Stunning coastal views, most comfy bed ever, great breakfast and a warm and welcoming atmosphere.Close to a lovely bush walk and a short drive to lovely beaches. Excellent bbq facilities and ootions to self cater. We had aroom with great views. Highly recommend!
This B&B place is unique - you overlook the Pacific coast in the Coromandel area and think you are no longer of this world. And the landlady's hospitality and friendliness is as wonderful as the place itself.
We had a 2 night stay here in the (Kaiwanga Room)and I think it has been the best place we have stayed during our holiday. It’s an idilic little spot on a hill, overlooking the ocean. We could have spent all the day just looking at the ever changing Ocean view. The room was very clean and fresh and led straight on to a fab little deck (overlooking a well kept garden)on which we enjoyed several glasses of wine! There were self catering and dining facilities inside and out, and the gorgeous restaurant Luke’s Kitchen, which was so busy we had a takeout from the campsite and ate on our deck overlooking the view. The breakfast was fantastic with fresh fruit from the garden (plums and mountain paw paw). Our products were local and/or environmentally friendly. Host was fantastic too.…
We had been recommended Kaeppeli’s by two lots of friends and we were not disappointed. Our separate bungalow with two bedrooms, simply but comfortably furnished with all amenities even a hairdryer, and a fabulous terrace had wonderful views and some friendly goats to eat our organic kitchen waste! The plums were in season and it was fantastic to pluck a couple off the tree returning home, and to eat them stewed for breakfast as part of the spread Jill provides each morning in the gazebo also with fabulous views. A great bonus to be on the round walk of the surrounding areas through the kauri forests and the views over the bays. Sadly two nights was all too short, one should really chill out and unwind in this magical place and explore the area more. Or simply sit and read!
Excellent place overlooking the ocean located on the most beautiful stretch of coast in the Coromandel. Wonderful hospitality provided by Jill, with super breakfast daily. Great beaches and walks nearby.
This was by far my favorite stop on our recent trip. Our room, terrace, and bath were superb, and our wonderful hostess gave us great tips on local beaches, drives, restaurants, and activities. Morning breakfast in the gazebo, with its sweeping views, was by far the highlight of our stay, with wonderful food, terrific conversation, and did I mention the views? We will surely return and for much, much longer next time.
We were a party of six (seven for one night) who filled all the rooms at Kaeppeli's, and had a fabulous stay. Jill was a perfect host--easy going, helpful, and unobtrusive. The individual rooms were very pleasant, including comfortable beds, individual patios or decks with beautiful views, and nicely furnished. Common spaces are amazing, especially the gazebo where Jill served us the perfect breakfast every day, our favorite in 5 weeks of visiting around New Zealand. The setting is beautiful, as are nearby beaches, and there is even a walking track right from the property with beautiful views. We highly recommend Kaeppeli's!
We stayed at Kaepellis bad and breakfast for three nights. It is a superb location with magnificent views of the Coramandel coastline. The night stars are breathtaking. Jill is a delightful host and we enjoyed beautiful breakfasts in her summer house with magnificent sea views. This is a really special place
Following instructions provided by the very helpful Whitianga Information Office, we made our way to this beautiful retreat up a bumpy gravel track higher and higher up the hill to the accommodation/office/owner’s home. The views are spectacular. It is a quiet spot, with birds, a dog who prefers women, and in surrounding paddocks donkeys and horses. Although it’s advertised as a bed and breakfast, if the owner is advised before hand she may be able to arrange dinner. Wines were on sale from the office. Rooms were much larger than a usual b&b. It’s more like a motel with a heart. The breakfast included in the room price was a really “homemade” variety with toast, jams, home produced eggs, bacon and tea or coffee. Plus an offer of seconds if still hungry!!! Breakfast was taken in a small observatory/ up from the rooms. We met all the other guests over breakfast. An interesting mix of people and the owner introduced everyone to each other, and joined us around the one table. We thought it was a great stay.…
We stayed with Jill for four nights immediately after landing in Auckland to ‘cure’ our jetlag and settle in with our 9-month-old. This turned out to be a lucky choice. The bnb is spectacularly set on a bucolic hill overlooking the bay in a part of the Coromandel that is more reminiscent of NZ before big tourism hit. Rooms are spacious and well kept with lots of small comforts. One of our now top 10 beaches of all times is just a few minutes drive away, as is a cool surf cafe with world-class pizza and mussels (not to mention Jill’s own culinary skills). The usual Coromandel attractions like Hot Water Beach and Cathedral Cove, failed a bit to impress after this blissful backwater we largely had for ourselves with a few surfers and locals. A lucky find and we extended an extra night. …
