Pump Soap" dispensers in the bathroom, there were no toiletries provided (except small cakes of bar soap found in 1970 motels), there wasn't any dish washing liquid provided for the kitchenette, the pull-out sofa was not comfortable.

This was all we could find as a two bedroom (one bedroom + pull-out sofa) at very short notice for a business trip. I am surprised by the other reviews as, for the price, the Stanford Plaza in Auckland offers more for less! I have stayed in camping ground cabins better appointed, with nicer decor and better value than this "boutique accommodation"

Will not stay here again.

What a great place to stay. Me and my fiancee enjoyed our stay. The location is perfect, and the views are gorgeous. I would definitely stay here again. The hosts/staff provided great tips and advice on things to do.
