We stayed here with our two kids at the end of a two week vacation. The hotel was a little difficult to find in suburban Long Island. Make sure you download the driving directions from the hotel web site before you set out.
On arrival check-in was friendly and efficient and we were informed of the complementary evening bar-b-que of which we took full advantage. Loads to eat and free beer. Nice setting with both indoor and outdoor pools and a pleasant bar and restaurant on site. Not too much within walking distance of the hotel. They had a shop on site and a 24hr gas station next door that would meet most needs.
The room was fine apart from the basement garage door which was below our room. There was some noise from that, but we could live with it. Well equiped, clean and comfortable with a nice breakfast.
Overall a nice hotel with above average friendly staff who made our stay enjoyable

We stayed in a 2 bedroom suite at the Residence Inn Plainview for 8 nights. Although the facility is quite worn looking, the suite was clean, quite spacious, with a full kitchen, with service for 4, toaster, coffee maker, dishwasher, stove, frig/freezer. There were 2 bathrooms, albeit small outdated bathrooms. The beds (2 Kings) were comfortable enough. The carpet was worn, the cabinets were peeling a bit (formica)---no doubt the place is tired. However, the service was great, and there are a lot of amenities there! They have a full workout room, indoor pool, outdoor pool, game rooms with pinball, air hockey, ping pong, among other games. There is a full complimentary breakfast served daily, which was quite extensive! They also served complimentary dinner nightly during the week, but we did not eat dinner there. Complimentary newspapers are available daily as well. There was a VHS player in the room, and they offer an extremely limited (maybe 6?) selection of quite old tapes to borrow. The clock radios were old, and we could not receive any stations on them. If Marriott would come in and spiff this place up, it would be something else! There is a lack of nice hotels on Long Island in my opinion, and so far, I like this one best.

Nice hotel with spacious rooms and good fscilities. Has both indoor and outdoor pools. Fitness suite is decent. Staff were tremendous, gave detailed information on local services and directions. Interior feels a bit tired and dated. Given its not cheap, the food could be improved upon.

I am surprised at how many people have written excellent reviews about this hotel. I am a constant traveler that has stayed in many different hotels of all varieties, including many residence inns.
I would like to point out that the staff is wonderful at this residence inn and is willing to do anything to help.
I do think the description of this residence inn website makes this hotel sound like it has great amenities.
However, this was probably one of the worst residence inns I have ever stayed at. As this residence inn allows animals, there is a constant smell of wet dog and cleaning supplies. The fitness center is extremely old. The locker room to the fitness center was so old and dirty, I couldn't believe anyone actually used it. The bed was lumpy and old. The carpet felt dirty. I could go on.
In general, this hotel is old and dirty. They were in the process of updating many of the rooms with new furniture, etc. However, this hotel needs a huge makeover starting from the foundation.

Good -- convenient location and freeway access, clean housekeeping, friendly staff, good amenities (pool, exercise room, business center), decent Monday-Thursday dinners and daily breakfasts (but just standard food, nothing to write home about).

Bad -- located next to a fire station (wailing sirens at all hours of the day/night can wake the dead), extremely noisy heat/ac unit, absolutely horrendous satellite TV (loses signal every few minutes, cannot watch a show without numerous interruptions), equally horrendous wi-fi signal (weak, cuts out constantly).

Overall, this place might be OK for one or two nights' stay, but for long term (e.g. 1+ months), all the "bad" and annoying things really add up.

This was the second time I've stayed here in two years. I couldn't believe this place two years ago and now this Marriott Residence Inn has really blown my mind! All of the rooms have been redone, there are new HD Wide Screen T.V.'s in all of the rooms. The Outdoor Pool Area has been made to look like a Resort or a Cruise Deck with Cabana's, Purgolas and cushion Beds! The Free Dinner buffet every night is unmatched offering Eggplant Rollatini, Roast Chicken and Roast Pork just to mention a few with free beer and wine. The fitness center has brand new equipment in it that is top of the line. The Lobby was just made over with a Georgeous new fountain at it's center. Service is the most important item. This Place excels In appearance, room comfort, food quality, amenities. But nowhere have hosts and staff been more attentive, responsive and concerned about your comfort - and enjoyment. Front Desk, Dining Room, Housekeeping, Maintenance, all are very helpful and friendly and respond promptly. This place is tops in service and comfort and well worth every dollar. I agree with others that this was my best Marriott experience at this location. This hotel beats the full-service Marriott and Hilton in neighboring Melville by ten fold! Truly the best kept secret on Long Island!! A must see is the 1200 gallon salt water aquarium in Baldino's Restaurant with the beautiful tropical fish while you are dining at a Five Star Restaurant! Try the VIP Lounge with Professional Card tables and Games for a night of excitement! Kudos to the Owners and Management of this establishment, you don't get any better than this!!!!

Couldn't beat the rate. However, outdated, thin walls, cigarette smell, barking dog at 4am. Have stayed in 20 or so residence inn over the years, this one rates towards the bottom. Back to Hilton Garden Inn next time I am in town.

Prompt, friendly, helpful front desk staff. Very clean rooms with very comfy beds. Fantastic showers and bathtubs with thick quality towels. Nice lap pool (kept warm enough for the kids) with giant hot tub. Fantastic breakfast buffet with make your own belgian waffles, egss, potatoes etc. included in room price. Breakfast room looks out over a lovely outdoor pool and deck. Free internet, 24 hour coffee service, reasonable priced snack bar/gift shop. Free guarded parking. Who could ask for more for a quick retreat, while the grand parents watch the kids. Will definately return again and again.

We stayed in in a one bedroom suite. There was plenty of room and it was clean. We also brought our dog. There was a dog walk and room for him to run around. There was one problem the toilet was not working right, which they fixed! The staff was very helpful!
There is a one time fee for your pet $75, but they returned it because of the problem with the bathroom. I would stay there again. I highly recommend it. You will not be disappointed.

I noticed some less than stellar reviews, therefore, I had some concerns. We had no issues finding a parking spot, the hotel was very clean and the front desk very friendly and accommodating in changing my room assignment to a higher floor (my request).

The room was exactly as expected and there was no road noise at all, air conditioning worked perfectly and it was very clean.

The rest of the hotel is quite surprising, it is not the usual pattern of the Residence Inn and therefore, it was a little more enjoyable, since there were extra amenities to enjoy and explore!

We didn't avail ourselves of the complimentary dinner (we had already dined), however there were plenty of people doing so, and as we walked thru, it looked fine! We did have a glass of wine which we took to the lobby to sit and chat and enjoy!
Breakfast was the usual choices, so therefore, plenty to set you up for the morning! I enjoyed the vitamin enhanced water at breakfast, only because I don't care for juices.

Clearly this is not the newest choice in hotels - however, it very perfectly suited our needs and we won't hesitate to stay in the future!

This hotel has a 2 burner stove top, no oven. It has a full size refrigerator, microwave and dishwasher. There is a fully equipped BBQ area near the pool for outdoor cooking. The star ratings are based on the reviews, the class rating is based on the amenities and offerings the hotel has.

The first suite we were given had a large kitchen. There is not a full oven, but there is a cooktop, large fridge and microwave. Maybe a dishwasher? There was dishware, cutlery, pots, pans. The second suite we were moved to was a much smaller kitchen area. They were both clean. I wouldn't go back.

The rooms closest to the lobby are often reserved for guests with pets. I love dogs. But the yapster in the room right off the lobby was a terror and that's why we moved rooms. Parking early in the day is fine. Later on it is tough.
