Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Do not choose this motel based on the picturesque website - the place is terrible. I spent two nights there in November of 2005 and could not believe how much I paid for an uncomfortable stay.

The motel, inside and out, was not clean. The room was filthy and the grounds were littered with junk. The heat in my room did not work so they had plugged in a space heater, the refrigerator did not function properly, the kitchen light was broken, the bathroom sink faucet leaked and the water in the shower never got above lukewarm. The rug was dirty and stained, the drawers on the nightstand were broken, and there were holes in the wall. A note on the door gave instructions on how to call the office, but the office was never open and there was no phone in the room!

Apparently there is no maid service here; the towels were not changed, no new toilet paper was put up to replace the empty roll and the trash was not emptied. Someone did change the broken light before my second night, but other than that, no service what-so-ever was performed.

I cannot believe I paid over $200 dollars to stay in this place. There are far nicer places in the area available for less money. I recommend that you pass this motel by.

This motel used to be one of the best places of its kind. Every September for years, we stayed one night on the way up to the Adirondacks to camp, and again on the way home. We looked forward to it. It was charming, clean, comfortable, well run. There were three signs posted on the trees out front that read "cute," "cozy,"."comfortable." It was a fun, quirky little place. A dirt road in back led to a paddock where a Belgian draft horse named Dolly lived, and we would feed her carrots.

Something started to go wrong around 2004. It seemed to have become something of welfare hotel, and the night manager was clearly drunk. The place was still clean and well-run, but it was clearly not going in the right direction.

We gave it one last chance in 2005, and discovered a new owner, and a complete collapse in quality. The owner had fired the staff who cleaned so well, and the rooms were now dirty and unmaintained. The mirrors were smeary, tables were sticky, the room reeked of nicotine and mold. The change was astonishing.

We told the owner the standards were appalling, but he simply said he had no trouble finding people who liked staying there. So that was that. Interestingly, we haven't been back to the Adirondacks since, because the Post Road Lodge was such a big part of the fun.
