I stayed over one night at the Days Inn Bronx for the Pinstripe Bowl last weekend. The person checking us in was professional yet flustered due to the sold out status of the hotel; however, there were no issues with the check in process, and we were able to get into our room earlier than the standard check in time of 3 PM. We were able to preview the room prior to its cleaning as we wanted to drop off our bags and start the bowl festivities. The room was completely trashed by the previous travelers; however, when we returned later that evening the room was extremely clean. The cleaning staff additionally informed us that they swapped out the comforter, which was appreciated. Bathroom facilities were basic yet clean and useable. I can only speak for the room and check in process as I didn't have any of the continental breakfast. I additionally don't want to discuss the safety of the area as tolerance for that is relative to the person's experiences, but check in was seamless and the room was clean. If all you need is a place to stay at a reasonable price, this is it.

We went to New York during Spring Break and we decided to stay in separate hotels depending on where our attractions were. We stayed in Bronx for the first night and we got the Days Inn for $53 off a Priceline bid. The price was originally $120 but Priceline has a best deal or your money back offering if you can find a lower price available to the general public and we saw a lower price on Priceline's website and Priceline dropped the price $67 so the final price was $53. The location of the hotel is excellent, it is close to everything, Manhattan is just five miles away, it is right next to Yankee Stadium and the Bronx Zoo is just a few minutes from the area. The room was in good condition and was clean and very comfortable, there were some minor problems however. There were paint stains on the wall right next to the door and the thread on one of the beds was unraveling. There is also a strong smell of smoke on the third floor and in the elevators, but we had a non-smoking room and there was no smell and it worked out fine. Overall, it is a great place to stay if you want a good location at a cheap price.

At $175 a night it seemed reasonable and within walking distance of Yankee Stadium and train links. What we did not expect was to arrive with no room allocated and to have to follow the receptionist around the hotel, while he opened doors at random (disturbing guests) looking for an empty room. Once we were given a room, we found it dirty and stained, with fixtures and fittings looking like they'd been used in a cluedo crime scene, all that was missing was the chalk outline in the stained carpet. The safe was damaged beyond use and the bathroom smelt like foisted water. Our shock grew on entering the basement floor to obtain ice and drinks from the machine available, the a heady nauseous wave of marijuana hit us immediately along with the nightclub level of music (to accompany us throughout the night) I witnessed a complete open drug transaction between a male and a couple who knocked on his door and left after completing the sale. Safe to say we retired to our room and left in an expedited fashion early the next morning. We would never return, I would rather sleep in the disposed shopping trolleys across the road with the homeless, they looked like they had a better nights sleep.

I'm not sure what year the people with good reviews stayed here, but March2012 I stayed here and it was awful, the room I was assigned had chicken crumbs in after I saw the people with the chicken check out, had blood spots in the BLANKET AND SHEETS, rust and blood spots. the bathroom was disgusting, they had no clean washcloths or towles, when i asked for new ones they were no better. when I asked for a new room I had the same problem, dental floss sticks were found in a suppose to be clean bed, it was made up under the sheets, burn marks in the sheets, bathroom again was just nasty. housekeeping was unmarked, pubic hair was stuck in the washcloth, and in the bed. myself and my partner slept in or clothes cause we were afraid to sleep on the bare sheets went to get ice machine the ice bucket was nasty. brown spots all over it.... It remind me of a motel 6, but motel 6 might have been better in this case.... people just walking in and out, late night traffic like 4am people checking out and in.... this was the worst hotel experience. this room cost me 300.00 dollars for me to have to purchase my own towles and washcloths, listen to people have sex, afraid to sleep on the sheets etc..... I'm not usually the one who post comments i leave that for my partner but my trip was started off on the wrong NOTE!!!!!

The hotel, staff, cleanliness, and rooms were all excellent. Chose this hotel as a cheaper option while visiting NYC. The closest subway was at the corner next to Yankee Stadium, so we used a cab most times to get there...especially at night. The walk isn't terrible during the day, but seems a little iffy at night. So we chose to be safe. And after spending all day walking around the city, we were tired! The front desk staff was very friendly and offered to call a cab for us every time. While it is a little out of the way for where we were visiting, for the value and overall experience here, we would probably stay again.

