we really enjoyed our stay at Dhow Palace! the hotel is great, rooms are perfect and the roof terrace is lovely& a perfect spot for dinner. What we enjoyed most is the quality of service! all staff were absolutely lovely& welcoming! this is true hospitality - i mean who doesnt want to be greeted with 'welcome home' every time they come back to reception. anything you asked for was 'hakuma matata' - no worries - and they helped with a smile. me and my boyfriend both work in tourism and hospitality and know what good service quality is, we were absolutely overwhelmed by the level of service offered. A special thanks to Nawab for planning our trips and great advise and to Dula and his smiley attitude.…
We stayed one night and did not enjoy this hotel. This is an old palace and could be charming. It is filled with antiques/collectibles... everywhere, in every nook and cranny. There is no consideration to placement or display. We had rooms #35 and #12. The furnishing in the rooms were uncomfortable. There was no consideration to the guests comfort. In room 35 the queen bed was OK. There was one thin pillow each, a sheet and a scratchy blanket (we did ask (twice)for and received 2 more pillows). There was one bedside reading lamp high on the wall and one make-shift bed side table. A lovely fluorescent light over the bathroom sink and no where to place your toiletries. The chairs were eclectic chair style; hard, upright, with web seating. Room 12 was a single room. It was dark, uncomfortable and poorly decorated. The door lock was loose. The bed was 4’ off the floor-a big jump up. The roof top area is not really set up to use. Random tables and uncomfortable chairs. The views are nice. The front desk staff were rude. The dining area staff were very nice. The hotel is well located near a nice shopping street and some of the high end hotels. The hotel is clean. We often seek fun and unusual hotels, but this one was not great. I don’t understand the good reviews...…
Lying in the center of the old part of Zanzibar Town, this hotel is great for exploring the city by foot. Very pittoresque wooden balconys, nice room with mosquito net over the bed and a pool (which we did not use). Breakfast was not that good.
Lovely old style room with beautiful antique furniture, shutters at the window, loved it! In a great location where we could easily walk to restaurants, bars & beaches. Swimming pool was a delight after the heat whilst sightseeing. Lovely smoothies & coffees on offer.
Slowly but surely. One hour waiting to cook tandoori chicken.... and 15 minutes to have a juice. Its a hostel before being a restaurant. Nothing incredible and too expensive. I wouldn't recommend that place if you want to eat fast and cheap
"The two rooms on the top are exceptional with views all over the city, and glass all around.."Read full review
