Detailed Reviews
We staying here for 2 nights on our short holiday trip and I will give an honest review of our experience
Location: very handy and a short drive to the city, beaches and restaurants
Room: very clean and tidy with large bathroom, however we experienced having rat above our bed scratching and making noise all of our first night which make us stay awake most of the night and the hall way have kids running around at 7 in the morning which added to our tiredness. The room have AC that’s works really well and keep us comfortable.
We told the reception team about our experience of rat and they are very apologetic and action it on the next morning by going up the ceiling and try their best to eliminate the rats but unfortunately they still there on our second night. It is unfortunate that we experience that but PLEASE DO NOT let our experience stop you from staying here as the room itself isn’t that bad and we talk to other people around us they couldn’t hear the scratch noise as it was just above our room only.
If it wasn’t the rats issue I would be more than happy to give this place a 5 stars rating for sure.

Had a nights stay here was wonderful. Spotless room, bed was amazingly comfortable, kitchen had an oven, of which we could cook a full roast dinner. The lovely manager and his family on site were a delight. It was a bit of a walk into the town at night, but definately do able. Would love to stay again soon.

Good 3 night stay on the outskirts of Whitianga - not really within walking distance of Whitianga shops but you can walk to Buffalo Beach if you want to. Had all the basic necessities in the room (fridge and tea making), comfortable bed, decent bathroom and shower and then a communal kitchen/lounge. We just borrowed bowls from the kitchen each morning then had our cereal in our room. Nice deck to sit on in the late afternoon though we kept tripping over the step walking back into the room as it’s the same colour as the deck and only a few centimetres higher. Really friendly and welcoming owner who lives on site with his nice family. Thanks! :-)

We came to stay at Aotearoa Lodge for the whitianga festival and had a great stay here, it was very clean, the beds were comfy and linen was very nice. To top it all off the service was honestly the best I have ever had, the gentleman who hosted us was so nice and seemed very passionate about his job. The room we had was so big and had a massive deck. Such good value for money will stay here again and will be recommending to all friends and family. Would suit family’s well as there is lots of room for the kids to play outside.

Nice motel located outside the center; We got a very spacious apartment, large kitchen, large room with sitting and dining area. The apartment is fully equipped. Spacious terrace at the front of the apartment and we also had a screened garden. Friendly manager and very caring. Everything is very neat and clean.
We had breakfast in the center (which was also the advice of the manager). You have to go to the center by car (about 3 km). Whitianga has a pleasant center with many dining options and shops and very beautiful surroundings.
We stayed here for 2 nights.

Lovely welcome and shown to our room. Room clean and tidy. Large room and bathroom. We did have ants in the room on the surface near to a he mirror. This property is outside of the town and you do need transport unless you have the time and energy for a long walk. There is a communal lounge and communal outside areas. Unfortunately the electric went down on the morning of departure; no fault of the hotel. Breakfast was not as it should have been because of the lack of electricity. Cereal, fruit etc. Did manage to get a coffee though.

This accommodation is run by a lovely young couple, is kept spotlessly clean and has pleasant rooms with very comfortable beds. Some of the rooms only have tea and coffee making facilities and a fridge, but there is a communal kitchen for anyone who wants to make a meal. There are two nice grocery stores a short drive away. For those with breakfast included in their rate, the continental breakfast is quite decent. WiFi is good and each room is given a voucher for 1 GB. The motel is a short drive out of town so may not suit people who want to be within walking distance of restaurants, but for us, because we used Whitianga mostly as a base for exploring the Coromandel, it was perfect.
