Detailed Reviews
Well I love Eagle Bay Village for many reasons. My dad and his family started going when he was a child and brought me there every year since I was born. I am now a young adult and still enjoy going up every year not due to how well the place is run, but due solely on the fact of all the memories made and history my family and close friends have made throughout the years.
Don't get me wrong the place is in a great location with beach access. It is right between Inlet and Old Fordge and surrounded by mountains. The new owners took it over several years ago after Mary and they have made several upgrades. They have painted the excising cabins, and have added nice new trailer cabins but these changes were made when first bought. Since then they have done little and they are more invested in their "other" jobs they have else where rather then Eagle Bay Village. You would think since BOTH owners live on the property that they would be there if a need did arise, but no they are usually not to be seen. The "teen" cabins have not been touched in over twenty years the furniture is broken and ripped. The motel has mice. Towels are not regularly cleaned everyday. The grass is not always cut. When I was a child Mary always had shuffle board, the tennis courts available, the bball court usable, and the game cabin always stocked. Since then it has not been touched leaving little to do when it rains, and it usually rains 2x a week when up there. Now there is no bball court and the tennis court is filled with crap, and in addition the swing set is older than me and probably needs to be upgraded.
If it wasn't for all the memories made I would not waste my time and energy going. The people that were not allowed back made that place for what it once was. They got everyone playing volleyball and other games. Those people were never warned and it is cowardly of the owners to take pride in something like that when they did not have the balls to talk to them telling them to settle down or to change their ways. The families not allowed back have more history there than anyone I know and they made it fun and enjoyable for everyone to be there.

Stayed in the oldest house that holds 20 with extended family and lots of kids. We came up here as a family 30 years ago for many years and decided to make it a destination vacation to celebrate our parents' 40th anniversary.
The place is still great. You couldn't have a better place to be with a young family. There was always something to do...playground, beach, shuffleboard, hiking, games, paddleboat... Lots of options nearby - we rented a motorboat for the day, hiked Bald Mountain another...
Can't wait to come again next year as just our small little family in one of the smaller cottages. Well worth the money and looking forward to many years of fun and relaxation.

I've been staying at EBV with my family for 5 years now, and am kind of in the middle of the other reviews. The cabins are fine for the price ( just look at what some of the other local places rent for! ), and the grounds are OK. Good family place. Nothing fancy, but not bad at all.
But the first review about the people who stay in the motel is right. We've been staying around the fourth of July every year, and the motel residents just go nuts with the beer and the fireworks at all hours. The partiers usually clear out after a couple of days, and things get quieter again. If I had small kids or wanted a quieter kind of vacation, I'd get annoyed too.
The owners are all nice and helpful, but they really aren't around all the time until after about 6:00pm, when I've been there, in spite of what some of the other reviewers said. Maybe it has to do with the time of year when you visit. When they are there, they're wonderful. Sometimes you just have to wait a couple of hours to get one of them.

I've been going to the Eagle Bay Village for decades - literally. First, with my parents, when I was a kid, and then for the past 10 years or so, with both my parents and my children.
EBV has a lot of potential - it's in an excellent location on Fourth Lake. The grounds have cabins and houses around the edges, and they're not so close to each other than you can reach out your window and hand the next door neighbor a tissue when they sneeze, but not so far as to preclude easy socialization. There's a huge open area in the middle with playsets, a sandbox, space for baseball games, etc. They have a ton of dock space for boaters. There's a number of great rock formations for the kids to play on. It's within walking distance of a supermarket, a few restaurants, and a laundromat. The sand beach is level, large, and slopes gradually into the water, for good swimming. There are a number of nearby hiking trails. Most of the cabins and houses are in reasonably good shape, though they all need some paint and TLC. There are a couple of places that are truly bad, though. The office, for example, has a rotted wooden railing around the porch that has nails sticking out - and it's been that way for a couple of years.
The biggest problem is that in the last few years, the on-site motel has become a haven for college students and 20-somethings who party continuously. And I do mean continuously. There are only have a dozen units in the motel, but it is literally a daily occurance for there to be 3 to 5 *large* trash bags of beer cans scattered around the motel each morning. The motel residents tend to be extremely loud, and to top it off, seem to take great pleasure in setting off fireworks at 2:00am in the morning, night after night. The owners don't seem to have any interest in actually enforcing their posted quiet hours, as the shouts, fireworks, and other noise happened every night for days.
Associated with that is that the four owners are almost never around. They all apparently have "outside" jobs, and thus, more or less leave EBV to run itself. There were several occasions in which we tried the various cell phone numbers, etc. that they provide, but were unable to contact anyone.
It's gotten bad enough that, unfortunately, my family won't be returning next year. In conversations with other long-time visitors, several have expressed the same frustrations over the problems there, and are not returning, as well. It's truly unfortunate that a place with such happy memories and such good potential is falling victim to neglect.

