We loved our 5 day stay at this beautifully appointed and comfy inn. Simon and Miranda are the consummate hosts, with Miranda whipping up ginormous delicious vegan breakfasts every morning and running the show and Simon as the “front” man, serving up all the guests, chatting everyone up, providing suggestions and commentary on places to visit, and even providing entertainment upon request (ask him about his band Swill!). The inn itself is a very unique octagonal shaped historical building with lovely grounds and outdoor seating, but it’s the genuine warmth and hospitality of the hosts that really make this inn special. They truly enjoy hosting guests and make every effort to make you feel welcome. The location of the inn is ideal for wine tasting, with dozens of wineries along the lake. And there are lots of other sites worth visiting within driving distance, including the Corning Museum, the Curtiss Museum, Cornell Botanical Gardens, Watkins Glen Gorge, etc. We highly recommend staying at this inn as a great place to relax and as an ideal base to explore the area.

We so enjoyed our stay at The Black Sheep Inn and can highly recommend! The Garden Suite was the perfect self-sustained accommodation for us, with a well-appointed kitchen (dishes, utensils, microwave, oversized frig with enough freezer space to freeze our ice bricks). The highlights were the amazing vegan breakfasts served on the patio (still thinking about them a month later!), accompanied by the fabulous personalized breakfast service and lovely conversation with the hosts. Miranda and Simon go above and beyond to make you feel welcome and relaxed. Really appreciated all the extra touches like the vegan chocolates, local "champagne" and vegan toiletries. The historic Octagon home is interesting and beautiful, surrounded by a lovely garden setting. Hammondsport is charming and Keuka Lake offers lots to do, amid fabulous views.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 4 night stay at the Black Sheep Inn & Spa. Simon and Miranda are wonderful hosts that work hard to ensure their guests are well looked after. They were very accommodating and accessible while also respecting guests' privacy and giving us lots of space to relax and unwind. Simon is very knowledgeable about the area and things to do (and a lot of fun to chat with)! Miranda's breakfasts were amazing! We are not vegans but I will say that we are ready to give it a try after sampling her freshly made creations. From her gingerbread granola to double chocolate breakfast muffins, we were never disappointed. And that is just the starter! Full English breakfast in vegan form I never thought could be done but it was terrific. My carnivore husband really enjoyed it. We highly recommend checking out the Black Sheep Inn and Spa located on the outskirts of the lovely town of Hammondsport in a quiet and peaceful location. You won't be disappointed!

We had a fantastic time at the B&B. Miranda and Simon were warm and welcoming hosts. The Inn is beautiful both inside and out. We stayed in the Curtis room and the bed was extremely comfortable and layered with heavy warm blankets that made for a deep and enjoyable sleep. Miranda did not scrimp on breakfast, each breakfast started with homemade baked goods with the addition of homemade granola and fresh fruit. All of that was then followed with a freshly prepared selection of your choice. You won’t go hungry in fact you’ll most likely be taking some leftover baked items on your days journey. Simon is friendly and easy to chat with. He’s happy to suggest ideas for a day around the lake. We spent our days visiting a few wineries ( reservations are highly suggested), stocking up at Oak Hill, and dinner in Hammondsport. We recommend the Park Inn restaurant. We look forward to another visit.

My husband and I just returned from several days in the Finger Lakes region. The Black Sheep Inn appealed to us because it seemed very unique not only in it's physical beauty, but in a chance to have a vegan breakfast every day. We were also encouraged by comments here on TA regarding the wonderfully friendly and welcoming Miranda and Simon. We really appreciated how nice they have made their establishment and the obvious thought and effort they have put into every detail. Yet, you feel unrushed and truly comfortable there. Simon is a font of knowledge of the local area and we came to rely on his recommendations. Miranda opened our eyes to veganism and we enjoyed plentiful, delicious breakfasts both on the outdoor patio and in the Inn's large dining room. She also makes wonderful granola which we bought to bring home. There are several nooks and crannies both indoors and out where you can relax and enjoy your tablet or a good book. There is coffee and tea and cookies available to help yourself on both floors. The bed was fabulous (we had the Youngslove Room) along with a spacious bathroom that had Neil's Yard toiletries from London. The owner's make every effort on your behalf so you feel pampered during your stay. The signature robes are soft and there is welcoming champagne as well as chocolate treats in your room for when you arrive. The Inn is a short 5 min drive from town and the lake, but is very quiet and restful. By all means, come to the Black Sheep In for a restorative, cosseting experience with lovely hosts.

The two of us spent 9 days at this very special place. Which was not enough time to fit in everything the finger lakes in upstate NY had to offer. Besides being in an excellent location to visit the many vineyards in the area, enjoy the the lakes and waterfalls and an easy drive to Niagara, this unique building oozes character and charm. We are not vegans however the breakfasts here are super tasty with a menu to suit all tastes in a healthy way. It’s made us consider our food options going forward. Miranda’s marvellous muffins are a treat not to be missed. And Her home made granola is to die for. Simon is a fountain of knowledge and an excellent tour guide. I definitely recommend staying at this wonderful building at the edge of the woods, 1 mile from Keuka lake. Enjoy Miranda and Simons great British hospitality experience the beautiful surrounding it which it resides and immerse yourself within a stylish masterfully crafted, character property.

We had our wedding in Hammondsport and spent the long weekend at The Black Sheep Inn after reading all of the outstanding (and accurate!) reviews. If you are celebrating an event in the Finger Lakes, or just on vacation and looking for the perfect special place to stay, do not hesitate to book here.
The property is gorgeous with thoughtful incorporation of the local history reflected in the rooms. While it maintains the elements that qualify it on the National Register of Historic Places, the comforts and modern amenities blend in beautifully. We even had wedding photos taken on the beautiful curved staircase, front porch and back patio as it is such a picturesque setting.
Simon and Miranda are so friendly and welcoming and make the experience more memorable than any other BnB we have been to before. They really do go above and beyond as hosts! We were thrilled with the champagne and chocolates in the room, and the delicious homemade breakfast. We ate both inside where every detail was perfect (down to the fresh flower in the glass), and out on the patio where we were entertained by the antics of the resident cat in the distance. Of course- the true testimony to the stay- we can't wait to return for a future anniversary! Thanks Simon and Miranda for making our wedding weekend perfect!

My wife and I experienced a wonderful 3-day stay at this lovely historical home. The hosts, Miranda and Simon, are delightful, interesting and gracious. Despite its age, the inn provided us with much comfort and convenience. Our spacious room and it’s trappings were divine. The breakfast menu provided many delectable items and proved to be the culinary highlight of the day. The ideal location of the inn made access to many of the surrounding wineries, restaurants historical and nature sites a breeze. We look forward to returning in the near future.

This was the second time that my wife and I have stayed at The Black Sheep Inn and Spa. The entire property is absolutely stunning. It is such a relaxing atmosphere that you feel as though you have gone back in time. Our room was very clean, spacious and inviting. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom had all the necessities you need for your stay, including plenty of towels and washcloths. In the morning we went outside to the stone patio, where we had a great breakfast. Absolutely delicious!! You'd never know it was vegan. What can I say about the owners, Simon and Miranda. They are two of the nicest people you will ever meet. They make you feel so welcome, and attend to your every need. They are very knowledgeable of the area and so interesting to talk with. Also, there is a beautiful, quaint little brewery just a short walk from the Inn that we really enjoyed. We are planning on making The Black Sheep Inn an annual getaway. Thank you Simon and Miranda for a great time!
