Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We really enjoyed our stay at this little inn. It was very reasonably priced and in a nice, quiet location. The owner was very sweet and you could tell it was a family run place. The room was very clean and had everything we needed (fridge, coffee pot, tv, microwave, etc.) For the price you couldn't ask for a better place and it was great to support a small business that was locally owned. We are looking forward to staying here again in the future!

I stayed at this little gem last year and I'm going back for an annual family visit. Last time I arrived and met the owner, Kim, a friendly woman. My room was clean and cool. She gave me everything I could have wanted including a warm pack for my neck which was sore from a long plane ride from California. Her cat visited me out on my porch which made me feel at home. I even left and came back because I scheduled a couple of nights at a "fancy" B&B. I was unhappy and I texted Kim the following morning. She said to come on back to my home away from home!

The Cohocton Valley Inn is...how should I say this...retro. Yes, very retro, but in a good way. I found the Inn to be clean, comfortable, quiet, and well priced. It is close to lots of activities, such as wineries, craft breweries, state parks, lakes, Amish baked good and crafts. The owner, Kim, is a very nice person and wants to make your stay as nice as possible. She is very much a people person and treats you like an honored guest. The room came with two beds and a hideaway bed in the sofa. There was a refrigerator, microwave oven, and a coffee maker. In the winter, the room is heated, but in the summer there are only fans to cool the room. Look, this is Western New York state and the temperature during the day struggles to reach the 80's during the hottest summer days and dips into the 50's during the summer nights. I found the room with quite comfortable with just the fan. As far as places to get food, there is a grocery store that makes outstanding subs and pizza and anything else your heart desires just 600 feet from the Inn. This place is not a Hilton. There is nothing fancy about it. It is as described and is run by an honest lady who just wants you to give it a chance. I know I will return.

My husband and I stayed here based on the positive reviews. We had a wedding to attend in a nearby town. The owner is very kind and went out of her to fulfill our requests. The room was cramped and the bathroom tiny. The towels are small, rough and worn out. The towel bars are rusted. The shower had mildew and the se t in wall for the tub area was lifting from the wall itself. Old furniture and old carpeting. Overall the room looked clean but oh we could never stay here sgain.

If you are looking for fancy accommodation this is not the place for you. However if you like to travel on a budget, stay in clean rooms with the basic necessities then give this place a try.
We stayed here just one night on our way back from a U. S. road trip and found this to be one of the best values in this lovely area.
The lady who owns and runs the inn is very accommodating and welcoming. Her knowledge of the area and advice on places to visit and eat is impressive.
We stayed in room 4 a small cottage type room . We had a great nights sleep and the area is quiet.
Our room held two double beds. Sofa, TV, Microwave, Fridge. Coffee maker and coffee. Free Internet was also available and I found it to be fast. There is no A?C but the fan was good enough and the windows are screened and the breeze kept the room comfortable.
A few minutes up the road on the main st { five Min} is a Grocery store{Careys} Food is available for take out and they have a extensive Menu Another eating place is about three miles away on the river{ a restaurant called the Chatterbox. } We wandered around the tiny village and right by the river five minutes away we enjoyed a lovely Ice cream. Fast food is available there in season.
Nearby Hammondsport is a lively town { Prices are high for accommodation} but they have some great places to eat. State parks are nearby and are free to enter after 6pm. We intend to return here next month for a longer stay and explore and enjoy the area. We ate breakfast at Rubys “ Chatterbox and the pancakes are super. { half a mile North of town}

I am back for my annual family visit from California. I have returned year after year to Cohocton Valley Inn. The owner, Kim, has become someone I look forward to seeing. Watching her son grow is great too. He is a nice young boy and helps me feel at at ease. I enjoy the outdoor kitties. This is my home away from home.
Each visit, Kim has kept my room spotless, very comfortable and we'll stocked. She comes by and checks on me but is always on the go keeping the place up. As a woman traveling alone, this is the place I feel most safe. We are in a tiny town with a small grocery store in walking distance. There is a gas grill to cook on. The basketball court is fun for a bit of exercise and Loon Lake is just 3 miles away.
I visit Hornell while I'm here and there are plenty of places to stay there but I make the 20 minute drive to Cohocton. It is worth the short distance to enjoy the hospitality, the quiet and the beautiful surroundings. I'll be back!

We stayed here as a CMA motorcycle group. Rented the whole place! Kim is SUPER! She worked with us throughout everything and made sure we didn't want for anything the whole weekend. She's amazing. It may have been mentioned before me, if you're used to staying at the Holiday Inn with a heated pool then keep looking. CVI is a nice little place, in need of fix-ups (Kim & crew are doing their best), in a small town (1 restaurant, 1 gas station, 1 store), but within easy distance of everything Finger Lakes has to offer. And don't forget the value! We looked as several places to stay and this place beat them all by a country mile. We wish Kim the best and look forward to visiting again.

I enjoyed my stay here a lot. The room itself is very clean and cozy. I do feel like I was staying in a friend's. The environment is also nice. Nice and safe little town and nice tenants. Conveniently located close to many gorgeous NY State Parks.

The Inn owner Kim is so considerate! The two beds and the pillows in the room are in different firmness, so I can choose whichever I like! When she tried to answer one of my questions, she texted me instead of calling me because she know I was driving and really cared about my safety. She knows a lot about the nice places around the area.

I would definitely stay in the Inn again if I go to Finger Lakes region in the future.

This inn is basic, and the town of Cohocton is quite small, so not for everyone. We had a GREAT experience. The beds are extremely comfortable, and the rooms are incredibly clean. The owner is unbelievably friendly and helpful. She works hard and will bend over backwards to make sure you have what you need. There is lots to do within an easy drive. This is by far the best hotel deal I've ever experienced. The value per dollar is unbeatable.

We stayed here last summer for a week and again this summer for a week. Kim is a great host and helps with anything you need. It's a small quiet town. We enjoyed hanging out in the evenings in the gazebo and grilling out on the dual propane/charcoal grill that is provided. The grocery store down the street is our go to place for sandwiches and other to go lunches. They make the best homemade sausages. The kids walked to the ice cream stand every evening. It's a great jump off point for state parks and the surrounding museums and then come back for a relaxing evening outdoors. The rooms are very clean and comfortable with refrigerators and microwaves. Daily cleaning and towel changes are a plus. It's hard to find this kind of atmosphere now a days. We will definitely return!
