The hotel beat my expectations. When I arrived the staff warmly greeted me and from then on remembered my name, saying hi and making sure my needs were fulfilled. Every detail of the hotel was so thoughtfully curated from the mini-flashlight you get for night-walks to the massive sliding windows in the room with screens and blackout curtains to the insanely comfortable bed and perfect water pressure.
While I was totally enamored by the rooms themselves, I loved hanging out on the patio of the main house and watching the sunset. I also am a sucker for a pool and spa moment and on weekends they have free yoga (best yoga I've done in ages). You can tell everything they do is very respectful to the land they are on and the community they are in. And I doubt you'll ever want to leave but nearby towns like Hudson have some amazing restaurants, shops, and bars to check out.
While I was at Piaule I was already planning my next trip to visit. Would highly recommend this modern nature oasis to anyone visiting but especially people in the city looking for a nice getaway.

We were so hopeful and excited by the opening of this hotel, mostly by its well curated images on Instagram.
Sadly, it does not meet expectations (set by price and marketing) and especially for the price.
All of its media platforms only showcase the rooms and their forrest views but be aware only the lower cabins see forrest. All upper rooms have views of other cabins and gravel pathways and parking lots. At night, those cabins’ blinding doorway lights will disrupt the peace you were hoping for.
There’s a black out blind but that defeats the purpose of enjoying the natural night light. perhaps they should have automatic door way lights so as not to blind other guests.
The website boost strategically placed cabins for privacy but our balcony is surrounded by 9 other cabins and our window view is exposed to four other cabins below. Based on how close the cabins are. There’s no privacy.
The spa is beautiful. The cedar all around is lovely also. Is it $700/night gorgeous? No.
All the marketing for the hotel conjures a sanctuary of calm and abundance of space, nature, an understanding of thoughtful design and luxury living. It just does not translate in real life sadly.
I wish they had spent less money on branded products and directed that to create a better experience.
To market as a luxury product, it is not. What hotel at this price point doesn’t think to offer creamer/milk with their in room coffee. Even when we called front desk, it was not offered.
Most Airbnb that I have stayed at, have these basic details for their guests.
Attention to detail is only paid aesthetically, not as an integral part of the hotels philosophy (service, experience).

We were incredibly excited for a relaxing mom's weekend getaway. After reading some of the lukewarm reviews, we did get a little nervous but tried to keep our expectations lows. We arrived right at check out at 4pm. Checkout was in the main building on the left of the parking lot. It has an incredible view of the mountains and the lower level is the spa. According to the instructions we received via email, it said to leave our luggage in our car for someone to have delivered to our room. However, after the front desk gave us our room keys she just told us we can take our bags to our room. We didn't question it, but later did see some of the other guests receive assistance with golf carts. Our room was 23, which had a decent view, but you can also see the other units below. I can see why if you were in the units behind, you would be annoyed. The lodging is definitely the minimalist concept. The full window wall is pretty nice and you have a small private deck to enjoy nature. After getting settled, we decided to go check out the spa, but it was torrential downpour outside. We looked everywhere for an umbrella and couldn't find one in our $900 lodge. We called the front desk to see if they had one and they did not. She did not offer any other alternatives like sending a golf cart. We ended up running to the spa and getting soaked, which wasn't terrible since we had the spa to warm us up, but we did notice other guests being assisted with their bags with golf carts which we requested after spa back to our room. I don't understand why they never offered this in the first place, and we had to ask. The next morning we headed up for our breakfast which was included with our stay. Breakfast was pretty much just yogurt with granola and some fruit which was pretty disappointing. No one provided any help and when we asked if there were any other options, we were told hot items were not available today due to preparations for a private event for the evening. I don't understand why there couldn't have been some other options provided to the guests, and why we seem to be getting the short end of the stick due to a private event. Maybe because this place is still relatively new, but wish there were some additional amenities offered. There was what looked like a fire pit, which was not used during our stay. There was a fire place in the lobby, which they never turned on either. Overall, I have to say, with the amount of money we paid for our room was disappointing.

NOT ZEN The hotel is beautifully designed and crafted. The buildings sit perfectly on the property and optimize the view. That said, I experienced a few issues that I believe are worth mentioning for future travelers. The hotel is not only known for design but the amazing restaurant. It is a remote location and you really don't want to be driving in and out of Hudson or Catskill for meals. The idea here is to stay on property and be zen. The restaurant was closed for lunch and dinner the day of my stay which was an incredible inconvenience - I should've been alerted prior to my arrival so that I could've made a decision while not on property. Apparently, there were two groups that had events in the hotel prior to my stay, which prompted them to close the restaurant. Why should that have an impact on other guests? I did call while on the way, but was given some foggy information on the subject. The manager (by the way, never came out to greet me or apologize, but left his reception manager to do the deed ) offered me 20% off my room rate which I thought was somewhat laughable and after pushback I finally got 50% off which I thought was fair but I should not have had to haggle. The lady from Long Island at the front desk was an absolute dream and did her best to make the situation better. The hotel was more than half empty. I was assured that there was to be cocktails and nibbles btwn 5-9. After conducting a search party, I finally found Walter the bartender who was a great guy and friendly and made a good cocktail but... and no nibbles laid out. Meanwhile, my friend and I were the only two people on the patio. I will say the next day my lunch was great and served by a friendly staff. Too bad I hadn't had the opportunity to engage with them the full day prior. The spa opens at 9 AM however at 10:15 there were still no towels. What? Lots of apologies for lack of service and amenities. Don't apologize - fix it! As much as I love the cabin, I do think that a bedside lamp would be very helpful and safer than just the motion censored lights especially in the middle of the night on the way to the bathroom. Additionally, the paths to the cabins are a bit dark at night and might even be considered unsafe. I had to use my phone flashlight to make it back to my cabin safely. Definitely some issues with staffing, communication, and management. I would love to recommend this property as it is a marvel of design but I I really encourage you to call and question what's happening at the property before you arrive. Until they have fixed these issues you might want to consider one of the other fantastic properties in the Hudson Valley area. Some work to be done at Piaule. And it all starts at the top!

