I took my wife here for her birthday and couldn't be happier with our stay! Dena is an amazing host and made us feel very welcome throughout. We booked the Harmony Hill room in the Main house. Complete with king bed, super comfortable bedding, two-sided fireplace and jacuzzi tub, it was perfect! You'll love breakfast in the Great Room in Connemara House (one of 3 houses with available rooms), a beautifully appointed space with tons of light and distinctive American colonial feel. Breakfast, which changed daily, featured super fresh scones, muffins or baked peach, followed by eggs & sausage, quiche & bacon...all delicious and with a definite farm-to-table freshness that's hard to beat.
The location gives good proximity to Storm King Art Center, West Point, Schunnemunk State Park, and Woodbury Common Outlets.
We plan on coming back this fall to experience the fall foliage, as well as Dena and John's amazing hospitality!

Along with its excellent location close to the Storm King Arts Center, Caldwell House is a lovely Victorian building with lots of charm. Breakfasts were delivered outside the door and, despite their being pre-made and packaged, they were very tasty. Best of all, the Covid precautions inspired confidence: contact-less check-in, masks required inside, and rooms disinfected for 24 consecutive hours before our arrival. Our only criticisms are that the bed was too soft and creaked, and the walls were thin enough that you could hear other guests walking around.

This was our 4th year going to Caldwell and, once again, it was a perfect weekend. Our room (Freedom Road) and the grounds are always in pristine condition and so beautiful. So many outdoor places to sit and relax with a cup of coffee or share a bottle of wine. Also, during this time of COVID, Dena and John rose to the occasion and made sure we were safe and still enjoyed all there is to offer. Plastic on the tv remotes, hand sanitizer, gloves and wipes in the room, a Keurig coffee maker in the room which makes it easier, should you be leery of being in the common kitchen. And as much as we loved dining with everyone in the main dining room, we now receive our breakfast, in a basket, at our door. I have to say, rolling out of bed in my PJs and opening the door to an amazing home cooked meal that Dena made that also included a pot of coffee, fresh fruit and fresh baked goodies, is pretty awesome. The food has always been great and that has not changed!! It was so nice to get away and not worry about anything and just relax and enjoy ourselves. If you feel the need to “escape”, look no further…Caldwell is the place.

We were so happy to see you back here again this year! You guys are such wonderful guests and it's a joy getting the chance to catch up with everything that has gone on during the last year (even though we had to do it from 6 feet away and with masks ;-) Can't wait to see you again next year! Until then, be safe, John and Dena

So before we even came here I was sold. The jacuzzi tub and king bed is what did it for me. We arrived with a contactless check in which was great because of covid. We then went to the storm king art center which was nearby. The room was large with a king sized bed and a nice window seat which is beautiful. The bed was comfortable and the room was very clean. They even provided gloves, hand sanitizer, and some Lysol wipes for any extra cleaning we wanted to do. Breakfast on day one was good. We had coffee, orange juice, egg frittata, bacon, potatoes, and a muffin. Breakfast came in a basket outside our room at 9am and we left the basket outside when we were done and they picked it up at 10am. We used the jacuzzi tub, which was amazing! We also sat outside our room on the porch that night with the fans on and it was delightful. Second day breakfast was French toast, bacon, coffee, orange juice, and an amazing raspberry white chocolate scone. I enjoyed breakfast both days! I felt that they sent lots of food and were very accommodating. I think breakfast in the basket is so cute and very safe because of covid. Check out was easy we just left the keys in the door. We were able to park right next to the building with no issues. We also went hiking in the nearby area there were many trails to choose from and before we left we made sure to hit up the nearby outlet mall. The shower was large and soap was provided as well as a little bag of toiletries. Overall I love this place. I can’t wait to come back. I’m dying to get back in the jacuzzi tub. Very romantic place! Can’t suggest it enough.

We just returned from our two day visit to the Caldwell House B&B for the New Years Eve holiday. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We were greeted by Dena, the Innkeeper when we arrived. She gave us a little history of the Inn and then showed us to our beautiful room, which had a King size bed, beautiful linens and towels, Cable TV, WiFi, Gas Fireplace, huge bath with a huge jetted shower. Just wanted to stay in the room.
Dena also explained everything we needed to know to make our stay most enjoyable.
The Inn is beautiful and well maintained as is the several acres of land it sits on.
Breakfast was special.Denas' delicious creations were served in a warm and cozy dining room in the main house.Lively conversation with the other guests and Dena and her husband John could have gone on for hours. Dena and John also provided suggestions of things to see and do and places to dine.
Would definitely stay at the Caldwell House again if visiting the area in the future.

We stayed in the Antrim room. OMG!!! BEAUTIFUL!!! The fireplace was warm without over-heating the room, the bed was comfortable, the breakfast was varied each day and really really good (not the dry bagel and a boiled egg that has become so prolific these days). The room also came stocked with complimentary snacks and they provided access to a kitchenette stocked with coffee, tea, hot chocolate and hot apple cider. They took precautions re Covid that made us comfortable moving about, and management made themselves available in case we needed anything.
Everyone should stay here at least once in their lives!!

This was a lovely Bed and Breakfast located a short distance ride from Manhattan / North NJ. I selected this for a New Year's Eve / 1st Anniversary Getaway. On a trip like this, I plan to relax in the room quite a bit and our room, Freedom Road met all my expectations. It included a cozy fireplace, incredible hot jacuzzi tub, and standing shower. It was truly an oasis without having to be completely secluded in the mountains.

I much prefer a place like this to an Air B & B. I liked the comfort of having a nice group breakfast every morning and starting the day off with a fresh cup of coffee and conversation. The morning coffee is so good by the way! We had some delicious meals nearby (Blu Pointe was my favorite) and enjoyed a hike in the area, Jessup Trail Loop to Schunemunk Mountain.

Dena and John are lovely people. I appreciate that they are environmentally conscious of their operations. We received a souvenir water bottle. I highly recommend Caldwell Inn for the level of service you are given and the relaxing rooms! And hey it's 2020 you can't beat a place that has a free guest Netflix account to use. Between that and the well-structured fireplace, I felt right at home to fall asleep easily.

My husband and I booked the entire place for our wedding weekend to accommodate our family and wedding party. We wanted a place that was nicer than the chain hotels in the area and CH did not disappoint. The grounds are peaceful and beautiful. The rooms and bathrooms are huge, something you don't see in many boutique hotels these days. The bridal suite is the perfect getting ready space for me and my bridesmaids.

I also have to commend Dena, the owner, for her organization and ensuring a smooth booking process for myself and our guests. It's clear that she takes great pride in her property and truly cares about her guests. Our stay at the Caldwell House played a big part in making our wedding weekend absolutely perfect. If you're visiting or getting married in the area, do not hesitate to book this place!

We stayed in the Cliffs of Moher Room. The room was spacious and comfortable. John and Dena pay attention to every detail. From the Keurig stocked with assorted coffee and hot chocolate, the portable icemaker, refrigerator and basket of snacks, everything was designed to make us feel at home. Especially loved the window seat looking out on the grounds. Great place to read a book!

Dena's breakfasts were delicious and Dena went out of her way to insure everyone had something they liked. She was very accommodating to one member of our party with food issues.

John and Dena were most gracious hosts and aimed to make sure everything was just right for our stay. Will definitely be back again!!

The Caldwell House is a very attractive, comfortable B & B well-situated in Orange County near the Hudson River, Storm King Art Center, and other area attractions. The Storm King room in the Carriage House was very nicely furnished, and I loved the large tub with bath products provided. Breakfast was delicious, the room was quiet, the bed was comfortable -- highly recommend this spot!
