We had an amazing holiday here celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary. From the moment we arrived to the time we left the staff could not have been more friendly, kind and helpful. We have never stayed in a hotel where the staff have been so courteous and genuinely friendly. The hotel is beautiful and impeccably clean. We were greeted with a welcome drink whilst our room was prepared and then escorted to our room by Elena who went above and beyond to make this a truly special holiday. We had an Ocean Junior Suite on the second floor overlooking the ocean. The room was beautifully air conditioned and had a spacious balcony with a double sun lounger, outdoor bath as well as chairs and a coffee table. The bed was huge and the room was spacious with plenty of storage space for clothing etc. The toilet was separate from the bathroom which had a large shower, double sink and make up area. We were bed and breakfast. We did consider going all inclusive but we didn’t think we would eat or drink enough to make it worthwhile. We were right as generally after a large breakfast (amazing international buffet breakfast to suit all tastes), we didn’t really need anything else until the evening, other than an ice cream and a cocktail. Comparing our final bill with an all inclusive rate we saved 50%. That said, we had booked directly with the hotel rather than a package so there may be cheaper deals. We ate at all the restaurants with our favourite being Inti (thank you Ashaay for amazing hospitality) and Bodrum Blue. All the restaurants were excellent, but these suited our taste in food very well. We give a big thank you to Reedoo who managed the beach so well. He and his team kept the sunloungers immaculate, tidying up our towels, brushing the sand off the loungers during the day and serving us so well with drinks. It was a man made beach and the sea had some patches of weed, but it was still beautiful and there was plenty of room to swim. We didn’t hire a car - mainly because we wanted an easy holiday. We did book two tours, but if going again we would just hire a taxi for a day. On one day we hired a taxi and the driver was great. The hotel ordered it, we agreed the rate up front and where we wanted to go and it was much cheaper than hiring a car or taking a tour. Interestingly there was an obvious difference in weather between the South which was often cooler and wetter, then here at Grande Gaube which seemed to be sunny most of the time. There were many lovely touches at the hotel, but in summary, the staff were amazing, the food was delicious and the accommodation was stunning!

Dear JCMo, Thank you so much for your great review and recommendation of your stay with us at LUX* Grand Gaube, which is much appreciated. We happily assisted you in Celebrating Life and your 25th Wedding Anniversary. We are glad you enjoyed your Junior Ocean Suite with its great view and spacious layout, and naturally with the furniture that comes with this room type. Your complimenting words on our restaurants, and especially on Bodrum Blue are fully shared and we valued your special highlight on the offerings, which are indeed value for money. When in LUX* Grand Gaube, our beaches are indeed loved by our guests and we are pleased you enjoyed your time as well. Our ‘Man with the Hat’ Reedoo is indeed offering great service to ensure you have all you need for a nice 'beachy' feeling. Our concierges are well versed in offering our guests the ease of transport via the local taxis and transport possibilities, we are therewith glad you enjoyed their services and enjoyed another piece of beautiful Mauritius in the South. To quote your summary; ‘There were many lovely touches at the hotel, the food was delicious and the accommodation was stunning!’ We are especially proud of ‘the staff were amazing’ which you kindly highlighted for Elena, Ashaay and Reedoo, serving you our LUX* Shining Hospitality. On behalf of the entire team we thank you again for your stay and we are looking forward to celebrate your 26th Wedding Anniversary with us. With our warmest regards. Frits Hannenberg.

