Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs is one of the oldest natural health resorts in the country. Our sulphur-free, geothermal mineral waters have flowed from a subterranean volcanic aquifer for thousands of years. Over 100,000 gallons per day come to the surface, revitalizing those who soak in the long believed, healing waters. We offer a variety of lodging accommodations, including new enchanting suites and charming cottages, the historic hotel and private homes. We suggest that you make reservations for spa treatments and private outdoor pools before you arrive. We also offer spa treatments, pools, hiking and biking trails, a wine bar and lounge and a full-service restaurant. The Artesian Restaurant provides a casual dining experience and charming atmosphere. Our chef blends local flavors with global cuisine. Heal yourself body and soul with a retreat to Ojo. Whether it's for a weekend or a longer stay, you'll leave rejuvenated and refreshed. Welcome!

At Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs Resort and Spa, guests are often charmed by the tranquil and unique atmosphere, though there are occasional concerns about noise and overcrowding. The service has received mixed feedback, with commendations for staff friendliness contrasting with reports of unresponsiveness. Though many find the hotel clean and well-maintained, some visitors highlight issues with bathroom cleanliness and linens.
Room experiences vary, with some enjoying spacious suites, while others encounter problems like empty soap dispensers. The variety of pools is a highlight, yet towel shortages and extra fees for amenities disappoint some, raising questions about the hotel's overall value.

Detailed Reviews
visited these delightful outdoor spa soaking baths ($30 pp) early January with four late teen girls and my adult sister. We all had a great time. Tips: go mid to late afternoon so you can experience sunset and evening which are beautiful. IF you can, bring flip flops (most important) and try to either bring your own extra towel or ask for a second. You get one, sometimes two. If you rent a robe ($15) it comes with a locker and extra towel. Your robe WILL get wet and chilly as you move about the different baths, placing it and your towel on snow sprinkled chaise lounges. Buying spa slippers is a waste - they get wet and dirty immediately. Flip flops are key! Remember, the environs are whisper quiet, no big chatting so keep that in mind. If you want dinner, make a reservation in advance or just eat in the wine bar - no reservations, but limited space. Pretty good food and definitely good wine. Also, the place looks a bit nicer by night...! It's more Hilton than Four Seasons in terms of upkeep and presentation style.

Dear Louisa718, Thank you for your patronage and for taking the time to write a review. We are so happy to hear that you, your sister, and your girls had a great visit and enjoyed the wine selection. We treasure Ojo Caliente’s rich history as a gathering place for diverse peoples and are committed to remaining inclusive to a broad range of guest rather than becoming an exclusive, polished, or refined resort. Maintaining the tranquility of these sacred springs continues to be one of our top priorities. We thank you for mentioning it in your review. Like so many places, we tend to have more traffic in the summer months, and on holidays and weekends. We have added a new calendar to the website that shows our high traffic days. We hope this tool will help guests as they plan their Ojo experience as it is our mission to provide all our guests with genuinely gracious hospitality while stewarding and sharing these sacred springs. Thank you for the reminders to bring footwear and make dinner reservations if dining at the Artesian Restaurant. We look forward to hosting you again in the future. Sincerely, Monica Zamora Guest Services Manager

We've taken the waters and spa treatments on numerous occasions, but this weekend we spent two nights here to celebrate a special event. We are in Pueblo Suite #42 which is very attractive, but there are some serious issues with the room that would prevent me from staying here again. 1) There are very few electrical outlets. Like it or not, we all have devices to charge, and this was difficult logistically. 2) The heat is provided by an in-wall mini-split that is extremely noisy. Impossible to sleep with it on. 3) There is no door to the bathroom. There's a door to the shower/toilet room, but if you get up early to brush your teeth or wash your face, there's no way to avoid waking up someone who might still be sleeping. 4) There is no place to hang your clothes! A large armoire holds the tv, but there are no drawers and there's no place to hang your clothes, although a few hangars are stashed in the armoire. We ended up using the coat rack for everything, which got very full and looked pretty messy. It seems odd to me that such a nice place would overlook so many basic conveniences.

I stayed in one of the airstream trailers to bring in the New Year 2020. It was a reasonable walk to the baths, a little cool when temperatures were below 20F.
Trailer stayed warm and cozy. Used heater to warm up the front "shower room". Nice kitchenette had microwave, fridge, coffee maker and hot water kettle.
There is not much else around. A few small restaurants a 5-min drive away. More choices 30 minutes away. An hour roughly into Santa Fe or Taos, so I'm counting the location as not great. If you are not hear for the springs/spa, then there is no reason to stay here. But if you are, you get some perks for staying on site - early entry and convenient robe.

This was one of the most disappointing spa experiences I’ve ever had, especially given it is a destination spa. The reception was inefficient and it took me 15 minutes just to pay and check in. The staff were not welcoming. The pools/baths did not seem clean, the puddles of water outside of the baths were dirt water so that did not inspire me to think the pools were much better. While there were signs for people to whisper those were mostly ignored. I got an 80 minute massage in an area that was cold and damp and I shivered through the massage. I listened to the endless yammering of a guest using pools outside rather than relaxing spa music. The masseuse was alternated between indifferent and hostile—the massage was subpar at best and certainly not worth the costs.
10,000 waves in Santa Fe or Betty’s Day spa in Albuquerque offer cleaner, more welcoming environments and staff. Don’t waste your time or money venturing here.