I am only giving this property 3 stars because they just opened and have the opportunity to adjust pricing and make changes to the experience. Let’s start with the positives.
The hotel is in a very pretty setting and the design is great. They did a very good job with the common areas and spa. The room design is pretty and functional and the service was good (most of the time).
However, there are some big negatives. I truly think the hotel is 20% overpriced at the current offering. If they wanted to charge $495 per night for their base room, they would have to add more to the experience: a pool (not just the small cold pool in the spa), included breakfast and coffee or afternoon drinks, and building out the activities on the property.
Also, half of the rooms at the hotel look out to a wide rocky parking lot with no privacy, not the advertised tree view (see pictures below). I initially was placed in this room and complained, and they did end up placing us in the lower rooms facing the forest which was a very pretty view and setting.
So if you really want to go and are okay overpaying for a largely good experience, you should DEFINITELY request the lower level rooms with views of the forest!

We had the absolute best time at Piaule. Can you say relax! From the moment you drive up to the property, you just breathe a sigh of relief. You are there, at one with nature. Your “cabin” is set in a lovely range of trees & nature. The cabin itself is so very comfortable, from the soft robes to the amazingly comfortable bed. The bonus is the spa with the amazing warm pool that overlooks the beautiful forest. Mmmmmmmmm. 😊.

My whole experience at Piaule was amazing.
From the rooms, to the dinner, to the spa everything had a purpose and it served us well. At first I was like wait no TV!? But then you realize it’s not necessary at all. If you book all your spa activities prior to your arrival your day will be filled with things to do that are way better than watching TV.
I travel a lot for my work and I always pack sheets with me but this time around I decided not to and thank god because it was not needed. The sheets are a cloud of heaven and a really nice touch to the beautiful room.
I can’t wait to go back and spend a little more time there. Whether you’re taking a dip in the hot plunge pool or having a silk iced coffee in the main cabin, it’s going to be a good time.
Sidebar - Just spend the money on that 4 course dinner because you will not regret it!!

We stayed at Piaule on a couples trip with our dog in the fall. We loved the modern and minimalist design, and had a gorgeous room with lots of space that looked out over the trees. We brought our dog with us and found the property to be very dog friendly.
As others have noted, it’s a remote location, which is great for feeling like you’re truly able to relax and get away, but it does have its challenges with regards to food. The nearest restaurants are at least a 20 minute drive, and the nearest good restaurants much more than that. We appreciated the included breakfast, but dinner was not being served on property on the weeknights that we stayed, so we did have to venture farther afield—I would recommend they ramp up their dinner service to seven nights per week.
Their staff was friendly but stayed in the main lobby, so it was easy to feel largely left to your own devices, which may or may not be your preference when it comes to a luxury property. We did enjoy the spa and pools and they were happily not very crowded.

I'm not sure which is more fantastic; the staff, the rooms or the hotel grounds. The staff greeted us and immediately remembered our names and likes/dislikes. The rooms are simple and ZEN. The beds and linens are so comfortable it was difficult to get out of bed in the morning. The communal lobby area was cozy and inviting. The yoga room and spa area looks out in to the beautiful forest where we frequently saw deer cruising by to say hello. All around, the hotel and staff was AMAZING and we will be back! Thank you Piaule for a wonderful weekend.

Recently stayed for a romantic weekend out of the city. Overall was very disappointed with the experience, especially considering the price. Firstly, the overall service quality at the hotel was awful. When we arrived we were coldy greeted by a request for a vaccination card. No welcome or sense for hospitality. When we visited the bar we had to go to the bar to order ourselves. Again, service was generally rude and abrasive... The hotel itself is nice(ish). Extremely basic and literally nothing there. The cabins haven't been landscaped in at all and have zero privacy. The hotel itself is a restaurant, that looks like a school canteen and a spa below. That's it. Grounds are unkept and lack anything to do. Location is so so. Long drive to nearest town and Catskill nearby is pretty bleak meaning you'll have 30-40mins to Woodstock or Kingston. SPA was average. Steam machine barely worked and the pool and hot tub were both freezing.
Overall the hotel could be nice but has been poorly executed with little effort put into the customer experience. Its the kind of Brooklyn chic experience where you have to be grateful for coming rather than a valued guest.
For the money I'd look elsewhere. Scribners or Hutton Brickyard are FAR better and deliver more value for money
