Unfortunately, I had no choice but to rate it as just average. When they checked us in, they gave us a handicapped accessible room. I’m not sure why—the hotel wasn’t sold out, and clearly we did not request, or need an accessible room. The shower was difficult, at best. It consisted of a hand held shower head that didn’t work. I wanted to call the front desk and make a complaint, but it was late and I was standing in a shower that didn’t operate properly. My other complaint is the noise. Someone was slamming doors, stomping hard and just being plain loud and insensitive towards other guests.
The front desk clerks were pleasant and gave us toothpaste samples because we forgot some personal items, and the Bistro looked like it had decent/inexpensive food, but it wasn’t open.
The location is also a little odd, but it seemed all the hotels on this street were the same. They did farther back, behind the restaurants and you really have to pay attention to where you need to turn.
I would probably stay here again, but I would recommend checking to make sure you have a working shower, and apparently I would make it clear you’re not in need of a handicapped accessible room, because it seems they must put guests in one unless requested otherwise.
Suggestions:Â
Room door hydraulics still slam doors shut which is completely audible in my room. Having to pay for breakfast is a first for me in all my travels this year.Â
When I tried to use my amazon firestick to watch my apps on the TV, the TV volume was uncontrollably loud.Â
There was no hair dryer in my room.Â
Coffee table scratches could easily be fixed with the dollar store furniture touch up marker set as maids clean the rooms.Â
Feather pillows were so soft/flat I had to use my own.Â
Ceramic coffee mugs would be nice (another dollar store purchase).Â
Tissue box cover would also be nice since mine was ripped.Â
Walls could be better insulated, I could hear my neighbor talking, singing, yawning, laughing and his TV.
Normally we don't have any issues at Marriot. We stayed at two other Marriott's in Philadelphia with no issues but I would never stay here again, there are plenty of other options.
Cons: bit on the pricy side, but I guess it’s to be expected when a baseball tournament is in town. No free continental breakfast. Toilet seats in the bathroom were very low (as per the other comment) and could’ve used a grab bar.. they box the toilet area into a corner of the room and partition off the area with a 5ft wall for privacy. It was just annoying to go downstairs every time I needed to use the bathroom. I understand it’s a design choice and putting in a grab bar may not be feasible because it is a bit small but just be aware of it if you’re booking a room.