It's hard to pick what's the best thing about this resort. It was one of the best places we stayed in our trips. The service was amazing starting with the check-in and throughout the stay. I regret not remembering their names, but everybody (we spoke with 4-5 people over the 10 days we stayed there) at the reception/concierge was so nice and helpful and very professional.
The (superior double) room was spacious and clean and tastefully decorated. We actually appreciated the little details in the decorations. The cleaning stuff did a great job and the room was re-supplied daily with water and every 2 days with coffee and tea supplies.
The breakfast food was great, fresh and had a lot of options. We had dinner at all the open restaurant in the resort and it was great, but definitely the highlights were Inti (thanks Yasser and the team for the amazing experience) and Bodrum (thanks Avish for the great service). Initially we wanted to upgrade to a half board, but I think the freedom of picking the dinning option separately was the better choice in the end. Just make sure to book the dinner in advance, sometimes it can be very crowded.
The hotel offers a lot of activities and a lot of them are free.
Both beaches and pools are great, but the adults only area which is a bit further away is truly a relaxation and tranquillity oasis. The views are great.
I recommend booking a sea plane trip (extra charge), we were blown away at the beauty of the surrounding lagoons seen from the air. Bonus was seeing a turtle and a stingray there.

Fantastic resort, place and staff.

We are very happy with our choice at the LUX Grand Gaube. We stayed here for 7 nights and were very lucky with the weather even though february is supposed to be the rainy season, we had sunshine every day.

The employers at the LUX Grand Gaube are extremly friendly and will do anything to see you happy. The beach is very nice and calm and the manager of the beach, Redo, is very funny, attentively and always cleans your sunglasses, which is very cool.
So we are thankful for our stay at the LUX Grand Gaube and would definetely recommend for anyone, with or without kids.
We will come back :)

We travelled in July 2019 and even though it is now over two years, the amazing experience has not left us we had to share it with everyone else.
The facilities were amazing and the friendly staff went over and beyond to make sure we had an experience to remember. There is so much to do on the resort, we only went out once in the 8 days we spent and we didn't get round to using many of the facilities.

We travelled as a family of 5 and our children were 6y, 3y and 10 months at the time. The rooms are lovely, very comfortable and we were given all the things we needed for the baby including a steriliser, baby bath, changing table and high chair in the room. They went above and beyond to provide pureed baby food and chef Deeptuck made sure he made different options for him daily making him and us feel like we were the only ones on the resort with the attention to detail. The staff were exceptional throughout and they were happy to help in every department. From David the manager offering us free room service the night we arrived after a long journey, to Elena who was our host, Tina who was always on the phone to take our order, help and advise us even on our itinerary to Nadege and Yesser in the restaurants.

The food was delicious in all the restaurants we tried with a lot of different options, it is hard to say which was our favourite although we went back to Beach Rouge a lot and INTI had good quality buffet unlike the regular buffet you will find in some hotels. You can order tasty food and drink on the beach with lovely ice cream just around the at Cafe Lux.

There were different water sports on offer and the kids club had a lot of different activities day and night to keep the children entertained. The ladies were very helpful, keeping us updated on WhatsApp about how the children were getting on and where they were going next. All the staff just made us feel like nothing was too much bother and they did everything with a smile. They are a credit to the resort and they have been properly trained to give excellent customer service.

We had an experience that we can never forget, we can't stop talking about it and we are looking forward to going back soon, hopefully to stay longer. I will recommend the resort without a doubt, you pay more for it but it is definitely worth it.

Tim & Sandy choice of stay once again (5th time) as the service level at this Resort is just the best. From Management and the whole team everyone can't do enough for you. The beach service is incredible. When you walk down to the beach straight away the guys come and put your towel down properly for you and ask you if they can get you anything. We stay in a Junior Suite and from cleanliness to comfort and dressing room area is fantastic. The location is so close for us coming from Mont Choisy. The property has so many restaurants and variety to choose from that you never get bored of the food. They provide so much for the children it is unreal. The quite are pool where there is a tree house and burgers is brilliant. After swimming you can go and relax on the bean bags and enjoy time with your friends. They also offer a hairdresser and one of the best Spa's on the island. Highly recommended. For us it is a fantastic getaway to go to each month since they have reopened.

