Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Granted, The Thayer Hotel is the best location for attending West Point events, but the rooms are sold out years in advance for events such as graduation. When you're flying in, then the hotel selection becomes even more critical. I found that flying into Stewart airport really made it convenient to get to West Point easy compared to other airports such as JFK. My best experience was fly in/out of Stewart and stay at The Thayer...However, I had to look for a different lodging arrangement for the graduation and chose this hotel. Why? I was arriving late like 10pm so I wanted somewhere it was close to the airport. As the name implies, it is literally minutes from the airport. Getting to West Point from the hotel was also straightforward (about 30 minutes driving). As for the hotel itself, it's not the newer Courtyard design, but they were working on upgrading. My room was clean and quiet to let me have a peaceful sleep. Flying out was also very convenient. Just a few minutes drive to the airport to catch my flight. Your experience may vary if you're staying for a different reason. However, for my purpose it was the second best next to staying at The Thayer in terms of convenience (and I stress convenience here).

Slightly above average Courtyard at least based on our lobby and third floor room. Lot of bad reviews in 2020-2021 mentioned renovation problems but that work seems complete at least in parts we stayed on. Clean room with newer furniture, nice beds, and unusually bright lighting. Very friendly staff even the housekeeper who shared she’d been working double shifts all month because they were shorthanded. Lobby bistro was closed for holiday (short staffed) so hotel laid out free coffee, bagels, and pastries which was nice. Fitness room was good. Indoor pool is tiny. Decent spot for overnight stop. Small refrigerator on room is in dresser on opposite side from coffee maker which is weird and took us a few minutes to find but it worked.

Clean, nothing to write home about. There was a sign on the elevator that says it's out of order, but it was working fine, even if it's unnervingly loud. Coffee/breakfast bar was very slow and constantly out of coffee. Free parking though.

My family and I had a car emergency and had to stay over night in Newburgh. We requested a roll away and told when arriving it was not available. When we asked if there we any other options the front desk personnel abruptly told us nope, sorry.

The beds were not comfortable and had two double beds in the room - no sleeper sofa, no roll away and said it would sleep 4 adults. That is a very big stretch. The front desk was not helpful and curt, offering no options. It doesnt take any extra money, etc to be polite and attempt to be accommodating. These folks didnt even try.

They did make sure to emphasize three times that breakfast was NOT included. The prices ala Starbucks were outrageous. Family of 4 to eat very small entrees totalled over $50. No coffee, nor tea available in the lobby. Nothing.

Really fell short of Marriott hospitality and standards. I only stay in Marriotts worldwide and I've had better stays and personnel interactions in West African countries.

Really disappointing. So you definitely have other choices when staying in the airport vicinity, do your research and stay somewhere else.

Thank you for your feedback. I have spoke to the staff member in regards to your concerns. Unfortunately we do not have control over the Bistro of the Bistro and having coffee or tea to be complimentary, that is a Marriott standard.

As mother of the bride I arranged for a block of 25 rooms at the Courtyard Marriott Newburgh Friday and Saturday July 29-30 2022. Several guests booked outside of the block so we had about 30 rooms.
From the time we visited the hotel in February until checkout Sunday morning, our experience could not have been more perfect! The manager, Patty Earl, an experienced hotelier, heads a professional and friendly staff. The lobby was super clean and bright. There’s beautiful new outdoor furniture on a large outdoor patio.
The rooms were ready early due to a hard working staff. I stayed in a suite and it was larger than expected. We were able to use the meeting room for breakfast and staff was always present to offer help. I think I asked a lot of questions but I never felt that I was bothering anyone!
I’ve read that people who have negative experiences are at least 10 times more likely to leave reviews so it is important to me to leave a positive review! All of our guests were similarly impressed with this hotel.
Lastly I think kindness and understanding on the parts of guests is important. Covid took a toll on the hotel industry and if there is a shortage of staff, guests need to understand it is not the fault of those people who are there working, doing their best to accommodate guests.
You will not be disappointed to stay at this hotel! We thank Ms Earl and staff again!

This Courtyard was quiet, clean, and well-maintained. We stopped there for just one night. While the sofa bed in our room wasn’t made up upon Bonvoy App request, the housewoman on duty was happy to help us out so we could get our child to bed. (We arrived late due to the weather.) We truly appreciated her help since we were exhausted from our road trip.

Breakfast is overpriced and didn’t taste great. I don’t know how one messes up oatmeal, but I won’t ding the hotel for that.

Would definitely stop here when coming through town in the future.

From the jump, this stay was horrific. Began the process of checking in and was told “Our air conditioning is broken.” At no point prior to checking in were we made aware of the situation or offered to help find alternative accommodations. We were put in a first floor room “because it will be cooler.” Mind you, this is a hotel off an interstate near an airport…. So keeping the window open was off the table. After a sleep sauna, we were awakened to the sound of fire alarms. Almost 2 hours standing in a parking lot in pajamas and at no point did a hotel employee attempt to offer an apology, let alone try to make the situation better. Night 3, my wife and I have an early flight the next morning. A group of 10-15 people decide to hijack the lobby for loud, drunken conversation that made sleep all but impossible. When we call the front desk, the person on duty says there is nothing they can do. At around 1 AM, when my wife goes to talk to the front desk, the woman on duty is in the office texting, making no effort to get this group to quiet down or move to their rooms. Needless to say, no attempt to apologize either…

The hotel is run-down and has had renovations done that allow it to appear updated in professional pictures. It is in need of a shut down renovation. The elevator didn't work and we heard it nerds to be replaced. The rooms had a superficial cleaning. Grime, dust, wall and doors we visibly filthy. The hallway and room wallpaper is peeling. Switch covers are grimey and missing paint is sloppily applied grout and caulk missing and mildewing. Basic construction quality standards were never inspected.

The beds seemed cheap compared to other Marriott hotels

The hotel room was well over $200 a night. It's a $75 a night hotel at best

Beware of the cancellation policy. This hotel is charging me the entire amount of the one night stay I had to cancel because my partner tested positive for Covid and we could not attend the event we were planning to go to that would require the hotel stay. So disappointed since it was more than 24 hours advance cancellation.

This place is a dump, and not at all what I've come to expect from a Marriott Courtyard property. Moldy ceiling tiles, peeling wallpaper, a hole in the wall of my bathroom, and for my lifetime platinum membership I was rewarded with a room overlooking an overflowing dumpster. I will definitely never spend another night here!
