Detailed Reviews
A unique hideaway in a beautiful area! Marion and Joe are terrific hosts and see to it that their guests are comfortable and have everything they need. The rooms are quaint and clean. The food is fantastic and the atmosphere friendly and cozy. It is literally at the end of a long road into the woods and lies on the shore of the Stillwater Reservoir. I've always been there in winter, but plan to come back for hummingbird season, which is most of the summer - Marion takes care of those little guests every year, too!
And did I mention how good the good is...?

We were getting tired of restaurants in this area of the ADK (such as Inlet, Eagle Bay & Old Forge) having only certain nights open to the public or a very limited menu. Not at Stillwater! We were pleasantly surprised to see a full menu and open 7 days a week! Food was fantastic & the wait staff was very personable. It was well worth the drive!

Five stars. I stayed three nights for a kayak trip on Stillwater Reservoir with a college friend. We rented kayaks from Darryl at the Stillwater Shop next door. The room at the hotel was basic (very small bathroom) and very clean, everything worked. Meals were outstanding. Best pork chop I have ever had. Breakfasts are huge. Marian and Joe are perfect hosts, very friendly and helpful. This is not a chain, not fancy, it is true and remote Adirondacks. I will be back. I loved it here.

we stopped in one afternoon for lunch in our travels, the steak sandwich was filling and good , the ham & cheese sandwich was ok, I had a soft drink and my husband had a ice tea , the service wasn"t that great and there was only one other couple there. Should this have added up to a forty dollar lunch, probably not.....lesson learned, there was a bright spot, nice sceneary

We visit Stillwater Restaurant a couple of times during the summer months. The food is always very good and the owners very personable. We enjoy the humming birds that feed on feeders that are attached to the windows and on the deck. The atmosphere is very relaxing overlooking the water and watching the boats. They have a very good wine list and unlike other restaurants you can get any wine they have by the glass. I especially enjoy the Petite Petit. I ordered the pecan crusted salmon with maple syrup and my husband ordered the roast duck. We had homemade corn bread just out of the oven and many extras that you would not get just anywhere. We will be back.

Started our kayak camping trip from the Stillwater Hotel. You couldn't find better hosts than Marian and Joe. They made you feel you were visiting old friends, and were a wealth of information about the area. The food was excellent, the views, fantastic. I'll be back!

+1
Family atmosphere! From the moment I arrived I was made to feel at home and part of the Stillwater family. Marion and Joe are wonderful hosts and have built an amazing business because of their personalities. I can only speak about the winter and my snowmobile trip because this was my first visit of many to come. I cannot recall many trips where the owners would join you at or after dinner and chat just like you were family, and when you left a hug was bestowed along with a firm handshake from Joe. The food was excellent and the portions were large and appreciated. I travelled to New York on my own and both Marion and Joe were constantly introducing me to fellow sledders to make sure I felt comfortable with the trails. I would highly recommend Stillwater Hotel as a destination. The lot is constantly packed with snowmobilers who have been coming back year after year. Marion and Joe, I wish you all the best Thank you .
