Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I have been going to the Locust Grove Motel for over 20 years during July & August Saratoga horse racing season. The place is clean, you get two full size beds; cable TV and a kitchenette area. The ride to the track is less than 10 minutes. There is a nice restaurant (Bentley's) within walking distance and a nice bar across the street. I can go with the girlfriend and/or my brother and have $$$ left for the track. This place is a great value and management (Peter) is great. To get a good feel for the place, "google" the address and "map" to street level. You are also close (less then 10 minutes) to town of Saratoga; Trotter track/casino and SPAC for concerts.

My friend and I stay there every year for 3 days on our Saratoga visit
The place has improved over the last three years. New mattresses
have greatly improved the rooms.
The place is rustic and fits right in with the country atmosphere unlike the
'ritzy' overpriced places downtown
There is a nice shack for morning breakfast with fresh fruit and donuts.
Also, it is across the street from a great bar, Almost Saratoga, which means
we do not have to worry about driving.

My husband and I went up for the horse racing with another couple and one other guy. The motel is in a nice setting with tall trees (I assume they are locusts). Our room had two double beds, a full-size fridge, microwave, and cook top (no stove). However, if you are planning to cook, bring your own utensils as there aren't any in the room. My complaint is that the room REEKED of smoke. We were in a smoking room but our friends were in a non-smoking room and they said their room also smelled of smoke. It is an older place, so I guess all the rooms were smoking rooms at one time.

The location was good -- close to the track and the town of Saratoga. There are a few restaurants within walking distance as well as a convenience store.

The rates were quite a bit less than other places. The owner puts out coffee and pastries in the morning. I would stay there again, but would ask for a non-smoking room.

Just booked a weekend for the upcoming July 4th 2014.
Stayed there last year and have no complaints.
Clean rooms, good AC and nice sized kitchenette.
There is a convenience store directly next to the motel, and a great diner directly across the street.

The owner is very kind, and more than accomodating.
Great place and is only 5-10 minute drive from SPAC.

This place is God awful. The good reviews written about this place must be from the owners or the employees. As soon as I walked in the door the stench hit me. I immediately left to get some candles to burn to combat the smell. The carpet is disgusting with stains and rips. The wall had holes in it, and the bathroom was unbearable. I did not shower that night for fear of staph infection or something. Needless to say the night was unpleasant with little sleep. We left at first light just to get out of there. We talked to the locals about the place and they said it was called "the welfare place". This place is nasty, dirty, and apparently has mice because as we were packing to leave, we saw the traps by the refrigerator. its a good thing we didn't catch one in the night, because that would have completed the night for me. Never again. I don't care how desparate we are.

We needed a low cost hotel close to SPAC in Saratoga Springs for the DMB concert. We found this website with no pictures of the motel. It was $69 per night when everything else was close to $200 so I was a little concerned. Turned out so be OK, smelled like smoke and a little old but clean beds and bathroom, had air conditioning. Very nice owners. Great location to concert. Took use 5 mintues to drive to SPAC and could have walked had we known how close it was, however it was on US Route 9. Perfect if you are just crashing for the night and don't want to pay high Saratoga Springs prices.

We had a room with two double beds that had old bedspreads and no blankets. No blanket in closet either. The place is very dated with an orange Formica counter in kitchenette area. Bathroom fixtures old but clean. Towels adequate and clean. Mattresses and boxspring were old and gross. Used my own blanket that we had in the car. The owner was accommodating with dining advice and directions to track etc...overall the place was affordable for race dates in Saratoga . I'd consider camping next year

We were just looking for a clean, quiet place for the evening so we could head out early to a regatta in Saratoga Springs. This place was just fine. If you are looking for plush accommodations, this is not the place, but it served our purpose.
The owner was very nice and accommodating, even though we arrived late. He was knowledgeable and helped us plan our early morning travel. There is a central thermostat for all the rooms, so we could not adjust the heat, but he was great with bringing us a space heater that worked just fine and made the room comfortable.
The motel is standard fare, a bit dated and no frills, but worth the discounted fare. We were pleasantly surprised to find a refrigerator, stove and microwave. There was free wifi and everything in the room worked. It was quiet and clean.
The location was great with easy access off the highway and in close proximity to Saratoga Springs. If you are looking for an inexpensive place for a quick overnight, this place fits the bill.
