Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Very unique and peaceful. Had dinner and breakfast at Rancho de Chimayo just a walk away and was delicious. Very old school decor, no TV and no WiFi, vaulted ceilings, wood burning fire place made our stay very chill. Thoroughly enjoyed our time together in Chimayo.

A beautiful experience. The heater in Cuatro didn't work, so they moved us to Siete for no extra charge, and the next day we moved to Tres, which is a beautiful suite with warm floor and working heater. Unbelievably good value. The breakfast was brought to our room on individual trays: fruit, yogurt, tea or coffee, a delicious muffin. All anyone could wish, and such a caring staff, attentive and warm-hearted.

We were in two rooms during our stay, Tres and Cinco. This is a charming place where they make you feel at home. The excellent Rancho de Chimayo being across the street is an added bonus. The courtyard is full of birds, a pool/fountain with St. Francis and lovely plants, both native and potted. This historic hacienda is in a quiety area and was a plus for me that there was no WiFi!

Was going to stay 2 nights but had to leave the following day and the front desk informed me that the person who did the return charges wasn't there, and she would process the return later and send me the receipt. They never did.
They charged me $255 for uno ($98) & tres ($105) the night I checked in. Seems to me I was overcharged, $52 for tax??? Never received a receipt for the charges (my fault should have asked). They never said that if they didn't rent the room they would have to charge me the full night.
Seemed deceitful at best.
Room was ok , floor creeped when walking on it, somewhat musty inside -not as described on the website. The bathroom was very spartan hardly any toiletries.
There wasn't a continental breakfast as described on the website and had to go across the street to the resteraunt for breakfast (did get 50% off ).
Not worth the trip - nothing special and very poor in customer service.
Will never go back

If all you want is a comfortable bed and a hot shower then this place may work for you. For anyone that expects even the minimum of modern standards go anywhere else. They say they have wi-fi access but it is 0/0 except sometimes standing in their office. There is no cell phone access, we both have worldwide service one with Android, one with Iphone. We had no service. After they close the office at 5:30 there is not even a landline accessible. There is no TV service, I can understand that, perhaps for piece and quiet, but to not have any availability tells you you are on your own. I've had much better accommodations in the middle of the African Savannah. The staff we met were not rude but clueless. No reason to stay here, plenty of reasons not to stay.

Went with a group. There was 8 of us so all rooms booked. Viola was so very helpful in my planning of this.
The staff is so gracious and accommodating.
Breakfast was a wonderful feast. Coffee fresh fruit yogurt AND a delicious huge muffin.
The rooms (all of them) were super charming. Bed had huge fluffy pillows and super warm thick bedspread. Extra blanket...flowers..coffee...and refrigerator in all rooms. I had,a private deck. All rooms open onto courtyard where there were plenty of comfortable seating.
Everyone of us loved our rooms and the hospitality.

We have been going to Chimayo several times a year since the 1970s as our weekend getaways. Recently we have chosen the Rancho de Chimayo as our lodging and it is great. The rooms are all different with different amenities. All reasonably priced. A real hacienda from the old days. Service is wonderful and always the cleanliness and attention to detail are just tops. A wonderful quiet setting you will want to come back to year after year.

We have wanted to stay here since our first restaurant visit in 1992. It was worth the wait! A magical place. What an incredible value. Huge, gorgeous room, gorgeously decorated. A lovely old timey reservation and check in process! A simple walk across the road to one of our all time favorite restaurants. We will be back in November.

The reason I strongly recommend not staying at Hacienda Rancho is due to the extremely poor service and the fact I was double charged. There was confusion about my paying for the room. I gave my credit card upon arrival and was told their machine was down. The next day I was told my card was declined - which didn't make sense but I gave them my husband's card. His card went through and he signed away. Then there was some confusion over where our room record was. When it was finally found it had someone else's receipt on it. When we returned home we found that both our cards were charged. I called to report the problem and was treated like a liar. The woman insisted that only my card was charged. After awhile she relunctantly agreed to investigate and said she'd call in a couple days. I asked her to please call me the next day as I did not think it fair for me to wait that long. She did not call me the next day so I called her. I was told again that I was wrong - only my card was charged. She claimed to have no record of my husband's card being charged which seems strange since I saw her staple it to our room record. I told her I'd send a copy of my husband's receipt. Again she was very rude and insisted it wasn't possible that his card was charged. I'm still fighting to get my money back! Buyer beware. I'd recommend staying at the El Rey Inn in Santa Fe if you're looking for something nice and not too expensive. I stayed there for a few days and really enjoyed myself. It's only a few more bucks but well worth it - much better breakfast and amenities like hot tub and pool. It's competenly run as well! Plus there's nothing to do in Chimayo but see the Santuario and the drive to Santa Fe and Taos is long. If you want somewhere out of the way to stay try The Riverdancer in Jemez Springs. A wonderful place to relax with plenty of active things to do as well and a very caring staff.

I generally don't care too much for B&Bs, finding them too often either overly personal and fussy or dingy and lacksidasical, but the Hacienda de Chimayo manages to combine the best of the home-like experience with the privacy afforded by an inn. Hacienda de Chimayo is located on a small hill right by the side of a not-too-busy country highway, overlooking a broad field facing their well-regarded Rancho de Chimayo Restaurant (reservations recommended). We arrived shortly before dinnertime, were greeted and checked-in very cordially and efficiently by a professional manager-- not the owner/resident of the Hacienda (whom we never ran into)-- washed up and strolled across the highway for a very pleasant dinner. The Hacienda only has seven rooms, but they feel quite independent of each other, as they open onto a small, open air patio, and have balconies or french doors on another side. By the side of each entrance door is a large pile of firewood that guests are welcome to light in the beautiful kiva fireplaces gracing the rooms (we stayed in Seis). Room furnishings and decor are by no means new or "stylish", but neat and clean, exactly as you might wish your elderly favorite aunt in New Mexico would provide for your visits. There was no TV, cell-phone reception was difficult and I don't believe there was any internet connectivity. We had a comfortable time following dinner, reading long into the night on an overstuffed sofa in front of a roaring fire. The next morning we got up early to watch the sun rise. Breakfast was quite modest, but delivered to our rooms on wooden tray tables. The closest "attraction" to the Hacienda is El Santuario de Chimayo, the charming historic pilgrimage shrine and National Historic Landmark, a few minutes drive down the road towards Santa Fe. As others have commented, at only about half-an-hour from Santa Fe, Hacienda de Chimayo is a very viable alternative to the chain-store lodgings available in Santa Fe for a comparable or higher price.