My wife and I would like to thank all the staff for being so welcoming and greeting us with a smile all the time.We had a large delux room situated in the adult only section away from the main beach area and our room was cleaned and tidyed perfectly everyday by Jayshree. There is a pleasant adult only beach lagoon area close by which is unfortunately devoid of any coral to explore and is also very shallow for swimming but adequate for a cool off during the hot weather. There is also an adjacent swimming pool also adult only and an open air restaurent/barbecue for lunch and evening meal.We would like to thank Don and Kumar for looking after us at the adult beach area who constantly supplied us drinks and towels.
Our favourite restaurent was Bodrum Blue which has an open air feeling over looking the ocean. The Head Chef Enver was exceptional; cooking us some exquisite dishes with a traditional Turkish theme. Also the waiters Purgun,Pascal,Antony, and boss Dirien were all very attentive and we cannot praise them enough. The Palm Court buffet restaurent mainly for breakfast and evening dinner was also excellent with all sorts of dishes available from all over the world.
The only dissappointment was to find the All inclusive option in a 5 star hotel is not what one would expect as allot of the drinks and some food selections were extra and not included but we believe the management are looking into this.
We cannot find any fault with the service for all of the staff and management who couldn't have been more helpfull.
A special mention to the gardeners for their hard work and dedication in maintaining beautifull tidy gardens.
This was a perfect relaxing holiday for us

Dear Elaine & Simon-Wolfy, Many thanks for your great review and for staying with us at LUX* Grand Gaube to spend your relaxing holiday. We are glad you enjoyed our large rooms and the adult only zone at the Banyan, where Don and Kumar took care of you so well from their French Kiss bar. Your special highlight on our room attendant Jayshree is treasured and brought a smile to our faces. Our restaurants and bars from where we offer our guests our food and beverage service is equipped by our motivated and engaged team members. The praising words on Bodrum Blue, lead by Chef Enver and Dhiren, supported by Purgun, Pascal and Anthony were gladly shared. The all-inclusive feedback you shared, is being looked at by management to see where we can add value, and is certainly appreciated. Again we thank you for your very nice feedback on our teams and our gardeners, on behalf of all of us we are looking forward to your next stay with us. With our warmest regards, Frits Hannenberg.

We visited at the end of February 2020, this being our 3rd visit to a LUX* resort after visits to le Morne and south ari atoll , Maldives. As much as we enjoyed our stay there was a few points that to us didn’t quite hit 5* these being :
1. The arrival was subdued and didn’t feel especially welcome. We sat around for about an hour while our room was ready.
2. When it came to showing us our room we went off with another couple and had to wait to them to be showed their room while we stood about to Ben shown ours.
3. Snorkelling trip was pretty nondescript , other resorts had a guide with us in the water and welcomed with towels once out of the water. This trip did neither.
4. Often at breakfast we would be shown to a table, asked if we wanted tea or coffee, go and collect our breakfast to arrive back at the table and ask again about our drinks, this happened on more than one occasion.
5. As a returning customer we didn’t feel valued especially as over 3 holidays having spent in excess of £20,000.
6. Beach rouge is definitely not like the Maldives and could’ve done with some music / DJ at night putting out some cool vibes, I’m sure more people would’ve used this area in the evenings if this happened.

That said the beach crew were fantastic, the man with the hat especially fantastic and went out his way to make us feel a little special. Food and drink was faultless and with a lot to choose from. Our room was nice and comfortable and cleaned daily out without the personal touch.

So it’s a 4* for us , nice resort but LUX* you have done better which is a shame as I was a great promoter of the brand.

Dear Wayne, Thank you for enabling us to get in direct contact, much appreciated. Upon reading your review, as mentioned, we apologise for not having met your expectations. It is indeed the personal touch and attention to detail we usually pride ourselves at, and this was unfortunately not the case. Rest assured however that we take your feedback seriously for both improvement and training purposes. Without justifying the substandard experience, we would have liked to have received this feedback during your visit, so we could have actioned our recovery accordingly. LUX* Grand Gaube, being renovated a little over 2 years, is rapidly implementing best practices from its ‘older sisters’ South Ari and Le Morne. Notwithstanding the score in your review, which we fully respect, we would however like to keep you as our LUX* Brand Ambassador, for which I have shared your data and feedback with our Corporate Office. There is still LUX* North Male and LUX* Grand Baie (scheduled opening 2021) to be discovered and should you consider exploring these, we will certainly do our utmost in both your booking, your experience as well as for Brand Recovery. On behalf of the entire team, we are hoping to welcome you back with us at LUX*. With our warmest regards, Frits Hannenberg.

