What a surprise this hotel was. Unassuming from Route 17, after pulling into the entrance in the rear, was surprIsed at how nice it was. Check in was fast, efficient and the clerk gave me the low down on the hotel. The room was modern with a microwave, sink, coffee maker and dishes. Bathroom good size and I loved the shower control on the opposite wall from the showerhead. There is a hot breakfast included and a rooftop bar and restaurant with a great view of the NYC skyline. Our bartenders, Jaime and Claire were terrific. The only reason I didn’t give it five stars is the tv didn’t work- the only way to get it in was pulling it out from the wall and unplugging and plugging it back in. I called down at 11:30 and rye front desk told me they’d note it and did not, and it took a long time for the hot water to come up in the shower. The hotel opened in April and the roof top bar in August.

We stayed at this hotel to attend a friend's wedding in a nearby town and this place was what the marrying couple recommended. The hotel is relatively new and the staff we met were all very professional. Our room was essentially a one-room studio with two beds and full service kitchenette, couch and table that could double as a desk. The bathroom shower stall had a thick curved glass sliding door mounted in a barn door arrangement. All very functional. A complimentary breakfast features a counter with a staffer who makes pancakes, a better setup than many hotels with similar breakfast. It has a better than average fitness room with new equipment. Those are all the positives. The negatives. There's a rooftop nightclub called Concourse which presents two problems. If you stay on the hotel's sixth floor as we did you will hear the thumping of the bass speakers long into the night. The nightclub also creates parking issues for hotel guests, especially when first arriving or returning to the hotel at night. Another guest who had to drive around the lot several times before finding a spot was told the nightclub has priority on parking. Really? So a hotel guest who drives to North Jersey from more than 200 miles away and arrives late at night is just plain out of luck? Mind you, there's no street parking nearby. On what planet does that make any sense? I'd suggest that anyone who needs a reliable place to park at night at their North Jersey hotel consider alternatives. Another negative: the hotel is on busy Rte 17 so you get the highway noise if you're on that side of the hotel. But that's the lesser of the three negatives.

Stayed for a few nights, checking in was easy, however having a person in the room you were given, makes for another trip to the desk for a different room. The room was clean, yet very sparse as they have gone to a euro design. Can’t say i like that. When IN Europe fine, anyway, the main entrance is NOT facing the highway, nor does that entrance have any cover to it so when it is raining, it’s all on you. The staff is very nice & accommodating. The breakfast was okay, i heard it was the bomb, however, having worked the restaurant biz, i can say…not so much. The pantry or area for snacks was lacking. The wifi was good, the A/C did not run on constant, it would cycle. Meaning, less sleep for me anyway. Over all, i ‘d say it is okay for a few nights. Future stays? Well, I’ll look around next time.

My stay here was superb!
This is a gorgeous hotel and amazing hospitality.
When we arrived, it was late, so we had a slight hiccup with the room assignment. The hubs and I reserved a king bed type but was given a 2 bed room. Now, as a Platinum member, I was highly disappointed with the assignment because those beds were advertised as "queen," but they were more like small, full sized beds.

The front desk clerk, Michelle, noticed my disappointment and did her best to accommodate us. She went above and beyond to find a way to accommodate us. She found a king suite available but warned us that it did not have a blackout curtain, so the sun would shine bright in the morning. We didn't mind, as long as we were able to sleep together comfortably in the same bed. We took the suite, and everything was uphill from there.

The bed was extremely comfortable, and the room was clean. We stayed Tuesday through Friday, so the hotel was extremely quiet, and we had plenty of parking.

Monday through Thursday, they offered a manager's reception with wine, beer, and cheese. There is a 3 drink limit, though.

They also have complementary continental breakfast with bread, muffins, cereal, and bagels. And a chef that makes daily specials such as avocado toast, sweet potato w/ egg & chicken hash, etc. Bring cash to tip the chef.

They have a rooftop lounge, but we didn't have a chance to check it out.

Five stars!!

As a veteran traveler who spends the night with many different brands of Marriott accross the country, the Element Wood-Ridge was one of the best stays I've experienced in quite some time. Brand new property beautifully designed inside and out. Spacious well appointed rooms. An attentive friendly and caring staff. There are many subtle, yet well thought out touches to make a short or extended stay seamless and as comfortable as can be imagined. There is nothing close to this level in the area. Will absolutely return.

A brief stay here was easily the nicest property of a week long tour of the Northeast.
I was wowed by the large suite with full kitchen, and despite being on a very busy highway, the room was well insulated from any outside or inside noise.
High marks on convenience with their free parking and an easy 20 minute car ride to Newark Airport or the GW Bridge into NYC. I will make this property a place I hope to return to for future visits.
The breakfast service in the morning had many more offerings than any other property I’ve stayed at since COVID protocols began.

Why is this hotel named Element New York Wood Ridge? It is in New Jersey 10 miles away from New York with no public transit easily accessible. The only reason to use the name of a city that is quite far away is to mislead guests as to your location. Otherwise it is a very nice new hotel with a convenient location if you are visiting New Jersey.

We wanted to visit friends and family in the area and this hotel was a good location for us as it works for Bergen County as well as Hoboken, which is a fast ride down Rte 17.

Most of the staff was great and the facility is very nice. We were in a one bedroom suite, which is nice, and as others have said, breakfast is excellent. Someone else wrote about the AC blowing directly onto the bed- that was also a problem for me though my husband liked it.

I felt that the water in the shower never got hot enough. It took a long time to turn warm and really never got hot. Luckily, it was summer, not winter.

It was convenient to have laundry facilities.

There were 2 things that made me unhappy about this hotel. Parking on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings was difficult, because there is a popular night club on the roof. There were no good spots in the back lot (away from the highway) when we returned from dinner at about 9pm. Or rather, there were spots, but we weren't permitted to use them because the valet, who works for the club guests, blocked them. He was saving them for higher priced vehicles. Those of us paying to sleep in the hotel had to park farther away, on the highway, in the Wendy's lot.

The other upsetting incident had to do with one very rude hotel employee named Fatima. I waited in line to ask a question and then she didn't answer me and instead helped the guests in line behind me, just ignoring me and requiring me to just stand there. Eventually I gave up and went upstairs. My husband went down and ultimately got an answer but I was quite upset and didn't understand why she was so rude to me.

We have always been loyal Marriott hotel patrons when traveling, but we will not be staying in this hotel again thanks to Fatima.

Had a great stay at this hotel. There were five of us (2 adults, 3 kids) and the room never felt cramped. The room and hotel were both very clean and modern. The breakfast was awesome. The pool is on the small side, but was great for the kids. There were plenty of nearby places to catch the train into NYC.

i stayed there in and our for almost 3 months. Manager Jesse is the worst, His costumer service is by far the most disgusting displace of human interaction with any costumer I've seen. after not getting anywhere with him I tried speaking to GM Mike with no response what's so ever ( so much for caring for the costumer) . I don't understand how Marriott allow people like this to run there brand. I am a gold member and there nasty attitude and lies have made me reconsider moving to Hilton for good.

Don't expect room service, they never answer the phones, parking is the worst. i arrived after hours to catch the front desk girl sleeping on the couch and gave us attitude because she to get up and open the door and told us to use our key next time. Manager got loud with husband that put his hand right on his face as other guest walked in ... I wish i was the management company and will fire them all . Marriott deserves better is because people like that that the brand suffers.
