Great return trip to Mountain Lodge - last there in 2015. Well looked after by Keira and our ranger Elan. In 40 years of visiting the SA bush I had never seen a leopard - but now I have. A wonderful 1,25 hours following a leopard at leisure. Marvellous !!! Looking forward to my next visit already. Best Wishes, Nick Skerritt, Norfolk, England.

Not sure where to start...but this is an incredibly special place to stay. Yes, it's expensive but the stay from beginning to end was simply superb. The view from our room across to the mountains was spectacular, the view from the main lodge incredible, you simply feel surrounded by the wonderful African bush and all the delights it contains. We went on game drives morning and evening, some on a private basis and others with different guests - all thoroughly enjoyable and hugely successful. We saw six black rhino on one afternoon drive - one even ran alongside the jeep, almost close enough to touch which was breath-taking and incredible. The whole team at Mountain deserve to be name checked but it's impossible, so simply put they were all remarkable. Rodwell greeted us when we arrived and set the tone for our stay - lots of laughter and warmth. We were well taken care of by Zinhle, who was an absolute joy, nothing was too much trouble and she was the most perfect host. We've been home a few of weeks and still miss her! The food and drink was delicious at every meal - and there are plenty of opportunities to eat and drink!!! You will not go hungry or thirsty! The room was large and kept spotlessly clean. The bed really comfortable and the shower and bath were great. The pool area was good - the water was a tad cold to "enjoy" the swimming but it was winter whilst we were there!!! The plunge pool at the room however was great to cool off in and chill on a sun lounger between drives! The gym is well equipped - I never met anyone else there! Would we go back? Without a doubt - in a heartbeat!

I celebrated my honeymoon at &Beyond Phinda Mountain Lodge in February. I went in with very high expectations (based on reviews and their instagram), but they even beat my highest expectations. Safari alone is a once in a lifetime trip, but at &Beyond, they somehow make it even better. The food was delicious (you will never go hungry or thirsty), the game drives were life changing, and the service was incredible (White Lotus level). From the second you arrive, you are greeted by lodge management, your butler (ours was Bongoni and he was so nice and attentive), your guide (Declan was so knowledgeable, friendly, and was always willing to take photos for us haha), and tracker (Menzi had an eye like a hawk! He could spot things that literally looked like a dot until you put your binoculars on). They take service to the next level. We are so grateful we were able to spend a few days at this resort and definitely want to come back some day!

Absolutely breathtaking location and service. andBeyond made sure that my adventure was beyond all expectations. What they do for the community is walking the talk. No lip service here at all when it comes to their efforts to ensure the community, wildlife, flora and fauna are all cared for. Looking forward to my next andBeyond journey. Special mention to Valeri, Karen, Kira, Moh, Roswell, Presence, Kenny, Menzi. Will be back xxx

It is difficult for me to write this review because no words can describe how exceptional our trip to the Phinda Mountain Lodge was. This is my second safari with andBeyond, and my expectations were high coming to Phinda. We saw the Big 5 within the first 36 hours which was an unexpected delight. The rooms were immaculate and the amenities were wonderful. We had two people in our group with dietary restrictions and the culinary team accommodated them flawlessly. I must give a special shout out to our ranger, Matt, and our tracker, Sofiso. Matt's knowledge of all things wildlife was spectacular, and Sofiso could spot animals almost a mile away. They were a joy to be with every day and made the experience with my parents and family so special. Our butler, Thando, was fantastic, as was Tammy with spa treatments and Celine with our laundry. I am even more in love with andBeyond after this trip and can't wait to stay with them again. Thank you to the Mountain Lodge team for EVERYTHING! I cannot say enough positive things about our four nights there.

Our three nights at Phinda Mountain Lodge were simply spectacular. Every aspect of the experience was memorable and you had to drag me away at the end of the stay. What stands out above it all is the people. Every single person we interacted with made us feel welcome and special. Zinhle, our butler, was sensational and looked after us so well. Her smiling face and deep care went above and beyond. Declan and Joel were an outstanding guide and ranger pair and we saw EVERYTHING. In our six game drives, we saw over 11 cheetahs, the whole big five numerous times, every major animal and bird you can think of. Thube, Siza, Richard, Elsie, Tammy, Ntombi (in the laundry) all made us feel very special and cared for. The lodge was wonderful, our room fantastic and we cannot wait to go back. If you're unsure about booking, don't even hesitate. Book asap!

The road trip from Ballito to Phinda was wet and rainy after 3 hours on the road we finally arrived at the Main gate. Within 100m into the Phinda nature reserve we were greeted by 3 beautiful lionesses seated on the bank at the side of the road sent especially to greet us I am sure. These were followed by wildebeest, nyala and warthogs. The staff were amazing on arrival and plied us with alcohol -and efficiency. The food was plentiful and splendid as we were on a full house special with all meals and alcohol included. Phinda is a beautiful place, a must see safari venue in northern KwaZulu Natal. The game drives I will let the pics tell the story….

This was our 1st safari, and it was amazing! The resort, food, and the staff were wonderful! Our ranger and tracker were Emma & Bethuel. These 2 really made our 1st safari experience everything we hoped it would be. They are very knowledgeable, friendly, and you can tell that they both love their jobs. We saw so many animals, by the second day we saw the Big 5! They really went out of their way to make sure that we saw everything possible. Thanks Again!

... that is it in a nutshell. It start with the beginning, your staff is awaiting you at the entrance. Always there for help, support, fulfilling wishes. And I can continue with the safaris aka the wild life experiences, the guides, the food (!!!), the architecture... The whole package is more than the sum of its parts. One person I need to point out: Thozama. Book a whole body treatment with hot stones and you are in relaxations heaven. And after you step out of the spa, meet a nyala. No more words needed...

My wife had long heard about the Phinda Private Game Reserve, but though we had traveled to South Africa 5 times previously on mission-associated trips, we had not visited Phinda until now. Phinda and the Phinda Mountain Lodge exceeded our expectations. We were pampered and treated to great service, food and facilities from the moment of our arrival. We also liked that a percentage of our fees went to the Africa Foundation, assisting local communities in the area, representatives of which we were able to meet while we were there. Our guide and tracker were not only knowledgeable and attentive to our needs and wishes, but they over-delivered on helping us experience the wildlife and their behavior at Phinda, from birds to rhino and elephants to cats “up close and personal,” including lions, leopards, cheetahs (and hyenas). We loved every minute, from hippo pool to cheetah cubs to lions mating and leopards prowling to sundowners with Amarula to the brais and private plunge pool to the last evening soaking in a freshly prepared bath by candlelight (with more Amarula of course). We made an extra donation to the Africa Foundation and will stay in touch with this special lodge and preserve.