This was an amazing honeymoon. We did Dubai first and then onto the Lux Grand, what a place we had the most amazing room 3208 the view was incredible! Maybe some frosted glass at the front so you can use the bath on the balcony without flashing to the rest of the hotel 😂😂

Reedoo looked after us every day on the beach finding us a great bed, getting us a cooler box full of drink, getting us drinks all day and also doing a little flower arrangement on our last day with a Just Married sign!

The food at Inti was lovely.

Only two main restaurants to choose from on a night or a 30% discount at Inti. We ate there twice.

The staff were incredible and couldn’t do enough to help you, every breakfast, lunch and dinner time. The reception staff were also really helpful.

We liked the little honeymoon extras too, romantic meals and champagne to the room.

Thank you to all the staff for making our honeymoon so special.

I would suggest to replace water and fill the mini bar when the room is serviced that’s all I’d suggest.

This was our second stay at this beautiful property, this time for a family members’ birthday and we stayed for 2 nights. As a mid sized group (4 adults, 3 kids 4yrs -12 years), we booked 2 Junior Suites next to each other and were thrilled with the position of them. Suites faced the East and we had ocean views from the room. The suites were clean, fresh and tastefully furnished and we particularly enjoyed the bathroom (lovely free standing bathtub which can fit two average sized adults) with a beautiful outlook of a small garden with tropical plants. Loved the nice touch of having a “squirt toilet” which is not common in the hotels we have stayed in before around Mauritius. I love a “turn down service” and due to COVID, you must request it each night, but they dutifully did so which I appreciated.
The food was absolutely delicious in the main buffet restaurant- I appreciate that there is no theme each night, instead several different cuisines available to suite a variety of tastes. The pastas and pizzas were freshly cooked with little oil and the ingredients looked of a great quality (i mention this because our kids only eat from the pasta bar). Lovely range of hard and soft cheeses available as well as beautiful fresh pastries every morning (try the cinnamon sugar donuts!). All meats were melt in the mouth tender and full of flavour. Beach Rouge restaurant was a favourite as the kids can play after they’ve finished eating, leaving the adults to enjoy good food and conversation. We loved dining at Bodrum Blue for dinner as well and had more food than we could dream of finishing. Great vibe and the staff we quite fast at bringing drinks and meals.
On the whole, all staff were very friendly and accommodating (although don’t wait until the afternoon to do any water sport as the guys there mentioned each day when we wanted to use the kayaks around 4:20/30pm that we should come in the mornings as they open at 9am- it was very clear that they wanted to be packed up well before 5pm lol) and I only wish that I had taken everyone’s names as they were so so lovely. As Mauritian residents, some hotels can treat us as lesser type of guests than foreigners but we were smiled at and spoken to kindly and enthusiastically.
Well done to the whole team, you are all a credit to this hotel.

We spent 6 nights here after 1.5 weeks in South Africa, and it was just what we needed to relax after a busy schedule.
The hotel was idyllic, amazing food, drinks, service and gorgeous decor.
We ate in most of the restaurants and Bodrum Blue (Turkish) was our favourite. We also ate in the a la carte restaurant Inti (not included in AI) and I can honestly say it was some of the best food I've eaten. We spent most of our time at the adults only pool, 'Under the Banyan', special shout out to Kumar, who was amazing at looking after us and bringing the yummy cocktails / food that they served from the cute Citroen Van and the burger bar.
Overall this place is perfect for R&R and a lot of luxury and I would thoroughly recommend to anyone planning a visit to Mauritius
