This property is older, but it is a great value for the money. I stayed in a downstairs villa, which had a decent sized room and a large bathroom. A big plus was that there was a large private patio, with a small outdoor kitchen. The breakfast was good, and the pool area is very nice. And, although the property is older, it was clean. The area is right in the middle of Jln. Seminyak, and Jln. Legian, with about a 15 minute walk to the beach. I was pleasantly surprised by my stay at Puri Dewa Bharata Hotel, because I had stayed at Dewa Bharata Bungalows in Candidasa earlier in my trip, which was truly awful.

Overall this hotel is very average but because it was so cheap I find it difficult to complain too harshly. Rooms were adequate, clean but dated. Pool nice size and deep but steps were dangerous when climbing out, bottom step on one set was broken and I can imagine someone slicing their foot open on the sharp edge. Breakfast was adequate, once again for the price no complaints. I had a couple lunches unfortunately one time there was a long black hair on the side of my plate. Would I stay there again? probably not as I'm not a fan of Seminyak, once again it was exactly as I expected for the price.

This is a traditional styled hotel/villa tucked off the main street in Legian/Seminayak. We chose this because we really wanted to feel like we were in Bali and deliberately avoided booking a run of the mill chain hotel/resort.
PLUS: The grounds and architecture are just lovely. It's a short walk to shopping/restaurants and 10 min to the beach. Mini marts close by (many have an ATM inside) for snacks and extra water. The staff are friendly and helpful, the pool is great, and the location is very convenient. I liked the villa feel with the amenities of a hotel.
MINUS: The rooms are a little dated - linens and bathrooms could definitely do with an upgrade and breakfast is average. However the price is also very reasonable so you get what you pay for. The villa up/down layout was a good choice for our family, however be warned if you are travelling with teens the hotel wifi was patchy or non existent so make sure you have roaming data.

Truly terrible except for the pool! Rooms are dirty, smell awful, furniture/bathroom fittings dated and broken, tap water dangerous to even brush your teeth with. Got very sick from it for a week! In fact, I wouldn't recommend this area at all. Beach is full of rubbish incl. syringes, streets are dirty and you're constantly hassled by sellers. Not the paradise one expected. Sad really...

Private, cosy place to stay. This is our go to base when we visit Seminyak. Staff are lovely and can’t do enough for you especially the kitchen staff. Simple but nice buffet breakfast. The pool is pristine and pretty.
The villa is nice and the bedroom has a beautiful big bed with fantastic air conditioning. It’s just off the main busy streets and just a few minutes walk to the beach and shops

We booked villa with two bedrooms. Upstairs room was acceptable but downstairs was disgusting with mold, wall paper falling off and a bath room that smelled like catpee. Outside living room area was worn. We stayed one night and then was moved to delux rooms, these were better but still after one night we did early check out. Staff was very friendly and pool area nice. Breakfast was very limited but acceptable.

Let me start with the good points, the pool is amazing, the location is close to shops and the beach, the bed was comfortable and the staff friendly.

Now what i did not like, the internet was patchy, th noise of the traffic made it hard to sleep, the walls were dirty, there was a nail sticking out of the bed that i cut my leg on, the pool ladder was broken and a hazard, the worst breakfast i have had in Bali.

Would we stay here again, yeah if there was nothing else available in this price range

Stayed at the Puri Dewa Bharata Hotel & Villas with my partner and was returning home after some dinner.

As we climbed the stairwell to our room I noticed a Balinese man standing on the balcony of one of the rooms close to ours I thought this strange.

When he did see me he quickly hid under the fence of the balcony so I pretended I did not see him and continued to open the door to the room but was watching him from the corner of my eye.

As I was doing this the man from the room which the Balinese man was peeping through started to open his door to come out side when the Balinese man heard this he jumped up on the balcony fence and quickly darted away from site.

All very, very suspicious!!!

I was a little shaken to see this sort of action so I waited about 20 minutes and thought about “what next” I then decided it my duty to tell the couple that the security man was looking through his window.

When I got to their room I told them what I had just witnessed and they both where visibly very shocked the man got quite angry and the lady well I could see the sadness in her eyes.

The man then asked to see the management about this but being later in the night the on duty staff said that they had gone home and would return the next morning – fair enough.

We then asked to see the head of security when he did arrive he did not know anything and said there would be an investigation at this stage the couple got angry and demanded something to be done immediately and I also demanded action.

Having something like this is completely un acceptable in and in some countries a police investigation would follow but being in Bali that really does not apply unless you pay money for their help.

15 minutes later the security many that I saw peeping through the window appeared and said that he was looking for a cat we all laughed and the security man got abuse from every corner he did not know what to do.

