Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Me and my partner had a great experience at the Admiral Lodge. Really relaxing, the room is perfect, really spacious and the spa bath is the cherry on the cake!! Lovely breakfast. The service as well was really good and the owner really welcoming. So if you are looking for nice relaxing accommodation this is the place. I will come back if I come back to Whitianga.

After a long and frustrating search of the internet for somewhere decent to stay in the Hot Water Beach, Ha Hei, Cooks Beach region we decided that the Admiralty Lodge offered the best accommodation choice and, in spite of it being a little pricey - well NZ is pricey these days - it was excellent. The room was very large, almost looked like it was once a studio apartment and you could easily spend a week here and not feel cramped. The pool (it might even have been heated) was right out front and a decent size, most definitely worth a dip. The beach is across the road and easily viewable from the upstairs apartments. Reading the paper on the balcony with the sun coming up / going down was an excellent way to start or end the day. As is fish and chips from downtown Whitianga.

The admirality is in a perfect location, within walking distance to town and right across the road from the beach. Also walking distance to the Lost Springs Spa. The lodge was very clean and tidy with great service. It had a fantastic spa bath, perfect after day of sightseeing. We felt very relaxed being there, a great place to unwind. I would highly recommend the Admirality, it had all the amenities we needed, it was clean and tidy, amazing views, in a good location, couldn't have asked for anything more really. Our host and his little dog were lovely!!

After you've stayed at enough motels & smaller facilities, you sort of come to expect mediocrity. But now that I've stayed at the Admiralty Lodge, I think the bar has really been raised. The location makes it a great launching pad to explore the Coromandel area, go on hikes, fishing trips, and take in all the beautiful scenery. It was breathtaking. But I really found myself looking forward to getting back to the comfortable room at the end of each day. I slept better there than I do at home! It sort of had the personalized, cozy warmth you might find at a bed & breakfast, but with the style & professionalism of a larger hotel or resort. Good sized room. Incredible view. Private balcony. Kitchen stocked with plates, cups, utensils, etc. Overall I had a great experience and

I recently spent four days visiting New Zealand for the first time and stayed at the Admiralty Lodge in Whitianga. I spend a lot of time traveling and would have to say this was one of the best travel experiences I've had to date as the accomodations and service were wonderful. The room was large and comfortable, the views of the bay were amazing, and staff and owner went out of their way to make it a truly enjoyable experience. Highly recommended!!

I took my wife to The Admiralty Lodge which provided one of the best holiday destinations to date. Even though it is situated in a small town the service and experience was larger than life. The room was very clean and comfortable with an outstanding view. The service as very friendly and helpful and the manager was first rate with amazing customer service skills and is a true asset to the company. A+ Experience. Joel

I spent a weekend at this fine establishment a few weeks ago and it was the perfect tonic for a busy and stressful time. Not only were the rooms top-notch, but the service and attention to detail were fantastic. The unobstructed views out to the ocean were a particular highlight for me. Ambuj was a great host and was able to offer not only great conversation, but ideas for how to spend the days in this beautiful part of New Zealand. If you're looking for a first-class experience at a very reasonable price, then you will not be disappointed by your stay here. I don't usually write these reviews, however, this experience was so far above anything else I've had that I felt I simply had to! Can't wait for my next trip up to Whitianga :)

I stayed a day in July and was impressed with the general appearance of the premises, the swimming pools and well appointed, warm and comfortable rooms. Booking-in was quick and efficient, and the welcome plate was appreciated. Also, a well priced and hearty breakfast was delivered on time.

Spacious, air conditioning, neat and tidy, peaceful, well located, children friendly and great hosts best describes this lodge. The heated pool was a great attraction for our grand children. It took the winter out of the fun equation. In fact the heated pool transformed winter into summer for us. If we visit Whitianga we will definitely stay at the Admiralty. We highly recommend this accommodation. Also the rates are reasonable.