Stayed here over Labor Day weekend - used to vacation here with family in summers when I was a kid - the place has not been kept up in the 40 years since I last visited! We stayed in the main house - the side facing the Lake - it was a wreck! When we booked, Judi told us it was old and "needed love" but guaranteed it was clean. When we got there, three of us with mold allergies had severe headaches for 2 of the 3 days from the mold that must have been throughout - probably in the dropped ceilings and in the carpet and furniture fabric. The outside (see photos) had broken steps, broken porch screens and doors and a balcony not safe enough to go out onto. Inside was worse - the staircase was propped up with wooden boards, carpets and furniture were soiled (and moldy), we blew a fuse using a heater and microwave at the same time - electrical was scary - we were told there was heat, but the furnace was not working (hence the space heater given to us), were also told we had wifi - we did not - no router in the place. window screens did not fit properly into the windows, showers, sinks and toilets were ancient and stained - plumbing and showers were primitive, kitchenware was inadequate for any basic cooking - one dented and blackened pan, etc. The oven hadn't been cleaned in who knows- the racks were covered with foil that had layers of grease and grime on them - the oven knob was broken, so we could not be sure what temperature we were cooking on. The walls had peeling, stained paint. Was an absolute horror show! Judi offered to give us our money back if we wanted to leave - but where would we have gone at that point? The town and surrounding area was booked completely for that weekend - so an empty gesture for sure! All I can say is thank goodness it wasn't any colder that weekend, because we tried to spend as much time as we could outside to avoid being in the Bates Motel! Sad to say, that was my absolute last time ever staying at Eagle Bay!

Had two cabins for 4 adults and 2 little children. Priced very reasonably to allow a family to get away. The child friendly beach kept the little ones running in and out of the water all day, not to mention using all of the sand and water toys that were made available by EBV. At the end of the day, the children were tired, not too tired to roast marshmallows to enjoy before bed. The cabins are well kept, remembering the number of people who use them throughout the season. Some freashly painted, new curtains hung, lawn mowed and beach groomed. Prices have not been rasied in quite a few years, allowing young families and extended families to return year after year. People just have remeber to be respectful of others and you can have a wonderful time watching your children and grandchildren enjoy this Adirondack gem.

Eagle Bay Village had a few rough years with revelers who did little to respect the families who were trying to have a wholesome vacation. The family who let their teens and 20 somethings party into the night are no longer welcome at Eagle Bay!
Last year, we had our first quiet, peaceful family vacation at this location in a long time.
I have been staying at Eagle Bay Village for 37 years. As a child with all my extended family, as a young single person and now, as a family with a young child. I keep coming back to Eagle Bay because of the wonderful beaches (shallow enough for small children), the peaceful evenings around the fire and the location to other attractions.
Many of my aunts, uncles and cousins have found their way back to the mountains, and we all had a wonderful time staying at Eagle Bay Village. I'm glad that the owners have made the changes that were necessary to bring Eagle Bay Village back to what it should be, a quality, family oriented resort. We are very much looking forward to this year!

I have lived in Arizona for the past 2.5 years and moved here from Cold Brook, NY (50 miles south of Eagle Bay). I really enjoy going to EBV, even when i lived there. I happen to be the owners (Donovans) nephew, and I really look forward to going back every year. Being down here in the hot desert (115 degree's) in the city of Phoenix working for the county, nothing makes me more excited than to know that i'm approaching vacation time.
My aunt and uncle (especially Brad) have poured their hearts and souls into the place and have made vast improvements to the property over the past few years. I remember helping them mow the lawn, doing odd jobs around the camp and my family and I helped build the impressive dock that they now have. I travel over 2900 miles every year just to spend time in the adirondacks and on the lake. It's a wonderful place to be and I honestly wish i could get a job in that region, but for now I'm in AZ. The landscape is so magnificant that my other Aunt and Uncle got married on the property. Its a great family retreat and i honeslty believe you will enjoy it to.
