Wildflower Farms, Auberge Resorts Collection, garners praise for its stylish ambiance, pristine cleanliness, and a range of amenities including a spa and pool. Guests appreciate the hotel's idyllic setting, conducive to outdoor activities, and the comfortable, well-designed rooms. However, some travelers feel the value is lacking, pointing to high costs not fully justified by the amenities and service, which, while generally excellent, has shown occasional inconsistencies. Additionally, while the cleanliness and atmosphere receive high marks, guests have noted areas for improvement, such as on-site dining options and in-room climate control.

W-O-W! I am still reeling from my weekend at Wildflower Farms. The setting is dreamlike, with gorgeous views of the Shawangunk Ridge. The property is thoughtfully designed with the main lodge facing the ridge, with an open seating area with fire pits and heat lamps so you can enjoy the setting any time of year. The interior design is unlike anything I’ve experienced at an Auberge hotel – every single detail was well thought out, and custom made to fit that space, while never losing sight of the natural setting and context.

We stayed the second week the hotel was open, and the service was impeccable, which is so refreshing in a post COVID era of limited amenities and services. Like the entire hotel, the restaurant CLAY is incredibly thought out in terms of design, menu, and wine selection. Most of the food was grown onsite or very nearby. And I can’t remember ever seeing such a variety of wines that were reasonably priced, and from interesting wine makers, not just the “big names”.

Our weekend was filled with hikes on the property, nights by the campfire, cocktails under headlamps overlooking the Shawangunk Ridge, morning classes at the gym and serenity at the spa.

Wildflower beats out any luxury accommodation I’ve visited in the area. And it should be considered as a destination for those who live outside of the NY area who are looking to experience the Hudson Valley at its best.

We stayed here for one night and overall felt it was very good but not worth the hefty price tag. It’s a pretty place and the rooms are well done. It’s great sitting by the big fire pit in the middle. It’s easy to get too. I tried to book a spa appointment one month prior to my arrival and they had nothing available which leads me to believe there are a shortage of workers at the spa. The restaurant is nice and some of the items are very delicious but I found the brunch menu to be very limited. The brunch menu is the same from 1030-230 on the weekends. They don’t even offer a salad or chicken on the menu which I found to be strange. I asked them for some berries or perhaps a side of avocado and they didn’t have any. The trails on property are ok but not very long in duration. I feel like they need more activities or more openings at the spa otherwise there is not much to do. I couldn’t stay here for more than one night due to lack of activities and one restaurant with limited food options. They look like they have a nice pool area when the weather gets warmer. I feel like the hotel is way over priced for what it is. I would’ve felt more comfortable paying 900-1000 per night not 1800. It was def a good experience but didn’t align with price

Spent 2 days and 2 nights at the end of October, a week after peak foliage but still serene and beautiful. Awesome view of the cliffs of the state park. The outdoor swimming pool (it’s heated!) was totally unused and awesome - 0 kids or anyone else for that matter, also had 2 jacuzzis to myself the whole time (best time to go is right before dinner / when spa shuts down at 6:30).

Went walking around the property (short flat walks pretty easy) - the woods are amazing by the river with all sorts of birds there so bring binoculars and be peaceful. Many folks had big dogs which was pretty fun, some had babies (maybe less fun).

The restaurant was crowded but the best place to sit is around the central fire at entrance - people come and go so plenty of spots. Food at Clay is great, albeit quite heavy. Service can be faster - way understaffed on a Sunday morning and $8 for a small cappuccino?!?

A lot of thoughtful choices: vent above shower to remove steam, bone broth in the indoor swimming pool (from Clay) for something warm and hearty (and salty) along with nuts/granola, binoculars/flashlight in the room, blankets and quilts in the room, etc. HVAC sucked though was confusing to determine if it was cooling or warming and they could improve some of the signage where rooms are (brown metal signs which can be hard to read).

This “resort” had numerous problem which began as you drove up. The entrance is difficult to see and poorly lit along the long driveway. As you pull up, the main focal point is a large parking lot which our room, restaurant, and lobby faced. The other view from our room was condenser units. The staff are poorly trained. They did not know nearby restaurants, running trails, or things to do. They were not friendly or helpful. The wine steward was dismissive and unpleasant. When asked for skim milk or almond milk for coffee, not available. The turn down for the first night of three provided a used yoga pad for breathing exercises that was not a gift to take home. There were no glasses to brush our teeth, no bottled water, only tap water or any closets in the cabins.
When I went to look at the hot tub at 9 am, there were underwear, dirty clothes, empty bottles etc. which was unappealing. The grounds are unfinished. The room had many glitches including a back door that was difficult to lock, front locked door that got stuck for a friend. The room was dark and lighting uneven.
I realize the property is new. However, it is off-season and for close to $1000 a night offseason, I expected quite a different experience. It was unacceptable and highly recommend anywhere else.

Amazing three night stay with the family. Service was exceptional from start to finish. Front desk staff are attentive, friendly & very helpful. Valet staff very helpful & quick to offer rides to our cabin. I’m really surprised at all the negative comments about service, we didn’t have any issues. The manager was on site a considerable amount of time overseeing the front of the hotel. Food @ Clay was amazing. My husband who is vegetarian enjoyed all of his meals & had plenty of options. The cabin was very comfortable, cozy & well appointed. We did notice a couple of flies in the room & a cob web in the corner when we checked it but it was taken care of immediately. Overall, a great stay & will go back.

