the rooms are very clean and the beds comfy. The bathroom is kept very clean and didn't have to wait to use it. Janell in the office is very helpful and pleasant. Typical Bronx neighborhood a little rough but safe. Subways only a few blocks away take you to city. If you are looking for a clean and Inexpensive hostel this will work.

This place is fantastic! It's such good value. Sure the bathrooms are shared and the sheets weren't the best quality but everything is very new and fresh. We had a beautiful room at the front with bay windows looking through the trees. We never had to wait for a shared bathroom. Janell was very accomodating. Even though we arrived at the very end of her shift she took time to point out local restaurants and give us clear directions. If only we'd booked in for all our nights in New York. The subway trip into Manhattan was easy and quick.

This guesthouse is 5 minutes walk from the metro and we easily find able to find a place to park the car on the street. The room is clean and the mattress confortable. The staff is also very helpful. The only thing is that you share a bathroom with 4 other rooms so you have to wait "in line" to take a shower.

I booked a room in the Morris Guest House based on the photos of the rooms and the number of positive reviews I read. The reality of the place made me wonder how many of the reviews I saw on various hotel booking sites are fake.

I arrived very tired after a long day of travel and the first thing I saw was a large rat running down the front stairs. When I called the phone number provided in order to get the code to open the front door, the anonymous voice on the phone became irritated when I didn't enter the code correctly the first time.

When I got into my room it looked nothing like the photos you see in the listings. It was very grim and shabby, and there were no covers on the bed, just a sheet.
There was no staff on the premises - not a single person who might have been able to give me a blanket or answer any questions.

In the listings it mentions "shared bathrooms" - and I was fine with that, until I discovered that the bathroom was just a toilet, making it impossible to take a shower during my stay there.

I wasn't expecting anything fancy, but based on the photos, I was expecting a bright, cheerful place. What I experienced felt like a really creepy, shabby welfare hotel. The last straw was noticing that the peephole in the door of my room was stuffed with a wad of toilet paper that had a brown smear on it.

I regret that I didn't take a photo of my room, but I did take a photo of the view out my window, which I'm providing.

I made a HUGE mistake in booking the room for 6 nights. I was so disturbed by the place I immediately called and said I couldn't stay there and needed a refund. I was willing to pay for one night but needed a refund for the other 5 nights. The voice on the phone told me that was impossible - that it was nonrefundable.

The whole experience was a very depressing waste of money.

I came to this establishment to visit a cousin of mines that was in town on October 2nd, 2022. We were walking up the steps about to go into the room and the manager, Tony, abruptly ran up on us and told us that there are no visitors in the room. Then he said that there is only 1 visitor allowed and he told us this is not a “whorehouse”. I am appalled at the audacity of this man that holds a position of power here at the Morris Guest House. Do the owners approve of management spewing these accusations at new customers? He disposition was very racist, as he stood there looking down at us with knock off Louis Vuitton. Your establishment is not as bad as I thought it would be except for the commmunity bathroom. His disposition will definitely affect your business, without a doubt.

My flight was canceled due to weather. I decided I couldn’t stay on the floor of the airport. I booked the first hotel I found. I travelled 3 hours by subway to the hotel. There was no hotel. There is no real address. It is in a neighborhood on Morris Ave in the Bronx. There are all tenement style houses. I think I found it. It had a lock box by the door. I called for the code. Left a message. No reply. The street is piled with garbage and there are rats running around the garbage. The neighbor is very seedy. I was accosted by beggars and crack people. I decided it would be safer to leave than sleep on the doorsteps. I call Morris Guest House after 9am that morning. The manager said he tried to call me several times however, he had the wrong number. I didn’t give my phone number to Super.com, so any phone number he would have had would be from caller ID on the phone message which was my phone. My phone showed no incoming calls from Morris Guest House. He refused to refund my stay and stuck to the phone story. Super.com was no help either. They said they can only refund if the Morris Guest House approves it. I can’t tell you about inside of the Morris Guest house. I never got to see it. You may notice there are no photos of the outside of the house on their website. I would look at the reviews to see the what the outside looks like. What hotel does not give their address? My advice. Do not book or go to Morris Guest house!

When I booked this room I was a little skeptical. After signing in to get the key to my room, I was relieved to find it was very decent. The room was very clean and neat. I was actually looking forward to a good nights rest. Unfortunately after I left out and later returned, there was no parking whatsoever. I drove around for a whole hour only to find myself back in front of the Morris guest house in a restricted parking space. I am still sitting in a no parking zone. I am so exhausted! I'm sure the stay would be comfortable if only i could
Find parking and get in. To bad it looks like that won't be happening. It is now 3:55 am. So as I sit in my car with my bags upstairs all I can think about is how comfortable that bed looked. (SMH) I gave this place a poor rating because the whole parking situation ruined what could have been a pleasant experience. If you plan on driving your own vehicle this is not a good place to stay, but If you plan on cabbing it, or using public transportation this might be a good choice.

I'll be honest. Given the price and location, I was pretty sure I was taking a gamble. But I couldn't have been more pleasantly surprised. The Morris Guest House is clean, comfortable and secure. Each floor has a shared kitchen. Showers are hot with good pressure. The beds are just right, and our room was bigger than I could ever have dreamed it would be. Oh, and the check-in girl is the friendliest--and most helpful--person I've ever met.

In short, this is one of the nicest places I've ever stayed in New York. Is it the most convenient? No--but that's the trade-off. If you have to be right in the thick of things and able to walk out your door to a show or fine dining, this place isn't for you. But if you can handle a moderate subway ride into Manhattan (and note that the transit station IS quite convenient), aren't opposed to sharing a bathroom with a few fellow travelers and would like to save HUNDREDS of dollars, the Morris Guest House could be just the ticket.

I should add that their customer service is awesome. My travel plans changed only weeks before my check-in date and they worked with me and the booking agent to adjust my reservation accordingly.

This may be the only place I ever stay in New York from here on. Can't say enough.

When we arrived yes staff was friendly but she was confused about the rates
She tried to over charge us at first and she corrected her mistake so we stayed but
When we checked out they booked us a room for an entire week which was ridiculous
Be careful while using your creditcard or debit card they stole hundreds of dollars