We stayed one night at the Days Inn Yankee Stadium during a recent trip to NYC. It was not at all what we expected. We arrived by subway at 10:30 Friday evening. We were under the impression the hotel was only a few blocks away. Because of the late hour we called the hotel to get directions. The neighborhood is not great so we didn't want to be out wandering around. The person who answered the phone didn't speak great English so the conversation ended with me thinking all we had to do was walk to River Avenue, turn right and we'd see the hotel. That wasn't quite the case. We turned right, walked to the top of the hill...no Days Inn. We went into a little deli and asked where the hotel was....nobody seemed to know what we were talking about. We started to get nervous and the guy at the deli called us a cab...the cabs are unmarked. Thankfully I had seen this in another review so it didn't make me nervous. We got in and told the driver where we were going...he still didn't seem quite sure so we told him it was relatively new and then he figured it out. He dropped us off and we went in. The front desk clerk is behind a glass wall. You have to drop your credit card and ID in a little slot like I've seen at sports arenas. We finally got to our room which was ok. It was relatively new so that was good. The towels were awful and they had a little sign stating because of the popularity they are now for sale. What a joke! A nice way to ask people not to steal them but who would want to. They had HBO which was good so we watched part of a movie and fell asleep. Couldn't wait to get out the next morning. They had a reasonable continental breakfast so we ate and went upstairs to checkout. The best part was when we asked if we could leave our bags until after the game. They said they didn't have a place to keep them behind the desk but we could leave them on the floor in the lobby next to a camera! We just laughed and left. What a joke. I would not recommend this hotel mostly because of the location and extreme lack of basic amenities.

So first off, the reason we booked this hotel was its proximity to Yankee stadium. in the regard the hotel was great less than a mile away and only 3 turns to get to the stadium. That's about the only good thing I can say about our experience there. The first room they booked us was obviously a smoking room from the smell and burns on the carpet, but worse than that, the AC didn't work. I had to call the front desk multiple times and wait over an hour before they decided to move us to another room. Once we got keys to the other room we went their and the keys didn't open the door and I heard the TV on, they moved us to a room that was already booked. Once again we go back to the front desk and they say for all the trouble we are going to move you into the best room in the hotel, a suite. GREAT we thought, This ended up being another hassle as the next day I get a call while we are out in the city telling me I need to switch rooms AGAIN because the room we are in was booked for that night. so we have to go back to the hotel early so we can get our stuff together and move to yet another room, and what makes this even more egregious is the gentleman that gave us the suite told his boss and co-workers that he told us we would have to move again, which was a lie because if I had known we were going to have to move again I would have let him give us a regular room. The hotel was itself was perfectly acceptable, but the staff was completely unacceptable, the service we received was horrible

This hotel was horrible, there were people smoking weed with their room doors open and music turned up. The couple of people that worked at the front counter were very rude and the beds were like sleeping on concrete. I WILL NEVER GO ANYWHERE NEAR THERE AGAIN!!

It's a 15-20 minute walk. Walking to the subway during daytime isn't a bad idea but at night I'd recommend taking a taxi from subway station to hotel as the area felt unsafe to us. Taxi shouldnt cost you more than $7.00-$10.00
Shelby S asked a question May 2015

How was the walk from the subway? How long? Was it safe?
Answer from Jason M

It's about a mile walk and took us about 15-20 minutes. Area didn't feel safe to us. We did walk from hotel to subway each morning and had a few moments where we felt concerned for our safety. At night I would always recommend taking a taxi from subway station to hotel

When I stayed we walked back at all times of the day and night and never had a problem other than being tired from being in the city all day. The walk is a little far, but not unbearable. The closest subway we were aware of was at the stadium. We even came back after 1 am and didn't see a single person outside. I wouldn't worry about safety. Common sense serves you well.
