Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stayed here mid October 2023. After a long flight from the UK into Auckland, we picked our hire car up and chose the Doubletree in Karaka for one night to unwind before embarking on a 3 week tour of NZ. We could not have chosen better. Located south of Auckland city and right on the SH1, it's the perfect location. The hotel is finished to a very high standard, our room was fantastic, the staff are friendly, the restaurant was great and checking in and out could not have been easier. Food was superb as well. Many thanks and if we ever make the journey to your incredible country again, we would stay here in an instant.

Hotel's Favourite
I reserved two rooms on points and arrived from AKL at 630am with my family of 4. I knew we were very early and had expected we wouldn’t be able to check in. We were greeted by Front desk manager Anna (sp?). She initially told us we could store our luggage and use the gym to change our clothes. After a few minutes m, she came back and said she was able to get two rooms for us to check into immediately. It was greatly appreciated. After that, check in was quick. My Diamond status was recognized and was offered free continental breakfast. We were given rooms 109 and 111 which are connecting. The rooms were well appointed and very stylish. Everything was modern from climate control to all the outlets available (including wireless charging areas on nightstands). Don’t worry if you don’t have an adapter here! The mattress is very comfortable, but I didn’t like the pillows. They made my neck hurt. Bath products are Crabtree and Evelyn and the water pressure is great. We did use room service one night and it was delivered within 30 minutes. The crispy Korean chicken was quite good. Breakfast in the restaurant is also good. $20 for continental and $30 for full. Standard options available. All the staff in the morning were friendly and welcoming. The location is about 25-30 mins from AKL, and south of CBD. It’s a good spot to base out of if you are exploring area south of Auckland. There are McDonalds, Pizza Hut, Sushi, and convenience store all across the street (5-10 min walk). This is not a place to stay if you are looking to explore CBD or are looking for a lot retail and food within walking distance. But for us, it was just fine. The entire property is new and there is a great modern style to it. All the staff were courteous and welcoming. I would stay here again and recommend it to others.

We had landed at Auckland airport, picked up our car and needed a hotel just out of town. This was a great selection for us, friendly greeting, not too busy and able to accommodate our two young grandsons who wanted to use the pool. Nothing was too much trouble, we later ordered room service as we’d had a long day, the selection was great. Breakfast the next morning’s was also impressive so we’d definitely stay there again when making this journey.

A nice new building with smiling staff is the best way to describe this hotel. It’s an upmarket motor side motel. The rooms are nice and spacious but unfortunately cheap beds and bedding make for a poor nights sleep. Noisy corridors and lack of complimentary bottled water is a major downside of this hotel, having to pay $10-$12 for water I think is a characteristic of a cheap motel and not what to expect from a Hilton.

Dear Lachlan, We are sorry your experience in our hotel was worth rating as average. We strive at delivering exceptional quality and experiences and take your feedback on board. Our beds are brand approved Hilton sleep systems and bedding is 100% Egyptian cotton. Please accept our apology if there was a disturbance in the corridors, they are usually extremely tranquil. Complimentary water is available to certain Hilton Honors loyalty tiers or made available for sale at a competitive price. Thank you for your feedback and we hope that you will allow us to serve you better on a future visit. Best Regards

Loved my stay here. Park-like surroundings, easy parking right outside, nice views from my room, comfy bed, great water pressure, excellent service, awesome bar and lots of little extras that made the stay special. Also lots of restaurants within walking distance. Will definitely stay again.

Room Tip: It's really close to the motorway but I never heard road noise once - not in the bar or in my room.

A new modern hotel, really good personal service made my short unplanned stay feel really good, Situated right by the motorway just over the Bombay hills this is a good place to stop out of the city which these days does little for us. Lots of parking is another tick

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this hotel. It's well located as it's close to the motorway and lots of car park. We had the view facing the beautiful trees with its well manicured loan. We forgot my jacket in the cabinet but the staff managed to return it to us by courier to our cost but the most important is the honesty.

Definitely recommend The Hilton. Beds were so comfortable and bathroom was ideal. Ate at the restaurant which was good and had rom service breakfast. Very quiet area and not far to walk to other cafes. Very clean and modern - definitely be back again next year.