Dear a_lo_buck, Thank you for your patronage and for taking the time to write a review. We sincerely apologize for our failings. Please know that your experience is highly unusual, and we are grateful for your feedback as it will be applied constructively in our ongoing guest services training’s. It is our mission to provide all our guests with genuinely gracious hospitality while stewarding and sharing these sacred springs. We want to assure you that we take our water quality very seriously. Our intensive cleaning regimen allows us to maintain water quality standards higher than those mandated by the state without compromising their natural integrity by adding disinfecting chemicals. The entire volume of each pool, with the exception of the Large Pool, is constantly being replaced with new source water or with re-circulated water that has been filtered, subjected to UV light (for sterilization), and has had ozone introduced as a natural and highly effective antimicrobial agent. The Large Pool is the only pool that is slightly chlorinated. In addition, the pools are cleaned every 48 hours on a rotating schedule, and this cleaning process includes draining, scrubbing, disinfecting and pressure washing before being refilled with fresh water. We apologize that you were disturbed by noisy guests during your soaking time. Maintaining the respectful and tranquil nature of Ojo continues to be one of our highest priorities. We have prominently posted signage throughout the resort, and ongoing marketing efforts, to remind our guests that Ojo is a sacred place and a whisper zone in hopes that they maintain the appropriate regard and reverence. We will also continue to train and support our staff on the critical nature of this area of concern, and make sure that they inform and enforce it with our guests with an appropriate level of professionalism. Like so many places, we tend to have more traffic in the summer months, and on holidays and weekends. We have added a new calendar to the website that shows our high traffic days. We hope this tool will help guests as they plan their Ojo experience. We hope to host you again in the future. Sincerely, Monica Zamora Guest Services Manager

Soak in the pools and staff customer service was excellent; 5 Stars. Late in the day on New Years Eve seems like a solid time when the pools traffic is thin and things are relatively quiet. Although every time I go to Ojo it seems like there are always a few loud, obnoxious people who do not get the whole Ojo vibe.
Bar Staff and Restaurant Staff along with Food: 5 Stars. Great fish tacos and local salad for lunch. Outstanding tomato soup and muscles for appetizer and salmon for dinner. Mmmmm, chocolate cake. Prices are very reasonable.
Great hiking trails.
Plaza Suite room was decent, nice to have a shower, small kitchenette, and comfy king bed. However, the walls are very thin and the neighbors in Suite 14 partied all night like it was Vegas. Security was great (5 Stars) but they can only do so much. Basically spent $350 to lose a nights sleep which is most certainly not refreshing or regenerating. Very frustrating, especially after everything else was so excellent.
This is Ojo Caliente, not Vegas. If you want to party all night on NYE, more power to you. But GO TO VEGAS or the like, not a known health spa that prides itself in peace and quiet to regenerate and refresh. No phones in the room means that if your cell service does not work (AT&T does not work there) then you have to have a means to call security via WiFi. Too much hassle for the price. Not sure if there are better, more quiet room options, but the Plaza Suites were a major disappointment.

We visited the first week of opening since the Covid-19 shutdown and we were a little disappointed. We knew the pools were not going to be open yet but we expected a full service experience otherwise, especially considering that the nightly rate was what we've typically paid in the past with full use of the hot springs. We stayed 2 nights and didn't get our room serviced while we were there. I left my room at 1:30PM and placed the "please service" sign on the door. I returned at 4:00pm and the room had not been cleaned. I notified one of the housekeepers that I'd like the room cleaned and she said "okay." About 20 minutes later, I mentioned the problem to another grounds person and he said he'd let housekeeping know and at that time, I simply asked for some clean towels. The clean towels were never sent. Not cool. The morning of check-out, I called the front desk and asked for a late check-out, thinking that an extra hour would be nice. I was curtly told, "absolutely not. We need all the time we can to service the rooms." Apparently, you need more than just ample time.....I gave you 2 days to service our room or just to bring us some more towels and it never happened. . Additionally, the store/gift shop in the lobby was closed during our entire stay. It would have been nice to have a couple of bottles of water left in the room, as there was no other place on the property to purchase beverages, aside from the restaurant.

I have stayed here many times and recommended Ojo to many friends and acquaintances.
The pools were closed during our visit this time but we knew this and were ok with this since our suite ( #48 ) has its own private soaking tub and great privacy to soak au la naturale without scaring anyone!
But the disappointment came from lack of service and the lack of the most basic accoutrements. For example, since the little gift shop was closed during our entire stay, it would have been nice to have some complimentary bottles of water both in our suite and just around the facility. It was 92 degrees and no place to get a drink!
I like you guys but I know you can do better than that!
Since there was no place to get anything, how about some complimentary individually packaged snacks i.e. chips, trail mix etc..., even Southwest Airlines does that!!
Lastly and most importantly, the lack of empathy and/or accommodation from the decision makers on duty during our stay, such a short extension of check out time or a sincere "wanting to know how our stay was" and how they could possibly make it better the next time.
You are a resort destination and the staff should do everything reasonably possible to make a guest feel welcome and appreciated. Regrettably, this wasn't the case this time.
Please tell us how you intend to improve the overall experience.
Much success to you on re-opening.