This was a complete lie!! When I saw him he was not looking for a cat he was looking through the window!!

If there was a cat on the balcony why did he not just knock on the door and ask if he could get the cat – normal practice for anyone I’m sure you would agree.

We knew he was lying and you could see in his face that he knew he had been caught out!!

All this went for about 1 hour and we all then retired to our rooms for the night.

The next morning the couple did meet the management and they seemed not to really care and said that the Balinese man was looking for a cat obviously trying to cover up thins.

We all checked out and decided to go to other hotels because we all felt extremely uncomfortable about the night’s events.

Let you decide if you want to stay at this hotel but me I will never return and will be warning everyone I know to stay away.

This is a hotel with a traditional atmosphere, a nice garden, a small but nice pool and very friendly staff. The hotel itself is just terrible!

It’s an old and rotten hotel, with nearly everything falling apart. The worst is the mould and the nasty smell in the damp rooms and villas, the disgusting fetidness in the bathrooms due to serious sewerage problems, resulting in a nasty smell of excrements.

The overall cleanliness, especially in the rooms and bathrooms is the major problem. In the bathrooms nothing looks really clean.

Old, tired and even broken furniture everywhere, bad mattresses are full of bed bugs. Ripped and stained bed sheets, old and stinking towels, no shower curtains, no towel hangers. No mosquito nets in the rooms, only in the so called villas (Beware: There’s a high risk of dengue fever in Bali). The villas are like dark caves, no daylight, only one window that lets you stare against a concrete wall. The wardrobe we found in the bathroom, in an extremely damp bathroom with nasty smell coming out the toilet, a bathroom like a steam sauna, without windows and a not working moisture exhaust fan.

With rain our bathroom became flooded with brown water entering from the ceilings. Air conditioning appliances are also very old and not cooling at all, only reducing the air humidity a little bit. Rooms and villas are very bad lit. There are rats in the whole area, even in the rooms and the restaurant. Complaining about this resulted only in a big smile.

The breakfast buffet is very poor and dirty. Dishes and tables are speckled with termite crumb and ants. Ants and other insects are sitting on the food.

Termite crumb also in the rooms, on the sofa, chairs and tables. Pool is very small with very few chairs, so in high season it’s very difficult to find a chair. Pool chairs are also old and tired and have disgustingly dirty mattresses that are apparently never washed.

Old TV appliances in the rooms with mainly Indonesian channels and only a handful of international news channels. WiFi Internet access is officially available in the whole hotel, not for free and charged by hour, but in fact not working in the rooms. You can carry your laptop to the front desk where you find a week and slow signal, but after 10 minutes you’re bitten by dozens of dangerous dengue mosquitoes.

The fridge in the room was also dirty, far too small and only making a lot of noise, but not cooling properly.

Hotel is quite far away from the beach, restaurants, nightlife and shopping. Nothing is really in walking distance. You need a taxi or motor bike for everything. Hotel is situated on a noisy and at night very dark and a bit scary road that is the main access to a highway. It’s hard to sleep in the main building due to the noise disturbances from the traffic. In the so-called villas it’s more quite.

Guests seem to be mainly Indonesians from other islands, especially large groups from Java, which can easily result in a bit of annoying mess at breakfast and the pool.

Summary:

This hotel is totally overpriced with lousy rooms, lousy facilities and a lousy breakfast. No value for money at all. Beware of checking in at the front desk, like us. Then they are trying to rip you off by charging rates up to 100, - USD. Only later we found out that internet and agency rates are only the half of it. But at this time we already decided to move out, after trying out several rooms and even the so-called villas, which had all the same problems.

There are plenty of other newer, cleaner and cheaper hotels in Bali.

I wouldn't have said it was an "Indian style", more "international". For breakfast you have a choice of juice/ tea/ coffee/ water. Toast. Buffet: which included fruit and salad. Hot dishes varied from fried rice, potatoes, fish/ chicken based, and obviously some meat based food. I can highly recommend the freshly made omelets and you have a choice of fillings- mushroom, cheese, onion, etc. Poached eggs were good too. We didn't look for Indian style food, but I'm sure it was around. Lunch or an evening meal at the hotel were very basic. We ate most of our evening meals across the road at Malo's, which did have a vegetarian menu.

The upstairs villas have twin beds. They have lots of room for luggage and a seating area. There is a bar next to the pool, but I don't think there was any staff coming around taking drink orders. We just went to the bar to order drinks and brought them back to the pool area (maybe 20 ft walk). I hope you have a great time! I sure did!

They are not connected, one is ground level and the other is up a huge flight of stairs above. The top one did not lock from the inside either and we couldn't leave our children unattended as it was way to far away. We swapped to a side by side hotel room, not much better.