We were excited to stay at the Wildflower given all the hype around the hotel, however, from start to finish we felt our stay was overwhelming especially for the price we stayed per night. It is obvious that the hotel is a WIP and needs to work out a bunch of kinks to make this truly a 5 star hotel. The rooms and interiors around the hotel were the only memorable things to note. Other than that, this hotel needs major work. The spa treatment my husband and I both booked was not enjoyable - both masseuses seemed inexperienced. The food at the restaurant was very limited and pricing was ambitious - $5 for a slice of overdone sourdough toast? The only delicious thing we had for breakfast was the cinnamon roll. We also decided to have breakfast in our room on our last morning and they completely forgot a dish, but insisted it was in the basket. Unlikely we will return or recommend to others. For the price you pay it unfortunately isn't worth it and misses all the marks.

The property is stunning and the resort has a lot of potential. The spa and pools are beautiful, the restaurant and bar are very nice, and the patio area with the fire was a great place to relax on a chilly fall day. The classes we took were really fun. However, from check in to check out the service was lacking. The staff seem confused all the time, they were frequently out of products and items in the store, the food and drink service was incredibly slow. To the point that we almost got up and just went back to our rooms, TWICE. Room service took an hour and a half and they didn’t give us any utensils. We made two spa appointments that we got confirmations for and one was missing from their schedule and the spa staff said it was basically not their problem and we were still charged. We went to breakfast at 8:40 and had a class booked at 10:00. At 9:50 we still hadn’t received juice or scrambled eggs and we ended up having to leave, again we were still charged for breakfast. Lastly, we got a call at 10:45 the morning of check out to see if we needed assistance with bags. We said yes and were told someone would be by in 15-20 min and bring the car out front. We got a knock 2 minutes later and weren’t even dressed and they said they couldn’t wait so we scrambled to finish packing, get dressed and run out the door. The cart driver said they were too busy to bring the car around so they dropped us off at our vehicle in the pouring rain and left all our luggage on the ground. Overall, it seems the resort is in need of better management and staff training. For $1600 a night you would expect a unique and seamless experience.

Having been to an Auberge resort before, I was excited to see one open in the Hudson Valley. Simply one of the most underwhelming, disappointing stays I've ever had. Thistle Spa was the single highlight of resort. We had amazing treatments and excellent customer service. Sadly, the same cannot be said of either the restaurant, Clay, nor Wildflower Farms.

Clay: We ate here two nights. The first night the food was excellent, and the service was very good. The second night (Friday, much busier) the food was good and the service was atrocious. We had to ask the manager (?) to take over for our overwhelmed waitress. A lot of fake smiles and cheeriness was offered, I guess to make up for the fact that we had such poor service.

Wildflower Farms: Ugh, where to begin. I guess with the most egregious. Failing to plug in my electric vehicle, after them INSISTING that they park the car when we arrived. I was very clear in asking that they make sure to plug in the EV so I had enough charge on the battery to get home, only to find upon leaving that they had NEVER PLUGGED IT IN, and that I indeed did NOT have enough battery to get home. Lots of last minute scrounging to change train tickets for my friend, find en route charging stations, etc. led us to leave Wildflower Farms more stressed than when we had arrived at was intended to be a relaxing weekend getaway. This level of inattentiveness was a thread through our stay. Especially the housekeeping services which were abominable. There is clearly no "checklist" of standards, or they are not holding their housekeeping staff to any standards at all. The problems were too numerous to list here. Suffice it to say that it was far below any standards that I have ever experienced in any kind of hotel. I am not kidding, sadly, one bit. I'd never experienced the problems with housekeeping like this before. Dirty towels left on our front porch. The lid to the bathroom trashcan left on the open toilet seat. Dirty coffee cups left in the room (2 days running). And many other smaller but just noticeable failures, when piled on one one another become untenable.

I made reservations here in August when I saw they were opening, having been to an Auberge resort before but not having had the benefit of any reviews of recent stays. If you don't have reservations and are considering a stay here, think again. Wildflower Farms is clearly not ready for primetime, at the rates they are charging. Thistle Spa IS ready for primetime however, and if you're looking for a great spa treatment and are in the New Paltz area, make sure to give it a go!

Nice property - there are some short hikes but not a lot to do in the winter besides spa and relaxing. There was a terrible smell like cesspool when you walked around near certain cabins (but no smell in cabin). Restaurant was good but service spotty - for examples party of 4 - every appetizer came out at a very different time. Food was good but for an $800 dollar dinner (with a few classes of wine) I would expect much more. Breakfast food was also good but for a $26 dollar order of eggs you would think toast would be included. I will say our rate included breakfast and they did not nickel and dime us at all with the little things but if I was paying some of the extras seem silly. The rooms are really beautiful and I am sure the things will get better as they work out the details.

We dinned in Clay and though the prices are a bit high, we had wonderful attentive service, not always the case in this area of ulster. We used the spa and facilities, we hung out with friends at the fire pit. The grounds are beautiful and maintain the elegance of the area, the open atmosphere is inviting and relaxing. A wonderful get away from NYC. Every person we have dealt with on the property has been extremely kind. Melana (not sure of spelling) @ clay is one of the happiest kindest people and always makes sure our meal is wonderful. Ben was our server and he was also very attentive. If I had any word of advice I would say a little more generosity with the wine pour would be great :) . Also, a few more medium price point items on the menu might be beneficial. There is so much to do in the area, and having Wildflower available is a great addition to Gardiner/New Paltz area.