I went to Ojo back in Nov 2019 for a day visit and loved it, and now in Mar 2022, I returned with a friend for an overnight stay. We reserved a Plaza Suite for two nights, and for what we paid (over $300 each night), we would have expected a better experience. Don't get me wrong, the grounds are beautiful and the hot springs are wonderful. But when we are paying that much for a room, our expectations were higher.
Some of the issues we experienced:
1. We were told we would have robes in our room to use in the hot springs area, but upon checking in, discovered no robes in our room. We texted the front desk to ask for the missing robes and waited one hour, then finally walked to the front desk ourselves to get them so we could begin using the hot springs.
2. Upon check in we confirmed that we were signed up for the 9am yoga class. The next morning, we showed up for yoga to find a sign taped to the Yoga Yurt saying the class had been cancelled. That was annoying because they had our phone number, but didn't bother to text us to tell us class was cancelled. We would have structured our morning very differently had we not been waiting around to go to our 9am class that wasn't going to happen.
3. There was a sign in our Suite bathroom saying that it was "no touch" due to Covid, and that rooms wouldn't be serviced, but to hang a special sign on the door if we needed new towels/coffee. We hung up our sign at 10am and left, only to return at 4pm to discover that nobody had come to our room. I walked to the front desk and was told that nobody came "due to their Covid policy", which would have been fine if that was what their sign said. Anywho, we asked for towels and more coffee and tea, but were told they didn't have any more tea due to supplier issues. No substitute was offered. Eventually the towels and coffee showed up in our room.
4. Room quality: Bugs were spotted in our bathroom twice during the middle of the night. Our toilet had issues with not flushing properly and would run non-stop every second flush. The creamers in the fridge had an expiration date of late Dec 2021 and this was mid March 2022. I didn't realize that until my last morning there, unfortunately.
5. We ordered two dinners to-go from the hotel restaurant. The first night we asked for cutlery but none was found in the bag when we got back to our room. Our room only had 1 fork and 1 spoon in the drawer, but like 6 knives. This isn't something that housekeeping was checking during the room prep, apparently.
6. We were given one blue towel for the hot springs and that didn't get changed out despite us being there for two nights (3 days).
We understand that there are staffing issues, and housekeeping is certainly one area where that is noticeable. If the rooms were less expensive it wouldn't have mattered as much, but at this price point we thought that it was a bit disappointing to have that many issues to report.

Me and my boyfriend stayed at Ojo for one night in the Posi Suite to get away for a couple days. When we arrived around 3pm on the 27th everything seemed perfect. The room was gorgeous, and the private tub on the cliff side was breath taking. When we checked in the Front Desk told us “The Artesian is open until 10pm” so we planned on having dinner at 9pm. When we walked over to get a table the restaurant was already closing and refused to seat us despite their 9:30 closing time. The front desk had given us the wrong time, and beyond that we were still there early enough for the correct hours. Regardless we had to drive 40 minutes to the nearest restaurant due to how remote Ojo is. After this frustrating ordeal we finally made it back to our room and retired to the comfort of our bed. Then the real NIGHTMARE started at 3am. Ojo Caliente a resort prized for its serenity had false fire alarms going off every 5 minutes waking up guests over and over until I could hear people screaming at their alarms from my suite. This went on for far to long. There was nobody helping guests or explaining the situation. It was utter CHAOS! I only found out that it was a false alarm through another guest who had talked with the fire department. I understand that electrical problems like this can and do happen, however the next day when we checked out the resort refused to compensate us in any way for the horror that was our stay.
I used to go to Ojo often, ever since I was young. This was my first time staying overnight. I am sad to say that the resorts staff and management let me down. A peaceful retreat for a night turned into the most unpleasant resort experience I have ever had. On top of this, there was NO explanation, NO compensation, NO apology.
If you were to ask me now if Ojo is the place to go, I would say: NO!

My family and I (4 adults) decided to come to Ojo Caliente for a day of relaxation. Once we checked in, I asked if it could be possible to have a late check out the next day and was told in non- negociable tone by the receptionist absolutely not. The gift shop was closed , and it would of be nice for the spa to provide water/ snacks for the guest specially considering the $400 room cost per night. Which to us it seemed mighty high after realizing that 3 of their pools were completely closed. The restaurant experience was awful. The service was poor , and the food was sub-par at best. The scallops were super spicy like they had dumped the condiment bottle on them and the risotto cakes smelled and tasted rancid. The pasta pomodoro’s sauce once again was too spicy ( totally overdone on chilli flakes). In general it was a sloppy presentation and taste for a dinner that was over $100. Our waiter, never checked on us and did not even ask how our dining experience was. Overall this was a very disappointing experience. This place is overpriced , the staff lacks hospitality spirit and we left under the impression that it was not ready to re-open.
