Detailed Reviews
Several years ago in the winter I was traveling and found myself in the snow in Hornell.
I stopped and had a most pleasant and inexpensive night of good rest.
I have never forgotten this place, so, THIS Fall, returning from an extended road trip, I am PLANNING to stay here on my way home to New England.
THANKS for what you DO! Keep up the good work.

My husband and I were on an impromptu trip back to his hometown of Hornell New York. We were kind of jumping from place to place, not doing a lot of advance planning.
As we left the Corning Museum of Glass (Worth the trip by itself), I got on the TripAdvisor app to look for a hotel in Hornell. The reviews of the Sunshine Motel were absolutely correct.
This is a small, exquisitely maintained and updated motor court. You will not believe the value that you get for the money. The only hygiene amenity you get in the bathroom is soap, and of course clean towels & TP, but most people today seem to travel with their own shampoos and hairdryers, so I don't think you will miss them.
There is Direct TV, and Wi-Fi. If you leave the motel grounds and walk approximately 10 minutes to your left there's a great bar restaurant called Club 57, and if you leave the grounds and walk to your right approximately less than 10 minutes is the country kitchen diner café for breakfast (we did not check that out).
I hesitate to say how inexpensive it was, for fear that we won't be able to get in there again once it gets known about. However, as far as I'm concerned it is a way better value for the money then the neighboring Econolodge at $65 a night, or the days inn which I think was quoting $85 a night when we came through town.
The night we got there, we did not have the phone number to book ahead but luckily we ended up with the last double bed room that was available: and by double room I mean one double bed--which was completely comfortable for my husband and me. There was a desk/dresser, and easy chair, and a nightstand. What more do you need for a one or two night stay when you're out exploring the countryside?
For the ease of other travelers the phone number is: 607-324-4565. They take all major credit cards, and you pay when you check in: no need to check out in the morning.
I toured for many years as a stage manager, and I wish half of our smalltown hotels were as nice as this one.

This motel advertises as the best rates in town, and for $26, it can't be beat. It's not luxury by any stretch, but it's in better shape than many $40-50 motels. The room was small but clean, with a comfortable bed.It had a shower, but no tub. No fridge either, but for 1 night, it's fine. The location is good, close to the main road, but set back, I didn't hear hyway noise. The ground are nice, grass and trees, and a gazeebo.Door opens to the outside, no indoor coridors, but no noisy neighbors either. This is a good place for a 1 night stop on the way between Buffalo,Rochester, and Corning.

The Sunshine Motel is an old fashioned motor court. It is clean, exceedingly well maintained, and inexpensive. It has cable television and WiFi, clean sheets, hot and cold running water, abundant towels, soap, water glasses. That's about it, but then the price is right. It is located in western New York about half a mile off Exit 34 of I-86, the Southern Tier Expressway, on the old highway into Hornell. The location is good for those who are looking for a place to stay in the western Finger Lakes region. It is also good for those who are visiting Alfred University or SUNY Alfred, which are about 15 miles distant. My wife and I stayed there when we came to see my daughter at Alfred University. It appears that the owners operate the place, and they do a good job of it. They are quite responsive, but sometimes they are out on errands. The Sunshine Motel comes up on the internet, but you must call to make reservations. It's easy enough and worth the effort. I have stayed there twice and would gladly stay there again, perhaps if we came back to see the Finger Lakes. It's all that we are looking for in overnight accommodations, and astonishingly inexpensive.

Awesome little Motel. Stayed 2 nights while on an ATV trip at Tall Pines ATV Park, Will stay again. Can't beat the price and quiet location. Nice dinner at club 57 which is a minute away. Owner nice and friendly room clean, plenty of parking for truck and trailer.

Great little motel, I wasn't expecting much due to the low price. Was I surprised, very clean and comfortable room. There was no shampoo or hair dryer but I had brought my own so no problem. Very quiet, friendly staff and comfy beds. We will be going back when in the area.

Modestly done rooms that are clean and comfy, with a quiet location away from traffic noise..don't expect shampoos and amenities other than soap, but the price is fantastic and staff are helpful and cheerful!
I did have to unscrew the lightbulb outside my room to darken it, but that was the only bump in this stay..if you're looking for amazing value, I totally recommend!!

If you're looking for a decent overnight stay without any bells and whistles, then this is your place. It is literally a room with a bed or two to sleep on and a warm shower. There are no amenities. All that is included is a bar of soap and towels. If you need anything else you will have to bring it with you. But it is clean and very inexpensive. I've paid for add on charges at hotels for one night that cost more than an overnight stay at the Sunshine Motel. We will definitely be back.
