Hotel staff were polite and helpful, the rooms were clean and adequate for the price. It had a microwave, fridge and relatively new A/C unit. It looks like they have been making improvements to the building itself.
Bathroom was very clean and the shower worked well. Took a bit to get the water hot but no big deal. It’s an older motel.
The pool was beautiful and clean. Well maintained.
It you are looking for modern decor, big fluffy towels and bathrobes along with coffee makers and ironing boards with irons provided in room, this motel is not for you.
If you are looking for a place with reasonable rates, clean rooms with your basic towels and washcloths a bar of soap and shampoo packets this is your place!
Close to most attractions in Saratoga Springs.
Would return again.
Upon entering the room, we noticed a slight mildew odor. I turned on the lamp on the wall near the bed, and the bulb blew out. The room was furnished with cobwebs on the ceiling, and also in the corner, complete with several dead bugs attached. This was obviously there for some time, and should have been cleaned. Later on, we tried to turn on the television with the remote, but it wouldn't budge. I turned it on manually. My wife went to the office to get a new light bulb, and batteries for the remote. The manager asked what exactly was wrong with the tv. She told him the remote probably needs batteries, and he suggested that several channels are frozen due to a satellite problem.
So now we have new batteries for the remote, but now several channels are frozen. If we could have found another motel, we would have left instantly.
Now, onto the refrigerator. Well, it was cold. That was good. It was also dirty. That was not good. The pillows on the bed were well worn, and upon taking off the pillow case, we noticed the pillows were actually stained. We understand that it is summertime, and there are lots of bugs around. But my wife did not expect to find one under the covers on her side of the bed.
The bathroom towels were among the cheapest quality we have ever used. Extremely thin. The tv on the wall rested upon a home made combination of pieces of wood nailed together, and not even painted to match the paint on the wall. The bathroom was recently renovated (compared to the rest of the room which needs attention immediately), and was large. The motel had a small pool which we did not use.
I cannot comment on other rooms, and do not want to knock the motel, but this is not the way to attract customers. The best thing is that we were out most of the day visiting attractions, and really only used the room to sleep at night. We will never go back there again. We researched other cleaner motels for our next visit, and the lesson we learned is plan well in advance, especially in this town during busy season.
If you make the decision to stay here, expect the following conditions:
Mould on ceilings and walls; Unvacuumed and stained carpets; bugs crawling on windows; thick dust on furniture; smoke smell in non-smoking rooms; cigarette burns on the sheets and blankets.
And to top it off, the manager's parting words to us were, "You Canadiens always expect too much!"
Now.....this is a filthy motel. It should not be given space on the web site. There were dead bugs, and crawling bugs on the bathroom floor. The pillows (not the pillow cases) were stained. We bring our own pillowcases, but our friend couldn't even use her pillow. The towels were the cheapest quality I have ever seen. They were small, there was only one each, and they really were for wiping yourself off after a shower, but in no way bigger enough to wrap around yourself. We asked if we would loose our deposit if we checked out and the owners wife said yes. We stayed because we were only there one night. This morning I found a bug bite on my neck that resembles what I believe to be a bed bug. I looked up the description, and unfortunately I think this is so. I have since developed another.
If there is any way that this motel could loose it's license, we would definitely contribute our experience.
