Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I’ve been here multiple times to eat and I’m just floored every time. From the food to the service to the gorgeous views. The food is always delicious and inventive, using all fresh produce, handmade pasta, and perfectly cooked meat. The servers are nothing short of lovely. Immediately greeted as soon as you walk in by the general manager, James or the lovely hostess. The server Daniel knows everything and anything about the menu, and always guides me with the best pairings for wine and food. This is a high recommend, and I will continue to dine here. If you’re looking for a private, romantic dine out this is the perfect place!

My wedding at The Garrison this August 2023 was a dream come true. From the day I met Annie R. I knew I was in good hands. She was so helpful and accommodating isn't the word. My husband and I are both vegan and it was very important to us to have all vegan food at our wedding. When I brought this up to Annie she actually seemed excited and was very encouraging in our decision. And the food ended up being incredible! The day of the wedding I didn't worry about a thing because I knew she was handling everything. The whole team at this venue is very professional and they all work together so well. My day of bridal assistant Fatima was also just amazing. She made sure I was drinking enough water all day, calmed me down when I was sobbing just before walking down the aisle, and best of all packed us a bag of dessert for us to take at the end of the night. My wedding party and guests were so impressed by the stunning the view, the friendly staff and the delicious food. Booking this venue will be the best decision you make for your wedding day and I feel so lucky to have done so myself.

Sunday afternoon. Teed off at half passed 4pm and was lucky to get all 18 in before dark. The foursome ahead of us were pretty slow (over 5 hours for round). There are some great views on these hills above the Hudson River, including views across to West Point. The course is in pretty good shape and there are some interesting holes. There are definitely some narrow holes with some challenging shot angles. There was no refreshment cart and I had forgotten to bring something with me. Even though I think the snack bar was open at the golf shop - it had already closed by the time we made the turn (to start the back 9).

Beautiful scenery of the hudson and West Point. I've been playing golf there for years and it never gets dull, always a challenge. The staff is great and the pro is very helpful. Don't miss an opportunity to play Garrison

I attended a wedding there last Autumn and personally I was very disappointed with the surly staff and the demonstrable lack of service.

I found the "resort" itself to be substandard and dealing with the staff to be an exceptionally miserable experience. In my opinion holding a wedding there was error the bride, groom and everyone in attendence will regret the rest of their lives...surely there must be a Motel 6 or homeless shelter nearby that could provide greater value for one's hard earned money?

While the natural surroundings are beautiful, the people who run the resort seemed to me to be unfamiliar with the concept of hospitality.

I'd recommend anyone to steer clear.

Brown water, but desk says don't worry, it's just the well! Water never cleared. Room smelled funky. No one is on duty at night. They have events often and it's very noisy as the rooms overlook the reception areas. Half used containers of hand cream left. We travel a lot and this is a poor place to stay.

recently attended a wedding here. the coctail hour food was awful. the entree was decent but the service was horrendous and the wedding coordinator or whatever was snide, rude and obnoxious. the place clearly just wants your money. i would stay far far away from this place. frankly, if you are even thinking of having your wedding there you have no idea how disappointed your guests will be.

the location is wonderful. cannot beat the hudson valley, but once the nigh falls, you can't see anything anyway and you realize you're stuck in the middle of nowhere with bad food, lousy drink selection and rude service.

just stay away.

Went to a wedding here last fall. The staff was was just plain awful. I cannot believe that this place hired such incomptent people. I must say the only good thing about this place was the views and that is it.
Take my advice; Do not book a wedding here, and do not go to a wedding that is here.

We traveled here with another couple as part of a road trip in the Hudson Valley and spent 4 nights, after being required to pay in full in advance. When you first arrive you drive through the beautiful golf course which overlooks the Hudson River. The building has a lot of glass giving you great views from all of the public rooms. Our room, 204, was very large with a beautiful bathroom. It had a king bed and was very comfortable with great bedding. The only negative on the room was that the closets were short and the drawer space minimal. The rooms as well at the whole facility were spotlessly clean. The room that our friends stayed in, 201, was much smaller with the same king bed which made the room feel very small. There were 2 weddings while we were there and we never heard noise from them. The golf course made a great place to walk in the morning so long as you watched out for golf carts and flying golf balls.

They have a restaurant and bar with good food, excellent wines and friendly service. We had good conversations with the bartenders on 2 nights.

There were some problems that should be addressed by management. They don't serve breakfast which we knew before booking. We were told that we could eat at the grill at the golf course. Well they don't serve much of a breakfast and did not open early enough to eat before a day of touring. The bartender suggested that everyone ate at the Shell station just down the road so we tried it. It was upscale gas station convenience store food which wasn't bad but not what we were looking for and not much of a place to sit and eat. After asking people at the desk and not getting much help we found a place online that was just 5 minutes away. The Garrison Cafe serves gourmet breakfasts with a french flair, someone should have known about this. Also, we found that on Monday the place was unmanned all day, the outside doors locked, except for one that our key opened, and the bar and restaurant were closed. It was spooky to say the least. Throughout our stay each time we asked about something we were told that "we are a small inn" as the reason that we could not be helped. Perhaps they should only rent rooms to people who are there for a wedding. They do not seem to be setup to serve the general public.
