After searching online through many motels in Whitianga, we were very pleased with our choice. The staff were friendly and helpful, the room was HUGE, comfortable and had an amazing view! The walk into town was easy and we went often completed it along the beach. Loved the eco touches e.g. large bottles of shampoo etc instead of the wasteful small ones. great pool for an evening swim. Will definitely return.

We traveled to Whitianga for one night to go to the Lost Spring Spa. Our room was on the second floor and had an uninterrupted view of the main beach from our balcony. The room was very big, including a King Size bed and lovely lounge suite.
The bathroom was large and had a spa batch (didn't get to use it ) and kitchenette had everything you'd need.
The service was excellent, greeted by the friendly host and was more than happy to recommend local eateries for us. We're already planning our next stay in Whitianga and based on our experience the Admiralty is top of our accommodation list

We were warmly welcomed by the new managers. Our room was on the ground floor and had a great view out to sea with spectacular sunrises. The apartment was very clean. The spa bath was amazing and the shower supplies were delightful.
The managers were very professional and went the extra mile to make our stay very enjoyable and memorable. Definitely recommend for a relaxing break.

We have been to the Admiralty Lodge a number of times over several years and we were left rather disappointed this time around. What use the be a very pleasant must-stay motel (as reviewed by us in the past), now leaves us with a big question on whether it is worth the price and hassle. The biggest draw-card has always been the heated pool, but the lack of a cover overnight, meant that the water temperature was fairly cold during the day. The cover appeared to have sustained some damage, but I believe covering it with what you have, would have made a difference.
As for the rooms, furniture items both outdoor and indoor need replacing as they are either broken or on the verge of breaking.
Servicing was shocking to say the very least. Consumables were near empty when we checked in and not replenished for the majority of our stay. Even when service was eventually provided, not everything got replenished.
The gardens are also deteriorating. We've noticed some plastic bags and the likes in the garden beds that were never removed and there were at least 4 dead nighttime garden lights that were not replaced. (Both are easy fixes that a quality establishment will attend to immediately!)
I am very sad that this place is going down hill and that 4th star on the Qualmark sign is likely to disappear as the 5th one did.
To management, please get things together again, we would love to return!

A great hotel for accommodation which was ruined by poor communication. Room not Ready by 2:30, no milk provided for tea, said two days Inc at hot springs which turned out to be one, so much more expensive to book through the hotel than through a third party. Clean rooms and comfy bed but I detest being ripped off. No amount of friendliness makes up for thinking a weekend is going to cost you a certain amount but costs you much more. Get all deals in writing if you book with admirality lodge and always book through trivago not directly, booking through a third party, unbelievably, is cheaper!

This motel has come under new management recently which does not seem to know how to maximise the attraction and efficiency of what is undoubtedly a potentially very good establishment. Room sizes are most generous, and the efficient A/C is a huge bonus. My structural complaint is that there is insufficient sound proofing between floors so we were left in no doubt about the daily routines of the guests immediately above us! Daily control of staff seems to be lacking and defect reports are rather shrugged off by the new owner who seems to sit in the office all day doing who knows what. Twice we had to assist couples who arrived after the front office closed at 6 pm and the owner/manager failed to respond to telephone calls made as instructed on the office door. The new team must understand that it is in a service industry!! There is no consistency in the cleaning and checking of rooms so one room may not have trash removed while another ran out of toilet rolls. It is screaming out for proper quality control. I just hope that the new manager will learn lessons and respond to ensure that this great asset does not just fade away into service decay. However and currently, having compared this motel with many others along the esplanade this is the one to choose even though it is a good 20 minute walk into town for restaurants. Phil and Michelle run a friendly and swift taxi service, WHITI CITY Cabs for $10 a trip. Well worth it for the moment but will it survive?!

Nice outlook from first floor with pool. albeit heating system was broken. Management appears to have little interest in presentation or customer concerns. The unit was dirty and obviously had not had a full clean for months. Long black hairs on floor from past guests, dirty toilet, bird poo on front windows, grime on window ledges and floor corners, Also broken light switch to bathroom, broken kitchen cupboards, kitchen extractor failed during stay, missing lamp to floor lamp etc. Just overall dirty, not fit for guests and not to standard, particularly during a pandemic. Motel appears to being run from cellphone in Auckland with local paid staff not able to action our concerns.

This was the final stop on our trip around the North Island before heading back to Auckland and home. We were on the ground floor in a good sized room which was beginning to show some wear and tear, but was clean and comfortable. The friendly receptionist provided a jug of fresh milk when we checked in. It was easy to explore the eastern side of the Coramandel from here. We went up to Mataranghi Bay, drove around to Hot Water Beach then walked to Cathedral Cove on one day. The second day we just strolled around Whitianga.

Agree with other recent reviews. Great sea view, large toom, good for self-catering. Comfortable bed and good show. But that is it. It is run down and not particularly clean. The lack of reception and remote check in that does not want to be bothered is a problem. The noisey cookerhood and bathroom fan came on by themselves at 5:50 and stayed on until 21.55. There was no way of switching them off. Even the fuse box dis not stop them. And there was nobody to talk to about this. Room full of threatening messages about what you could not do. No soap and no plugs. First floor no lift - problem for suitcases . We moved out and found much better near by.

We had a studio unit which was really spacious, with a small kitchen etc and a balcony overlooking the pool and opposite the beach. We checked in and out with ease and had a really comfortable stay, the bed was so comfy and linen was nice. Not sure why there was so many lights on the ceiling? We would defiantly return.
