Detailed Reviews
After talking about it a few years, we finally went to Trout Run Camp Resort. It was about 1 hour 45 minutes for us from the Buffalo, NY area. The roads weren't too isolated if there should be a need to stop.
We stayed in one of the new for this year cabins. Very clean. They supply a stove, microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker, toaster, some dishes, utensils and pots and pans. There's a full bath, queen size bed, bunk beds and a couple mattresses up in the loft area. There also was a futon, kitchen table and a Roku ready tv. Picnic table and fire ring too.
Everyone we encountered, from staff to other campers, were so friendly. Great place for kids and dogs. Very dog friendly. We were some of the only people who didn't have kids or dogs with us.
There also was a local band that played there Saturday, Zoar. They were great too!
I don't know if it's COVID related or not but my only real complaint would be lack of activities. There were no hayrides, crafts, bingo, etc. that you tend to expect at a campground.
Something I'd suggest would be to add an air conditioner unit in the back bedroom. It never quite cooled down for comfortable sleeping even with the fans on but it was tolerable.
Camp store is small. There is a snack bar with a good variety on the menu. We did end up with an undercooked cheeseburger but they were nice and gave us our money back.
Thanks for a nice weekend!

Our family has camped for years and this campground has it all. The owners are always around and doing their best to run a well organized campground. The pool is heated and is amazing in the spring and fall when its cooler out. The sites are well maintained and not too close to each other. Have been going here for years and will continue to. Thank you for giving our family a variety of activities and a fun adventure. We hope to tube next year if the weather cooperates.

We rented a cabin. It was very clean as was the campgrounds. the staff is friendly. my only criticism I have is 1) the activity schedule is only printed and put at the front desk and 2) there are no announcements as to when activities are 3) there were a bunch of campers and the music they we playing at 10pm was not only inappropriate but also VERY loud. Someone did ask them to turn it down and they did but waited about 15 min and turned it back up.4) also there was an Amish baker by the front gate had I known I would have gone up earlier and bought some extra things.
or maybe have a text message opt in or something so campers know when things are going on.

My wife and I along with another couple camped at Trout Run RV Resort July 25,26 and 27, 2021. I'll start by saying that our ages are 58-61 and we are well respected in our community and we all have been RVing for many years. Nothing like what I'm about to convey has ever happened to any of us. This campground is clean and maintained well with ample room between sites. The rest rooms and showers are clean as well. Now for the bad part. I left a review on campgroundreviews.com and the campground owner manages the page and promptly took our review down as it was not favorable. Upon our arrival there was another camper leaving and he yelled out to us that he left campfire wood behind and we were welcome to it. We thanked him and proceeded to our site to set up. The campground offers a driving range so after setting up, we went over to check it out. There were golf balls and clubs available for us to use so we hit about a dozen balls before the owner came to us on a mower screaming STOP STOP STOP! When he got to us, he was angry and said we just caused him an extra two hours of work. We said we weren't aware that the range was closed for mowing as he had no sign up or any other indicators. He said the machine he uses to collect the golf balls was parked in front of two of the six tee boxes and I guess we were supposed to know that meant the range was closed. We apologized but he kept on his rant and continued being bent out of shape. So we left and went back to our site. A short time later, the owner came over to our site and apologized for his behavior and said he was having trouble with his employees earlier. I guess that was justification in his mind to yell at us. A few hours later, we decided to go get the leftover campfire wood that had been offered to us earlier. The owner drove over and started yelling at us again saying he sometimes delivers firewood to campers coming in and not to take any more. We knew he wasn't being honest because we knew it belonged to the previous camper who offered it to us so we asked him if he had done that for the people coming to that site and he said he didn't know, he would have to check. He had to check to see if he delivered wood earlier to a site at a campground that was nearly empty? Then we were told by another family that they had booked a cabin and it was entered in by an employee for a wrong year so they offered them the use of the owners son's midsize travel trailer but didn't offer any monetary refund. A family of 6 in a privately owned travel trailer instead of the $179/night cabin they paid for to spend a week in when it was the campgrounds fault? I don't know if the owner is just a jerk or has a mental illness like being bi-polar so I don't want to bad mouth him too much but how he treated us was uncalled for and unprofessional. Needless to say, we won't go back there.
As a side note, I posted this review on campgroundreviews.com and it was removed as apparently, the campground owner manages his page there and won't allow a negative review. I hope that doesn't happen here as well because readers rely on reviews both good and bad when deciding on which campgrounds and resorts to stay at.

Response from Kevin Clark, Owner at Trout Run Camp Resort
Responded 5 Sept 2023
Oh, dear! It sounds like you had quite the adventure at Trout Run Camp Resort! Who would've thought a peaceful camping trip could turn into such a wild ride? It seems like the owner was having quite the "mow-tion" when you accidentally interrupted his golf ball collecting spree. And then mistaking firewood ownership? That's more twists and turns than a corn maze! But hey, at least he apologized for his behavior, even if it came with a side of questionable justification. And let's not forget the family who ended up in the wrong-year cabin-turned-travel trailer, talk about a camping mix-up! Well, as they say, sometimes the craziest experiences make for the best campfire stories. At least you won't be forgetting your time at Trout Run Camp Resort anytime soon! If you ever decide to brave the unknown again, just remember to bring a sign language dictionary for all those non-verbal cues. Happy camping, and hopefully, your next adventure will be smoother than mowed grass! 😄🏕️

This place is a joke. They charged my handicapped brother $10 just to have lunch with us. He pleaded that he is on a fixed income and could not afford this fee because it would come out of his grocery money. The snoody young girl working there said it was out of her control. I wanted to rent a golf cart but they said it was $81.00 for the day. Who can afford that much money? I spoke with a lot of very unhappy campers at this camp site. The owners are very Greedy People who don't deserve to have a business. I would NOT recommend this place to my worst enemies. There are other "Honest" campsites within New York State that you will be much more happier with.

I’m sorry you are unhappy with our policies. A $10 visitor fee is not uncommon at most campgrounds. The moment a guest enters our property, we are both responsible, and liable, for their well being and safety. Additionally it is unfair to paying guests to have unfettered access to visitors for free. As far as the golf cart fee, we are less than most of our competitors. With regards to many u happy campers, that is simply untrue. We offer a tremendous amount of amenities for less than most.

We stayed for the first time last weekend and Trout Run blew us away..we booked literally the last site available for that weekend so I was nervous it wouldn't be good ...our site was BEYOND gorgeous and I booked the same one for next year already...every morning I drank my coffee while watching the horses in the pasture . The campsite was beautifully maintained , clean and full of friendly..kind campers. The pool was clean and gorgeous . The laundry mat was clean and useful for drying towels and suits!! The store was awesome ..kids loved getting ice cream, the staff was wonderful and we even ordered a pizza one day . Dogs loved running around in the dog park!
Can't wait to return next year ..see you for the Fourth of July 🇺🇲

Terrific family camp resort. Best spots are on the perimeter near the horse pasture. The heated pool was delightful. The trailer sites have a concrete pad and grass. Bathrooms were very clean. Camp store even had aloe Vera to treat kids sunburns!

We spend our afternoons playing volleyball w the kids and relaxing! The family environmemt is priceless! We truly love this campground! The stocked pond is great. We will be back next year!!

We had 4 motorhomes there for the Labor Day Weekend. With Covid -19 going on the campground did a great job, with mask wearing in the office and social distancing. The pool was open and not over crowded. We will be back as the staff was friendly and courteous
